Very well done - thank you. What amazing melodies and engaging compositions. I won't be surprised if 100 years from now people continue to play many of these timeless exposition from Tony Banks. Bravo.
“There’s no such thing as a ‘perfect’ fan” This medley: *EXISTS* Holy shit man this is so good, got me a bit emotional (especially @The Cinema Show). The fact that you use songs from almost every single album, and do transitions from new to old, old to new, is so enjoyable to hear, it really highlights the variety Genesis has offered throughout their ‘tenure’. Not to mention what a talented pianist you are, the different sections in and of themselves were all a treat. I sure hope someone showed this to Banks! Don’t know if you’ll read this but huge kudos to you, man!
Quel brillant hommage!!!
Quite fabulous, who would ever have thought of such a varied selection, this is the sort of imaginative interpretation that not only strikes a chord with lifelong Genesis followers but allows the un-initiated a window on the musical nuances of britains finest progressive rock band of the 70s.....Very well done to Trople for a thoroughly enjoyable 7 plus minutes of great music and musicianship....
Mind blowing transitions between tunes and able to convey the feel in each and every one individually in such a short blast. Amazing stuff. Congratulations. I love Genesis.
Wow that was such a fun listen. I could hear most of them, actually name some and probably guess at a few more but it was amazing how immediately identifiable most of them were. Tony Banks is a superb composer and you did really well to string them all together without any mush to join them. Well done. Listening again. I might try the naming test myself but it's so fast. I do have to admit, i kinda wanted you to get stuck on Firth but oh well. Moving on. Hahah.
+Paul Baldwin Cos it's a bit of a waste of talent, I suspect. If you can play all of these pieces (which he obviously can) then what's the point of this rather crap mash-up?
Yeah, I actually listened to this video a few times and started hearing the order of the medley while listening to the actual songs. It was really annoying, but I overcame it after staying away from this video. Stay away from medleys.
My heart skipped a beat (or two or three) when you hit "Mad Man Moon" and the "Cinema Show".... Great, luv..simply great ! (Wish there had been a little more "Lamb" in there than a quick round of "In The Cage", tho'..but, then again what would you expect from me?! LOL *grin, wink*) xoxo Lil
@illegalalien2 Thanks for the comments & compliments! It is Los Endos, so the one that appears twice is yet to be identified. The fact that that part sounds like Dance on a Volcano's intro could lead you to one of the other answers? There is one from Calling All Stations in there, listen out for it... Much appreciated for posting it in the shoutbox :)
@LileighWhiteLilith Thank you for the kind words Lileigh - there are actually 6 "Lamb" tracks hiding in there (check the video's description) but I'm not surprised you wished for even more ;) PS. The Musical Box have added extra UK dates to March, can't wait!
How is this possible ? This is great and amazing. Some songs arranged that I never heard before and all flowing seamlessly together. With a special mention for Can Utility and the Coastliners! Wish you could play that entirely.
That was fantastic... I dare Tony Banks to do that! Your piece should be used for the opning titles in the next Genesis documentary, whenever there is a new one in some shape or form.
Quiz: Firfth of fifth appears twice. Abacab is not in here ;(( That's all sounds a lil lower than usual And it must be Los Endos as Live because thats dance on a volcano
Awesome work!! I love that you picked songs from 'every single album' from a to z ... but to answer the last question of your quizz, What has Abacab done to you? 🙄😪 Thanks and congrats Anyway! 😎
"There are song/s featured from every album, except 1. Which album is that?" Looks like 'Abacab'. Bonus points, though, for getting both "From Genesis to Revelation" and "Calling All Stations" in there!
This is too cool! But too short...! You should do an extended version that lasts 23 min. and call it the Supper's Ready version! But this is genius....I would love to see a Tony Banks reaction video to this....!!
4:16 Congo 4:26 The Lamb Lies Down On Broadway 4:32 The Musical Box 4:36 Carpet Crawlers 4:55 Afterglow 5:07 Follow You, Follow Me 5:19 Cinema Show 5:34 Can Utility and the Coastliners 5:53 Squonk 6:14 Back in New York City 6:21 Supper's Ready 6:34 Los Endos
Sure, the right hand plays octaves with the fifth in the middle, and the chords are: Ab, Gb, Ab, Fm, Gb, Eb, Fm, Gb x2 (with Ab in the bass) F, Em, F, Dm, Em, C, Dm, Em x2 (with C in the bass)
Ten years after, I've found this great video of a medley from my favourite band !! Thank you very much. It's so amazing. These are my answers to the mini-quiz : - Fifth of fifth appears twice - That's all was played in Eb, the original key is E - Los endos was played in its live version - Abacab (1981) has no song in this medley :( Am I right ? I think it's all good :)
Thank you! And yes, you aced all the questions :) Always get happy when I see apprecition for this medley, because it shows people still recognise the genius songwriting variety of Genesis over the years.
I learned them all by ear, i find it easier than using sheet music! Look out for David Myers "Genesis on piano" collection, he's adapted quite a few of their songs for piano - or do you already have those?
i guess im asking the wrong place but does anybody know a method to get back into an Instagram account?? I stupidly forgot my password. I love any help you can give me!
@Trenton Dash i really appreciate your reply. I found the site on google and im trying it out atm. Looks like it's gonna take a while so I will get back to you later with my results.
Brilliant
FANTASTIC BRAVO TAKES ME RIGHT BACK TO GLORIOUS DAYS !!!!!!
Very well done - thank you. What amazing melodies and engaging compositions. I won't be surprised if 100 years from now people continue to play many of these timeless exposition from Tony Banks. Bravo.
This was incredible! Fantastic work. 👏👏

