Just wanted to let everyone know that world of tanks is an awesome game. And just because it’s free to play, and is being advertised in a sponsored segment of a TH-cam video, it’s not at all like raid shadow legends. Not only is WoT an actual game, it’s really good.
I made a bunch of videos on some the titles that were not officially released for ngage but for symbianos. Some of them are really impressive. Some neat 3d games and some cool homebrew level games. As well as the games created specific for the ngage. Feel free to use any of it. My video quality sucks though.
Shadowkey's combat is based on Morrowind's combat. It runs on a dice-roll system, so not all of your attacks are going to land. The likelihood of landing hits is based on stamina, your character's levels, and whether the weapon you use is appropriate for your build. And at low levels it's just a bit of a swing-fest.
@@Draggobuttboi one of the first things I remember in morrowind is the bound item cheat glitch where you duplicate the effect bonus buff and essentially max out a stat so you could never miss if it was a weapon Stat. That being said I don't think I would be so into morrowind without that glitch because yeah that shit sucks
@@ZalYagunRyai I first played Morrowind on the Xbox when I was too young to understand the rng behind the combat. My solution was to only use summons and on touch destruction spells. Worked out for the most part.

Been waiting so long to see this video! It sounds like a great idea to do more NGage content; as someone who loves handhelds, this is a system that has gone under my radar until recently but one I'd love to learn more about. Would love to hear about the civilizations port, the COD port, Crash Nitro Kart port, the X-Men Legends ports, and the Warhammer 40K game next! Thank you guys so much for this awesome content.
Civilization could use a keypad so it could have some great controls and even modern smart phones have civilization revelations and it works okay with touch controls - turn based games can work work well with touch or keypad controls because they are less taxing and usually have multiple choices for turn actions.
Have u ever seen a gizmondo? I wanted one when they first released but i never managed to get one probly was a good thing i didnt tho cos it flopped and went bankrupt prety soon lol
Got my NGage on the cheap (50 bucks) from the manager at the Game Stop I worked at (he had gotten it for free from the company) shortly after launch. I loved Tony Hawk on it and played it on my break everyday for nearly 3 years before I retired the "taco" and got a flip phone.
Props for all the good Timesplitters music! N. Gage is that one thing I remembering hearing about when it was announced but never really seeing anything about it, so I appreciate these 2 videos uploaded in recent times.
Real talk, the best part about this channel is getting to vicariously experience super weird video game things I'd never be able to through these videos. So as long as it doesn't cause you all to miss rent or bills: heck fuckin' yeah I want to see co-op Elder Scrolls on N-Gage.
As a fan of Palladium, I'm curious of what the N Gage Rifts game is like. I have low expectations and won't mind not seeing anything. Still, throwing out there that at least someone is interested.
I actually love the “frame not analyzed for stabilization” at 7:32 lol. I’m sure that wasn’t intentional but I actually like it being there, it fits the vibe of the ngage.
@@whiteeagle9769 But ESO came out before Fallout 76, but it wasn't the first multiplayer Elder Scrolls game, nor is Shadowkey, that would be The Elder Scrolls Legend: Battlespire.
I always liked the features of the N-Gage and was actually interested in one at the time. It was very ahead of its time. In retrospect, if they cut down the cost and managed to create a library of premium games I think it would've done better.
Don't know how many hours I put into Tomb Raider on the Ngage. Came with my old taco NGage. Loved the NGage. It was amazing for thr time and I got it just after the revision came out so for a bargain and specs were far better for the money than anything else out there. Never made calls so no problems with the odd holding
I had a lot of fun with the NGAGE back in its day. Once I ran out of native games to play I started exploring Symbiam native games and I absolutely loved playing silly J2ME action games in it, I ran through the entire Splinter Cell java games, the controls made it a great option over other phones in the market for J2ME games.
The reason you were missing your melee attacks in Shadowkey, as far as I remember, is that the older Elder Scrolls games (for some reason), had a random chance for you to miss your melee attacks each time.
Yep. Hitiing enemies in early Elder Scrolls games also calculates your stats so you can physically hit something and keep missing because rng hates you and you have bad stats.
It's not for "some reason", it's to emulate pen & paper RPG's & CRPG's. Your attack success is based on a dice roll influenced by your & the enemy's stats. It's also not THAT uncommon in the genre, especially at that time.
