In case you were wondering if cross-promotion via guest appearances works, I am (so far) living proof that it does. Didn't know a darn thing about Mystery Quest until Tom and his strangly hands made an appearance on Chaotic Neutral.
Tom is a masterful storyteller...in game and out. And as a side note, Trott has an impossible task of winning the confidence and trust of the crew whilst being the corpo agent. Nobody ever, ever trusts the corpo.
Oh, do not worry! Every employee of *_Weyland-Yutani-Corp_* is a consumate professional and always *fully* in your courner! Company policy, you see! Thank you, have a pleasant day!
Davis (Ben) is absolutely helping Wilson (Trott) here by making himself the obvious untrustworthy one. Suddenly, Wilson's strict adherence to protocol looks absolutely giga-brained next to Davis' loose-cannon antics.
Comments after: Fun to see Ben as "the liability" this time. I would bet real money Ravs never remembers he has a bonus to a future roll. And: oh, the *Cronus* appears to be a "Prometheus-class" ship! neat.
The stare between Tom and trott when the group want to go back to the ship is so good! To anyone else there wouldn't be anything to notice, but for us we can see the stress that trott might be rumbled an hour in
Some episodes of mystery quest just click in the right way, and this is one of those episodes. I think these Alien RPG game and Mothership are my favourites.
I DMed this scenario 5 times and I still enjoy listening to another play. It's truly beautiful. What a great group. Thank you for sharing the playthrough.
I honestly love the classic Lydia Mystery Quest maneuver, big respect for both taking swings with character voices and also recognising when they're not working for you 😄
I absolutely loved this, the extra visual components in the video were a surprising and super awesome addition. I know Tom has chosen not to do them too much since he wants to focus on the podcast-esque style for multiple platforms, but is was nice to see a little extra spice for those of us watching the video without taking away from the audio in any way. It was hilarious to see Ben essentially tank his character so early on with all the stress, it would be pretty funny and unexpected if he's the only one to make it out alive. It was awesome to see Trott return, he is always great fun.During the first few minutes I definitely had flashbacks to the Mothership game where people almost died simply getting out of the cryopods.
Fantastic. So glad to see you guys finally playing the Alien RPG. This was great. I hope you guys also do the other Alien RPG scenarios, Destroyer of Worlds and Heart of Darkness.
Superb games mastering, and truly excellent characterisation from ALL the players. I absolutely love this and have saved (downloaded) all three parts to enjoy. Its especially nice that this carries on from the other atavle top miniatures adventure over on the other channel. What a treat... it feels like I`m watching an immersive sequel to an Aliens movie :-)))
Thought this was tremendously enjoyable and well produced. Easily one of the best Alien RPG actual plays out there. Can't wait to see how the adventure progresses!
Those of you who are interested, there was an 'unofficial' hardcore fan RPG for Alien back in the day, known as Alien: Fuzion. The PDF's are available. It had a Space Jockey (Pre-Prometheus) plug-in, a Predator (plug-in) and an era called The Cold-War where you fought as a merc against coporations. A huge shout-out to Chris Diaz for making that beaufiful RPG a thing.
Found your channel from your alien/spacehulk Battlereport. I’ve never watched an RPG before but that was awesome! Subscribed and can’t wait to watch the next episodes. (Comment for the comment god)
For the first time, when Tom asked people to say who they are and who they're playing, the WHOLE TABLE said who they were and who they were playing, lol
YEEESSS! Ever since Upsilon I've been waiting for this! Thank you Tom and everybody there! This is honestly better than how Romulus looks, Alien movies are taking a nose dive, so I'm really happy for this RP! Love the interaction between the crew, baller cast; and a wonderful GM to top it all off! God Bless!
Love it! Great work ya'll! A few years back, we went all out on filming our own Alien Game- did all the sounds music and lights too! It's great to see others have as much production fun
I guess Rye could just be a failsafe if someone dies early on(which seems kinda likely at this point), but in the Alien universe, I'm also suspecting they're a milkman
This honestly has me very excited, this RPG has really easy to follow mechanics, I love giving the players individual motives and goals, and the setting is really building up. I can't wait to finish the series
Hhehe, love the intro Tom, my dad, was from the Ozarks, he had a lot of fishing stories like this, when he was alive, and a lot of them were down right scary. He said his uncle's boat capsized from a giant catfish, and also that the catfish 'noodling' was pretty dangerous, and that he knew people down by giant catfish back in those days when he was a kid ( he was born 1913 )
Not knocking Trott’s character or performance at all (he’s hilarious and I love it) but I do kinda wonder what it’d be like to have a sympathetic corporate suit character? A character who starts off truly believing in the rescue mission and the company, and is more genuinely naive than coldhearted; maybe someone who has to come to grips with their whole worldview unraveling as they get increasingly evil orders from corporate hq
I imagine that to get into the position where you've been assigned as a Weyland-Yutani corporate officer on a mission that's got its own secret "at all costs" directive for you, you've probably already risen through the corporate ranks by being a cold-hearted SOB who's primarily out to advance themselves no matter what. But I do agree your idea would also be a good one to see played out.
THIS is soooooooooo Awesome ..... Its like a classic Alien narrative ..... But with the insanely unprofessional, moving health and safety violation crew from Prometheus!!!! Buahahahahahahahahahahah. This is gonna be fantastico!!!
Finally an other game from Free League!! Love this series, I will strongly look forward for the next episode. But I will keep asking for Vaesen, Nordic Horror, as is my favourite game and I would love to see you guys playing it!!
The odds that Tom recorded his Mystery intro with one of his lemon shirts, and didn't turn up to the recording with one his lemon shirts - incalculable
In case you were wondering if cross-promotion via guest appearances works, I am (so far) living proof that it does. Didn't know a darn thing about Mystery Quest until Tom and his strangly hands made an appearance on Chaotic Neutral.
Same here but the other way around.
@@Imwritingthisnotefrombeyondthe Same here!
Same, the other way around!
*Waves* Can't believe it took me this long to find these wonderful weirdos
Same, and now I'm going through the MQ back catalogue getting caught up!
Love that Ben gets "you want excitement" and interprets it as "push every skillcheck"
Ben gets"You want excitement" and interprets it as "ADHD it is"
"Let's ruin the game as quickly as possible"
I’m getting the sneaking suspicion pushing a skillcheck doesn’t represent fun in-character 😂
It's funny but if i was playing with him I would get so pissed off. Sabotaging a survival game for the laughs is only funny so many times xD
Ben loves games involving dice, therefore more dice is more excitement.
ben's failed check followed by his panic attack covering for trotts sabotage was so perfect
Trots plan worked so well, Ben is gonna kick himself for smashing the control panel and giving Trott the perfect alibi in the end game chat lol.
I think “worked” might be a relative term, given he locked everyone in before they could even do a basic assessment of the situation
So standard Weyland Yutani operating procedure
@@normtrooper4392 It's company policy!
The little bits and bobs of sound snippets (typing, mother processing, beeps and boops) are a very nice touch.
Trott's chosen such a smarmy voice for his character. I love it!
Tom is a masterful storyteller...in game and out. And as a side note, Trott has an impossible task of winning the confidence and trust of the crew whilst being the corpo agent. Nobody ever, ever trusts the corpo.