I did indeed read this, thanks so much for your comment! Really appreciate when someone recognises so much of the work that went into this medley.
@@paulrahme My pleasure man, thanks again for this amazing tribute

incroyable et amusant quand on connaît très bien et qu'on écoute Genesis depuis 40 ans
The best thing I can do is be part of the audience and watch the master at work.
Wow that was such a fun listen. I could hear most of them, actually name some and probably guess at a few more but it was amazing how immediately identifiable most of them were. Tony Banks is a superb composer and you did really well to string them all together without any mush to join them.

Listening again. I might try the naming test myself but it's so fast.
I do have to admit, i kinda wanted you to get stuck on Firth but oh well. Moving on. Hahah.
Do you know how very talented you are? Do something with this! Your improvisational skills are so spot on - perfection, dare I say? Run with this!

Loved every second of it!! Thank you!
My face melts off like an Indiana Jones villain every time a Trick of The Tail song comes up (especially Dance On A Volcano). So epic.
1:52 the transition from One for the Vine to Mad Man Moon was amazing haha

Playing any Genesis is tricky for amateurs like me, but to mix it together is awesome.
Dude that was pretty fucking awesome. Loved it.
To the two of you who clicked thumbs down...what the hell were you thinking?
+Paul Baldwin Cos it's a bit of a waste of talent, I suspect. If you can play all of these pieces (which he obviously can) then what's the point of this rather crap mash-up?
Yeah, I actually listened to this video a few times and started hearing the order of the medley while listening to the actual songs. It was really annoying, but I overcame it after staying away from this video. Stay away from medleys.
Loved every minute.

Wondeful :) !
Muy bueno, hace sentir las melodía de Genesis
They sure had a knack for melodic hooks.
How is this possible ? This is great and amazing. Some songs arranged that I never heard before and all flowing seamlessly together. With a special mention for Can Utility and the Coastliners! Wish you could play that entirely.
Bravo!
I never knew Tony Banks had an identical twin. What talent!
GREAT!!
amazing
@dhbowman1971 Well done on a close second - you had almost all of them there!
I'm intrigued about the part that sounded like Mad Man Moon but wasn't.
That was fantastic... I dare Tony Banks to do that! Your piece should be used for the opning titles in the next Genesis documentary, whenever there is a new one in some shape or form.
You dare Tony to do that? That’s humorous.
Heck yah!!! That was crazy awesome!!!!!!!!!
Great
In volo sui decenni d'oro della band
Quiz:

Hahaha well spotted! I just think I didn't know any songs from Abacab well when I made this medley...
Oh Wow I reconised every song!
"There are song/s featured from every album, except 1. Which album is that?"
Looks like 'Abacab'.
Bonus points, though, for getting both "From Genesis to Revelation" and "Calling All Stations" in there!
@dakotafrost There is no Mystery of Anything with you around! You've been credited for the tracklisting in the video's description.

Thank you! It's a section from near the end of Can Utility And The Coastliners. Check the video's description for the full list!
Paul Rahme Guess I should’ve checked the description in the first place! But thanks for the reply!
WOW!!!
Damn! Abacab is one of my very favorite albums! I wish it was included.
Erm, it's Abacab that I missed! There's an extract from Congo (from Calling All Stations) near the end :)
Yeah boy