@@Cooe. I like some aspects of Pre-Oblivion ES, but if I'm directly in front of an enemy and I swing my sword, that should be a guaranteed hit, its not indicated very well that its a result of your stats
YES when you said it was coming soon it surprised me to not see it in the next 2 days but it was worth the wait. Stop skelton's from fighting keeps getting better, still waiting on the zeebo though
I adore my little N-Gage QD. My favourite game on it is The Sims: Bustin Out. Yes, it's a GBA port but it uniquely has an in-game mobile phone with its own mobile phone games that you can collect and play on it. Magic. The other wonderful thing about the N-Gage that is rarely mentioned is that it is fully compatible with thousands of J2ME/Symbian games which are much nicer to play with the D-pad and buttons than they are on other phones of its time.
As someone who is building his own media archive (including getting original hardware, digital converters, and even reproduction cartridges), I feel your pain, Uncle Derek. Your dedication to purity is most appreciated.
After seeing your original N-Gage video, I got curious to try out one of the exclusive games for it. So, I started playing Ashen via an emulator. And coincidentally, an online acquaintance recently got a physical N-Gage and had Ashen ready to go, so he ended up joining me. Never in my life would I have thought I would play an N-Gage game with someone else and frequently talk about our progress and experience.
My first phone was the N-Gage QD. I loved that thing, way ahead of it's time. I mean, it was a disaster, but I loved it. It had several standout games, such as the first two Asphalt games (which even had music with lyrics) and a fighting game with amazing graphics which I think was called "One".
I loved my N-Gage! I thought it was cumbersome having to remove the battery before I can change games, side talking was quite a “what were they thinking?” thing, but I still had a blast with mine! However, not counting downloaded Java games, or the bundled Flow Boarding game, I only owned 7 games: Sonic N (got with the system) Super Monkey Ball (got for birthday) Pandemonium! (bought with Christmas money) The Sims: Bustin’ Out Pocket Kingdom: Own The World (got for Christmas the following year) Worms World Party Puyo Pop (bought during a trip to Florida 2 months before I started college) As happy as I was with my N-Gage, especially since I never owned a cellphone prior to it, and even though it was still functioning just fine by the time I was about to start college, my mom felt I needed to have a “proper” cellphone, so she gave me her old Motorola V500 as a hand-me-down. I downloaded many games to that V500, including an Atari compilation, a skipping stone game, Gulo’s Tale and Panic Bomber!
Tony Hawk does have music/sound! It’s just off by default whenever I load up a fresh save on a fresh N-Gage tho. Still, love to see more love for this disaster of a handheld!
With all the cool mods and parts you can get for GBA and other retro consoles, I wonder if you could rig up a better screen or at least button membranes. Great vid!
Speaking of the N-Gage, there's a game called Glimmerati that is absolutely superb. It's a top down racing game from Bugbear (Wreckfest, Flatout, Ridge Racer Unbounded) that is an N-Gage exclusive.
13:47 Shadowkey was probably designed like the pre-Oblivion games, Uncle Derek. All attacks have individual dice rolls, thus you don't hit enemies with every swing.
I played THPS on the Ngage QD SOOOOO much, like SO much... so many hours and commutes to work and stuffs with that beauty. I think I still have my QD around and side loaded every single game available.
I'd absolutely love to see more n-gage coverage as this is the first ever dive into the experience I've seen, and I've been watching a lot of TH-cam. Thanks for this video!
I am so glad Ashen was mentioned. I picked up a lot of review carts for the N-Gage a while back and it's probably the best game I've played on the console so far!
My only interaction with the N-Gage was in Art Class in about 9th or 10th grade. We had free time that day as it was a half day and the teacher didn't wanna teach for a short class so she let us do whatever. A kid had an N-Gage with Tony Hawk and we spent that entire class playing it.
I would love to see more N-Gage videos. There were a lot of interesting titles for the console, and most people don't really know anything about the handheld other than it was a notorious failure. There were decent games made for it, though. I have something like 42 of them. Remember the NES game Faxanadu? There was a sequel that the only console release appeared on the N-Gage. A port of Super Monkey Ball also got released. They did put in some effort into developing games, but it took too long for the good titles to hit the market.
