@@specc_s1452well considering the only nation with true stealth, the F-35 in the LATE 2010s was sold to Nato allies is the US. The B2, F-22 and F-35 have no counterparts in any other nation. The Su-57 or eurofighter are not stealth at all
my main thing that im disappointed with them is that they took forever to release the update, and its still messed up.
I was chatting with enemies while playing the F117. Everyone said they can see the fuel vapors really well. Which is funny because it ran a jet fuel that helped prevent that.
Not only that but it also slanted the exhaust in ways that helped reduce and spread that even more
They probably didn't implemented it ingame. I think the vapor effects is just something like: "if altitide > 5k then enable the vapor effect. It is most likely applied to every aircraft (have to test in dev mode)

Fristly, it's and IR missile. Stealth, at least the one of the F117, is definitely not made to work against IR missiles. Secondly, the F117 was above the battlefield, showing its belly, which is a huge flat area. Stealth does not work at those angles.

yeah true, but with the m3a3, while using the commander sight to guide the TOW, if you don't have enough gun depression with the barrel, yet the commander sight does and you're looking at the target while the barrel doesn't, the TOW will only follow the elevation in which the barrel is pointed at
the commander sight elevation TOW guidance used to be separated from the gunner sight which doesn't have as much depression, but now the TOW will only follow the gunner sight elevation and not the commander's if you're shooting from the commander sight

I learned to love jdams, them things can FLY boy. Sure you can't guide them but I started just aiming for thier AA right when i spawn. If you want to use guided bombs you HAVE to turn when you spawn (or get lucky at normal hights) and climb but the 117 isn't to bad with that. I actually haven't been shot down yet in a ground battle.

It’s “reduction” not complete dissipation, these missiles are very modern and more than capable of locking the smallest heat signature
@@ZLEEP2324 yeah? and where is the "reduction" when a Strela locks F-117 and F-14 at the same range? I will confirm there is a reduction when I see IR missiles lock my Nighthawk at 4km, not 8km.

@ZLEEP2324 The IR reduction is added to the heat signature of the engines making the exhaust come out a lot more diffuse and a lot cooler. They added some kind of cooling mechanism to the where the exhaust comes out on the Nighthawk to combat IR missiles. The missiles look for a very specific temperature range and size. There's a reason why they don't lock on to low flying birds, even though they'd create a heat signature. There's a really cool video about how they built and designed the F-117 but the Real Engineering channel. It's an awesome watch and it'll make you understand more about why people are so disgruntled with the way the plane has been implemented.

Yeah I got front locked by a Stinger and I wasn’t even in range yet.
My first sentence was “how?!” Since I was still like 6km away, and I know the nighthawk has heat sig reducing exhaust ducts. It will get fixed, but cmon bro. A stinger front aspect 6km? That’s a titanic throw on whoever tested the IR signature for the plane, if they even tested or adjusted that at all lol.
Edit: these are dev server problems. How do you get through 4 dev severs and overlook the IR signature of a *Stealth plane* .

F-117 should be almost a hard to lock on as helicopters in the game, also it should have a vapor trail
I understand that stingers are supposed to have good IT sensitivity, but locking onto a F-117 at distances where they normally struggle to even lock onto an after burning jet seems....weird
BF-109 is stealthier than Nighthawk now :D

Hey hunter, I hope you never feel the need to do commentary on your videos, some people like to listen to an overqualified war thunder player (content creators) flap their jaw about what they think, but I actually much prefer the silence and peace of just watching and listening to the game audio. Love your videos more than any other creator channel, mostly because I find creators to be annoying in their opinions and what not. Depending on your speed and altitude, you can drop your JDAM and GBU’s from further out than the circle shows, and they’ll glide a bit using their fins. I can consistently get 7-8 km shots at 1,000 meters at 700km/h if I angle up before lobbing it.

Yeah it’s real BS about the IR signature. He could’ve used the photo-contrast mode thing, but idk about that.
I had an idea though until it’s fixed- you could cut your engines and glide into the Bomb area to reduce the temperature
Keep in mind that the one time a f-117 was shot down was because the bomb bay was open. Open bomb bay makes it way easier to be locked
Why did you stop? Open bomb bay makes it way easier to be locked BY RADARs, my problem was IR missiles like Stinger lock me normally at 7km like if I was flying F-15.