God imagine an aliens story where the corpo isn't actually out to ruin your day.
Christopher Trott is such a gem, he is absolutely nailing this character
"Sometimes you can trust ugly people, okay?"
"No, you can't. They're not as good as you and i."
Fwiw, I adored Lydia's brief New England accent! It was amazingly fun, and I was surprised how good at it she was (as someone living in New England).
I agree, she should have stuck with it!
the secret agendas make the rp so much more interesting
Comments after: Fun to see Ben as "the liability" this time. I would bet real money Ravs never remembers he has a bonus to a future roll. And: oh, the *Cronus* appears to be a "Prometheus-class" ship! neat.
The Montero is also a 'newer model' of the Nostromo, just without the upgrade that lets it tug the huge freighter we see in Alien.
I love Trott's commitment to his character
Ngl I was thinking how good Ravs' Scottish accent for his character was... then I remembered Ravs is Scottish 😂
The stare between Tom and trott when the group want to go back to the ship is so good! To anyone else there wouldn't be anything to notice, but for us we can see the stress that trott might be rumbled an hour in
Can't wait for Ben to listen to some more Billy Joel while in a gunfight 😂
Some episodes of mystery quest just click in the right way, and this is one of those episodes. I think these Alien RPG game and Mothership are my favourites.
I DMed this scenario 5 times and I still enjoy listening to another play. It's truly beautiful.
What a great group. Thank you for sharing the playthrough.
Lydia mocking Trotty's "Understood" is just perfect
I LOVE secret agendas. I can’t wait to see how this story pans out, thank you everyone involved! And keep up the incredible work. ❤
"Trust me, it'll be just like that time we escaped the ambush at tannhauser gate" --- my nerd brain giggled.
Big same! Wonder if we’ll see attack ships on the shoulder of Orion!
I didn’t get that what was it referencing?
@@spartanbo8110It comes from Blade Runner, which takes place in the same universe as Alien, according to Ridley Scott, the director of both films.
Absolutely nailed the atmosphere of the original Alien films with the ambient sounds, music, sound effects, and the performances!
Very much enjoyed x
First time watching one of your actual plays. I’m blown away by the production, the group chemistry, and the mix of humour and horror.
Must add the editing and use of music and sound effects etc is on another level well done to all at Mystery Quest
Been waiting/hoping you guys would do this! Let the Entirely Uneventful Space Trucking With No Unspeakable Horror At All begin!
Chris' play to blame Davis is just a beautiful touch :D
1:07:03 trotts little side eye to the camera the cheeky boik well played
And the panic in 1:01:14.