I loved Ashen when it came out. This and the first Asphalt where my go-to games for a time. The better games for the N-Gage for me have always been the strategy ones, though. The Pathway to Glory duology (Jagged Alliance-like by Redlynx, the makers of Trials, considered by many to be the downright *best* games on the machine), High Seize (Advance Wars-like by Redlynx again, my personnal favorite), Pocket Kingdom (which is hard not to view as a precursor to the online strategy games of modern days smathphones), the weird and far too small yet curiously enjoyable port of Worms World Party, even Civilization 2 had a clunky but complete port, and of course "the last game ever published for N-Gage" Warhammer 40k Glory in Death (which at the time was my first foray into Warhammer). There even was a tactital RPG with Rifts - Promise of Power (saddly *plagued* by bugs). The early 2000s were a haven for portable strategy games (Advance Wars, R-Type Command, Metal Gear Acid, Jeanne D'Arc, all the SNES and PS1 japanese ports we never got at the time...) and the N-Gage, although far less preeminent, had its fair share of the glory.
I would love to see more N-Gage stuff. A N-Gage QD was my first gaming "console" (long story, but got a not-for-sale model through family), so it's always fun to see it get brought again
I'm DYING for you to take a look at the N-Gage version of Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory. It looks so rough but apparently it got some pretty good reviews back in the day.
FUN FACT: The N-Gage was the first ever handheld that got a Call of Duty game: the DS, PSP, and PS Vita all didn't get theirs until much much later. The GBA, 3DS, and Switch all doesn't even had a Call of Duty game throughout their whole dominant existence.
I realize this video is almost a year old, but the reason you only sometimes hit enemies in Shadowkey is because every time you hit something, a dice roll happens. So even when you hit, a behind-the-scenes dice roll happens to determine if you actually hit the enemy or not. It worked the same way in TES1 and TES2, which was inspired by classic table top RPGs like Dungeons and Dragons. When you swing and don't hit, even though you are in range, it is suppose to represent the enemy dodging the attack or you fumbling or something. The more you level up your STR and AGL, the more likely you are to hit.
Did you know that Goldfinger made a modern video of Superman where all of the bands are singing in their own home during these Corona times? It's true! TH-cam it! It's amazing! ^_^ It is after all, the best song in Tony Hawk. My friend hated how I'd restart the Competition stage just to get Superman song. Eeh, the first Elder Scrolls Multiplayer game was Battlespire.
Tbf while Tony Hawk's Pro Skater for N-Gage technically was the only handheld port of the game for a while, just two years later came out PSP, which could run PS1 games with no issues. I currently still often play THPS2 and THPSU on my PS Vita.
I love that the Red Faction part of the video uses Timesplitters music. I don't think there's any message being said or anything. I think he just needed music and chose Timesplitters. And I love Timesplitters.

Play Tony Hawk on the N-Gage.
11:32 Duke Nukem on GBA was an original game but you probably knew that already
15:06 taking you back to the past.... to play the shitty games that suck ass
He'd rather haaaaaaaaave a buffalo

Can't wait to hear Derek talking about Miles High Pinball and Rifts: Promise of power
I love the love you have for oddball handheld systems and games. I never know where your next video is going!
Props for all the good Timesplitters music!
N. Gage is that one thing I remembering hearing about when it was announced but never really seeing anything about it, so I appreciate these 2 videos uploaded in recent times.
Shadow Key multiplayer? No turning back now, you gotta live up to your name.
Battlespire is in the corner crying, now. I hope you're happy, Derek!
I actually love the “frame not analyzed for stabilization” at 7:32 lol. I’m sure that wasn’t intentional but I actually like it being there, it fits the vibe of the ngage.
FIRST ELDEN RING, AND NOW A VIDEO FROM STOP SKELETONS FROM FIGHTING?? this is the best fucking day ever
I would love to see the elders scrolls multiplayer!
Morrowind has a multiplayer mod called tes3mp that's honestly the best MP TES experience you can ever get, even over TES Online
@@ori.g4mi I imagine TES Online to be like the Fallout 76 of TES
@@whiteeagle9769
But ESO came out before Fallout 76, but it wasn't the first multiplayer Elder Scrolls game, nor is Shadowkey, that would be The Elder Scrolls Legend: Battlespire.
I'm down for more N-Gage. Never looked into the system much but was always fascinated by a pre-PSP, pre-DS 3D handheld thing.
