InFamous made me realize the power of electricity and how much its underrated compared to fire
Same, it made me became a convert to preferring Lightning as a power. I’ll forever Ride the Lightning thanks to this game, and the Metallica album.

inFAMOUS has such a profound impact on my life that the comic I’ve been writing for sometime stars a character with his powers.
tbh i always preferred lightning if i could use it in any game, its just the coolest looking and feels the coolest as well
In inFAMOUS 2, they use the graphic novel style cutscenes with Cole's narration a lot less than in the first game. Because the cutscene presentation is so much better in 2, they used normal cutscenes a lot more, and I think it ultimately led to better storytelling. As they say: "Show, don't tell."
True. InFamous 2 basically takes 1 and says "Let's do this, but better"

The Infamous PS3 games really deserve to get a PS5 Remaster of the collection.
Or make the ps5 backwards compatibility with ps1, ps3, and ps3 games.

Also Prototype 2 sold so poorly it killed the series while inFamous got 3 more games after inFamous 2...

Yeah infamous was better than prototype in my opinion and I didn’t even have a PlayStation. I bought prototype because infamous wasn’t on Xbox. But prototype was basically the infamous for Xbox
I was present during the heat of the Prototype vs. InFamous debate, and what happened is that while initially Prototype did in fact overshadow InFamous 1 (a lot of people constantly said P was better than I), when I2 came out the series acquired some "prestige" that Prototype never got to have, and P2 pretty much buried the series, establishing InFamous as the legendary game/series with superpowers. So yeah, there was some serious debate with them at the start, with P leading, but ultimately I won the war by far.
Probably because prototype got a port to PS4 while infamous has remained a ps3 exclusive

One of my favourite games of all time. Great story, awesome powers, satisfying traversal abilities , varied side missions and an excellent plot twist. Love this game so much.

I like Prototype more. I don't know what, but sometimes in this game is special, something really videogamey, something unique.
I don't understand how anyone can say this. I mean don't get me wrong. If infamous didn't exist, prototype would have made a huge impact. It's timing was awful and infamous was just far superior. I bought both at the same time and never finished prototype. As many times as I tried.

When they're on the roof top just chilling kicking back beers in a time lapse is one of my favorite moments of gaming.
"I hopped on TH-cam to leave Jirard a comment telling him how much I loved his video. I told him how the jokes were on point, the review was solid, and the critiques were well explained. Honestly Jirard, I appreciate how genuine and fun loving your videos has been from the get-go, and I also appreciate how honest your reviews are too. This game is quite important to me, and I'm not at all bummed at the criticism at the story, I can even agree on that much. If it's somehow possible, I'd love to see you cover the rest of the games, including 2 of course, even the Festival of Blood expansion game, along with Second Son and First Light to see how they compare.
I also wanted to point out, even though I haven't read any myself, there is a comic book adaptation of inFAMOUS 1 handled by DC Comics of Batman fame, so it could be that better rendition of the story we both crave.

Even the extra shards you don't need in inFamous 1 are good to get since you get a power bonus in the sequel for getting them all.
I like that sorta stuff, instead of sequels stripping you of power after you played through the first game to earn them you actually get something back for going that extra mile.

played second son when it came out, was and still is my favorite game ever, finally decided to play infamous 1 today 7 years later lol. What a coincidence, will have to watch the video after my first playthrough :)
Second Son is a great start to the series, as I personally think it is the weakest entry, including both standalone dlc carnival of blood and first light.
I thin infamous 2 is the best game in the series. The first infamous is just really old at this point, but it’s still pretty fun. Second son was good, but kinda short and the powers were kinda similar. I think infamous 2 was since it was longer and had a lot of cool powers. And the vampire DLC
I still play the og inFAMOUS games pretty often. Its a game I grew up with and it holds a special place in my heart

Oh my god, I’m so glad this was done. I never had any idea it was one of the first 120. As for InFamous 2….yeah, not only were the things you had problems with in the first handled extremely well in the second, but they also ramped the stuff you loved _way_ up. One of the best games I’ve ever played. And no matter what anyone says, it’s _wayyyyyy_ better than Second Son. What I’m basically saying is, PLEASE do 2 soon!!!!

I thought Second Son was good. Compared to Infamous 2, I would say it's a step back. It's unfortunate Sucker Punch didn't make another game in the series. Hopefully Sony makes a remaster for the games in the future.

A word of warning to our friend the completionist.
When you get to Infamous 2, there are a few things to look out for, like the online missions, which has three trophies, and they are a pain to work with.
Another thing is the dead drops in the second game, getting them isn't to bad, it's finding them that the problem, because they move around, and you have to get them, because of a trophy.
Those are the big things to watch out for, well, for me they were, and I can't remember anything else right now.
Anyway, love your videos, and wish I could do what you do, and I hope you get to the second game soon, and since the endings aren't the same, for good and bad in infamous 2, then let's hope you like that a bit better.