Ben's character is bringing strong "Prometheus" energy into the mission here.
Awesome cast. Loved the Mothership sessions so looking forward to this one
Fantastic. So glad to see you guys finally playing the Alien RPG. This was great. I hope you guys also do the other Alien RPG scenarios, Destroyer of Worlds and Heart of Darkness.
This was by far the best mystery quest you've done. Then again, the alien universe is so absolutely fascinating, so im biased.
Bloody hell this is fantastic, loving both Trott and Bens characters!
The absolute smarm in Trott's voice whenever he says 'company policy' is incredible.
Thought this was tremendously enjoyable and well produced. Easily one of the best Alien RPG actual plays out there. Can't wait to see how the adventure progresses!

the fishing opener was so amazing and cute, the music hit perfectly
New series and I don’t have to be at work today? Let’s fucking goooooooooooooo

Great crew choice and loving the production values. These are great fun Tom!

Ooh the cast is amazing on this one!

That was so cool. Loving the overhead camera, btw. Can't wait for next week.👽
This made me buy the Alien RPG while it's on sale. Running Chariot of the Gods tomorrow.
It's not Friday without Mystery Quest!
The players and tom are always great, and the editing is always fantastic, really adds to the atmosphere.
Love whenever Trott is in RPGs
So great start to this story. It couldn't have gone better. Lots of love from an excited space nerd :)
FINALLY! I've been waiting for ages for you guys to play the Alien TTRPG!
Tom has the absolute best intros. Always put a smile on my face.
Love Trotts character. Slimy company types just brings the rest of the crew together
They really went all out with the sound design and lighting for this episode
I'm so excited to see another Alien campaign! I am loving Ben's "push every roll" approach for his character.
Love the Alien-esk sound effects like the computers and that
Ben pushing every roll just to show off is absolutely peak
ben freaking out at the arilock was actually pretty unnerving
loved the sound effects in this one
Like the channel. Good players and good gm, no one is over the top for the sake of the camera/audience. Will follow this series for sure.
Best Mystery quest since Mothership
YEEESSS! Ever since Upsilon I've been waiting for this! Thank you Tom and everybody there!

This one has actually made me feel really tense. Good job guys
Awesome :3 Really like the characters so far, and the sound design is very nice :)
Love Trott's character
I absolutely loved this epusode. I'm immediately into the atmosphere (heh) of this setting, can't wait to see more
Yaaayyy thanks big Tom for putting this together!!
This is already shaping up to be another brilliant mystery quest series. Fingers crossed it's over 20 sessions 🤓
I guess Rye could just be a failsafe if someone dies early on(which seems kinda likely at this point), but in the Alien universe, I'm also suspecting they're a milkman

Love the alien setting, can’t wait for next week!

The editing on these is always so good!

Love this - super creepy, great cast of players and PCs. Cannot wait to see where this goes, especially with the hidden agendas.
Chris Trott is a treasure!
Such nice production on this I thought it was sponsored. looking forward to more!
all your videos are a HIT ! love them, keep it up !
~Party doesn't nearly die getting out of cryo like in Mothership~
Ben: Hold my beer
😆
I love how the corpo sounds just like the Wretched Royalty character from your Mork Borg game😂
I love quality of sound, camera and GM and players, happy to start following today
Trott's character reminds me so much of Squidward, the part where he ease drops i imagine him clinging to the ceiling with his suction cups
Mystery Quest? Yes please. Alien related content? Yes please. Also what a great group of players!
I'm currently halfway through the first episode, getting ready to binge this amazing series today. 👍🏼 Well done, crew
Can't wait for Ben to risk everything to impress an alien
Finally an other game from Free League!!
Love this series, I will strongly look forward for the next episode.
But I will keep asking for Vaesen, Nordic Horror, as is my favourite game and I would love to see you guys playing it!!
Woo! Taking a long lunch to watch this. I love space trucker's misadventures! And I love this group for it.
I’ve re listened this episode for the second time now
Tom I can’t stress enough his enough, this episode is soo good. Really looking forward and I can’t wait until Friday!!!!
Trott and Lydia are incredible in this
Oooh, this is an allstar cast
This is the best cast lineup yet
LET'S GOOO!!! I CANNOT WAIT! WOOO!!!
Oh heck yes! I was wondering if they'd do Alien RPG after Motherhship. And my dream was answered.
Absolutely love this episode. I feel this series is a GREAT one!
The odds that Tom recorded his Mystery intro with one of his lemon shirts, and didn't turn up to the recording with one his lemon shirts - incalculable