“Why have a auto run feature?” The next sentence: “my thumbs hurt from using the d pad so much.”
The problem is the auto run *contributed* to that
@@romajimamulo he said he didn’t use it and then complained he used his fingers too much and strained them.
@@itachi1145 you can see in the video that it's turning on unintentionally
That John Romero N gage link is so funny. I feel like the guy could just never back the right horse after awhile
Finally here!
Thank you Daddy Derek, for doing the stupid shit, and inspiring me to embrace my own stupid shit
I can't hear that name without thinking of Derek Savage.

However, not counting downloaded Java games, or the bundled Flow Boarding game, I only owned 7 games:
Sonic N (got with the system)
Super Monkey Ball (got for birthday)
Pandemonium! (bought with Christmas money)
The Sims: Bustin’ Out
Pocket Kingdom: Own The World (got for Christmas the following year)
Worms World Party
Puyo Pop (bought during a trip to Florida 2 months before I started college)
As happy as I was with my N-Gage, especially since I never owned a cellphone prior to it, and even though it was still functioning just fine by the time I was about to start college, my mom felt I needed to have a “proper” cellphone, so she gave me her old Motorola V500 as a hand-me-down. I downloaded many games to that V500, including an Atari compilation, a skipping stone game, Gulo’s Tale and Panic Bomber!
Side note: I've always loved how the Punching Weight intro is reminiscent of Street Fighter II.
Derek is the only guy who can narrate a WoT commercial so engaging that I'd willingly watch it.
No one ever talks about the Ngage. A thorough exploration of the device would be amazing, more Ngage content please :D
"Don't want to see more N-Gage videos?" Oh Uncle Derek, I want to see ALL THE N-GAGE VIDEOS!!!!😆😆👍
When I was a kid I wanted the N-Gage so bad. I still want one
I don't think it's possible to say how much I love that you timestamp the "Hey I'm Derek It's Me Derek!...
Uncle Derek You have to do an Episode of Portable Tony Hawk Games i.e. THUG2 Remix for PSP
Love the authentic N-gage QD experience where the rubber flaps have all been ripped off, because someone dared to use them more than once.
I am so glad Ashen was mentioned. I picked up a lot of review carts for the N-Gage a while back and it's probably the best game I've played on the console so far!
I have à N-Gage back in time ^^* thanks for this Nostalgia ^^
I'm so sorry
These N-Gage videos brought me to your channel! Long time N-Gage fan, thanks for doing this!
Any Tony Hawk 1 port, and remakes with out Super-Man by Goldfinger isn’t a real Tony Hawk game. That’s an imposture.
7:33 Phew! For a second there I was worried the frames wouldn't be analyzed for stabilization upsidedown. I'm glad they were.
I've always wanted a N-gage. Gotta love 3D attempts on mobile phones from that era
7:31 anyone else see the upside down "frame not stabilized" caption on screen?
ShadowKey had more RPG elements than Skyrim.
I would love to see more N-Gage stuff. A N-Gage QD was my first gaming "console" (long story, but got a not-for-sale model through family), so it's always fun to see it get brought again
Sipping tea from my SSFF mug while I appreciate the hell out of this video, the distillation of everything I adore about this channel.
Oh man, great video, and I got a legit chuckle out of the warp stabilizer bar, I'm glad to see I'm not the only one who does that!
the title of this video perfectly encapsulates why I love this channel, the obscure corners of the already obscure!
Yes, more N-Gage! Do it!
I need to play my N Gage. It’s just that finding a battery and a SIM card is a pain in the ass!
I think in the last video Uncle Derik gave a shout out to an ngage subreddit or something that really helped him out with all of this
I'm DYING for you to take a look at the N-Gage version of Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory. It looks so rough but apparently it got some pretty good reviews back in the day.
The port of Asphalt Urban GT in N-Gage is really something. I never found out that it was a port of a DS game until some years ago.
For some reason I've seen people playing N-Gage on planes multiple times, but never anywhere else
14:17 actually, 1997's "An Elder Scrolls Legend: Battlespire" was the first Elder Scrolls game with multiplayer.
Great as always, but I want bluetooth N-gage multiplayer!
You spelled n-gage right.
@@pickleshanks got to love auto correct thinking N-Gage was a misspelling 🤣