I just fully completed and platinumed this game myself late last year, for the first time. The worst part of it was easily finding all the blast shards because I did it without using any guides or walkthroughs, because naturally you do collect them as you progress in the game, so checking each and every one off of a list felt like waaaay too much work. So I spent almost seven hours total just looking for the small handful of remaining shards after I had finished both playthroughs and literally everything else. With that said, I've actually never had a problem with how the story is presented in this first game, but I feel like it's a good point, saying that it could have been told better. I love this game and I'm glad that I've completed it too.

When I finished this game, I enjoyed the story so much, it was presented in such an awesome way that it is one of those few game stories I still remember. I think during your review you should say "personally it didnt work for me" instead of "the story is shown in the wrong way" thats just not true, even if you sneak in the fact that "you are going to present evidence for all of your points" I just wanted to know how crazy it was to complete this game

I must not remember but I never remember this game being compared to prototype. This is one of the few games that I would love to see a remaster or just come across it somewhere to replay it. This brings back memories. Thanks for reviewing

Not sure it aged that well. But came out at time when I wasn't playing anything else on my ps3, it pulled me in, and I had a blast. Fond memories, but no desire to replay

Great episode as always, Jirard. I admit, Infamous is one of the games I always wanted to play, but never had the opportunity to. Never had the console for it, so it came and went without me ever indulging in it. Still looks pretty fun, even if it's a tad dated by this point.

This is still my favorite Playstation series of all time, I went back and platinumed them all in November. It was my first PS3 game and I hold it high as a great series. I really wish they would remaster/remake from the ground up for PS5, seeing Cole in HD would make me feel like my childhood has come back to life

After all these years since playing the original Infamous, I only need to unlock two more Trophies for the Platinum: beating the game on the hardest difficulty and...*sigh* finding the last two power cores and I have no idea where they are or if I missed them during a mission sequence to where I can't go back and get them. Infuriating! One of these days when I have an entire day to do absolutely nothing, I should boot up my old Infamous save and just methodically comb through the entire open world map to see if by sheer f'ing luck I can find the final two and then go get my ass whooped facing the final boss in hard mode since I haven't played the game in years! But, it would be so much fun to revisit one of my favorite PS3 series.
I can't wait for the Infamous 2 review, that series deserves alot more attention and love

My main problem with the Infamous games is how there isn't really a post-game. Since the map clears the more side missions you do, clearing completely once they're all done, there are no more enemies to destroy with a full kit. This is even more unfortunate considering there is no ng+ and you get access to both karma path unlocks after clearing both karma endings.
This was the main problem with all mainline Infamous titles that Prototype managed to avoid. And no, user generated content doesn't count as a solution since it's support got discontinued

I know we live in a pretty good age of licensed superhero games with the Arkham series and the PS4 Spider-Man games, but I kinda want more games like Infamous and Prototype where completely original main characters get powers and the player is left to choose to either become the hero or the villain they want to be.
HULK: ULTIMATE DESTRUCTION: “Am I a joke to you?”
Prototype and Infamous are way less similar gamplay-wise than people usually claim. Basically, they're superhero action games where you hover above buildings a lot, but the similarities pretty much end there. For starters, one is about melee combat while the other is a shooter. Prototype is an unrestrained beat'em up with big destruction, while Infamous is more about finesse, understanding the environment, with a lot of platforming sections and a bit of stealth.
Infamous is still my favorite of the two, but they're almost incomparable to be honest.
My favorite series of the PS3 era. This game deserves a remake or a sequel... And if a sequel I would want Cole to come back because if the blast that supposedly killed him and all Conduits in the second game actually didn't in the third game then you could easily say that it didn't kill him either.

Honestly, the inFamous series is quite easy to complete as a whole. The first two entries are a bit more difficult, but still significantly easier than many other games.

Stunts are great on a good playthrough and early on. Evil powers are less versatile and if you wait til the end of the game, you will have less dangerous areas and thus certain enemies will spawn a lot less.
People did not and do not appreciate how good this game is. Same goes for second son.
They are both amazing and a game I actually pursued to fully complete as good and evil.

Knowing what Sucker Punch are capable of these days I'd love to see an Infamous sequels with an older, broodier Cole McGrath.
The thing about the blast shards and how tedious they are to collect is that there’s so many of them and they show you where they are on the map.
So when you are hunting for them you end up looking at the mini map more than actually looking at the game.
If they are gonna show you where they are anyway what’s the point of going after them. They should have made an alternate way to increase your battery. That is actually fun.
Otherwise you are just going to spots on the map. Then to the next one.

This is the one PS3 game that I got the platinum trophy for. Had to use a map for the blast shards as my last trophy to get. Still enjoyed the hell outta this game.
