Tiffany, that dress fits you perfectly. Good job! You and your darling girl look so beautiful in your dresses. I believe that child pattern is just over the head with no fasteners, so it might be perfect for Project Dress a Girl, do you think?
Hello, Marcia! Thank you so much for watching and for such a kind comment, it means so much to me! That’s a great thought, Marcia, for project dress a girl. This pattern is made for knit fabrics and I think the project dress a girl dresses have to be made with cotton fabrics but I could be wrong on that. If you could find a way to modify the neckline with some elastic, you might be able to use cotton fabrics for this pattern as it is very oversized and wouldn’t be too confining in cottons. Love the dress and the fabric! I made the exact same changes that you did. lol. Do you think using clear elastic would be a good idea for the shoulders and waist?
Hello, Cassie! Thank you so much for watching! You definitely could add clear elastic at the shoulders and waist. It would give you a little more stability if your fabric is very slinky. The rib knit I’ve used is holding up the weight of the dress very well so far so I haven’t used the elastic but it’s definitely a good idea. Did you post your final version on Insta, Cassie? Love that you just nipped that bodice in a little - makes the overall look so flattering!, but honestly,it’s Staycation dress that’s No. 1 in my opinion!! Ps completely agree with you re making “mini” bodice toile - I always do that if it’s a new style for me in particular. Right now I am battling the Princess seams on a McCalls tunic shirt pattern! I have some gorgeous orange batik fabric that will look great as a tunic over white trousers for summer but I definitely am not going to cut into it until I have these so-so seams sorted! 😂

Hello Tiffany. I like both styles of dresses. But you know which one fits the best and you feel good in. Your mommy n me dresses were so cute. Looked like you were at a green house too. I’ve been thinking aka dreaming about sewing for sure but getting some plants and flowers to plant has been on my mind too. Feeling stronger but have times when I feel fairly weak and get so achy. Yesterday was one of those days. We’ve had soo much rain too. Our weather guy said we are above what we need. And soo happy, today the sun is out and no wind! I’ll try to get out later, once my hubs is home from golfing, and get an outside walk in. Still going to p t which isn’t a fav for me, but I have to get mobility in my knee. It’s stiff but gaining flexibility. Slow process. Take care and have a great week and lots of fun sewing too. Nancy. Ps my daughter got my sewing area cleaned and straight for me when I’m ready to sew. Yah! For wonderful daughters!

We did indeed visit some greenhouses over the weekend. We have quite a large Amish presence here across southern Indiana, one of the largest being the settlement in Daviess County where I’m originally from. My mother, sister, Addy and I made a girls day of it and visited 3 Amish Greenhouses last Friday and it was such fun. Also found more than enough beautiful flowers to brighten up my porches!

I love the mommy and me matching outfits. I did not sew clothing when my girls were that age. Now they are 17 and I don't think they would appreciate matching outfits. I guess I will have to wait for Grandma and me matching outfits if I'm lucky. LOL.

Tiffany, I rarely make a sample either before making up a garment. I usually make just the back and front of the garment just to see if it will fit shoulders, bust, waist; the waist is my biggest concern🤣 I’m getting better with sizing but I’m going to venture into other alteration techniques. I love the mother/daughter dresses.