Honestly it would help a little if it atleast got a MAWs seeing as how the 117 was fitted with several sensors, it would allow players to try and evade earlier.
Stealth would work if we had larger maps/ ally fighters in the air.

Probably a marketing move, release a iconic vehicle, make it bad, players will buy it, sales go down, they make it better, and then more sales agian.

its like using a bigger and faster drone but gets ir'd from way further, 2 kills and go back, cant fight, cant defend just get bonkered if seen (which seems easy to do)

gradual zoom likely the scroll wheel on settings by choosing "select scroll wheel action"
I did some testing and it looks like the GBU 27 has a better seeker

At 2:39 the TV seeker of the missile had an EZ task, looking a big black plane in a blue sky without even a cloud... I think F-117 will be a beast in night battle but not much in the days one

@Hunter_i86 the contrast mode works like that, but I gotta say idk if stingers have access to contrast mode (I think they do)

@Hunter_i86 I might be just wrong in my English, but I think the contrast mode is an optical tracking without using the thermal, and there is the thermal tracking.

When anyone else is using the F-15E and you hit "Sight Stabilization" while in the TGP view does it jump up to where the nose of your plane is looking instead of the target you were just trying to lock?

I wanted people to test the F-117 against Pantsir and people kept saying “F-117 won’t face Pantsir, it won’t be used at top tier”
And with the F-117 being bracketed with the Pantsir, I wish I was wrong.
For today, the best advice for average F117 enjoyer is to fly it at lowest possible br 10.0 at bad weather, clouds and shit. Night battles seems to be very rare at this BR.

Irl it was shot down by extreme luck. Just check out mission/loss ratio for this craft. Its features worked perfectly well for 1990s and it was retired jyst in right time.

You should check out the game Nuclear Option! It's an indie game that came out in 2023, I recently heard of it and I'm having a blast. It's even better with a joystick but you can use keyboard/mouse or controller as well. It's a sim-lite game, it's perfect when you need to take a break from WT :D

As always something that is well known from American requires high skill to do well.
This thing wasnt exiting when i heard it was going to be added and this is why. Its not even in the tech tree which is another annoyance. Can be shot down like a normal jet and cant defend itself.
The only thing in this update that was legendary status was America finally got the spaa that it has needed for years.
The F-117 is currently a very dubious aircraft. It is almost useless against IR missiles and the A-10 will be more effective in destroying SAMs simply by not flying within 6 km of the capture range or, in extreme cases, has many countermeasures

I don't understand the mentality of the engineers behind this plane, this aircraft was designed to penetrate the ENEMY AIR DEFENSE SYSTEMS but they decided that it doesn't need an RWR LoL, an RWR would be nice to give the pilot an idea about the general locations of enemy air defense vehicles\sites. Not giving it an RWR is just not understandable by me.
@@Hunter_i86 the only thing i can possibly see is maybe the presence of RWR would somehow interfere with its stealth capability, but then again 5th generation fighters certainly have RWR while also being stealthy

i can clearly say that as a lockhead engineer, people really misunderstood what “stealth” means, stealth not means %100 GHOST even f22 can spot on radar too, that technology is like a curtain of window you can see lights outside but not figure out whats coming…
They said "lower IR" signature, Stinger locked me at the same usual range of locking any other jet, no one wants 100%, I would be happy of 50%, if that Stinger launched at 3.5km instead of 7km I wouldn't say anything.
@ when i take a look on dev server its locking %50 less range than usual (i am talkin about early 90s AA systems im talkin about some zsu and strella), in real life it is exactly same F117 is a early model of stealth

If we are going to keep saying Stinger is modern, Strela has contrast mode, Roland radar locked F-117 from belly, Pantsir S1 can lock it at 14km then I really have no idea why it is called "Stealth", against what should I fly it and feel it is stealth? Against Ostwind maybe?
Even a BF-109 and Mi-24 HIND are stealthier than the Nighthawk for God sake.
It is just not modelled well, and I even heard that after digging in game files in dev server days open\close bomb bay doesn't affect the RCS in War Thunder.

I think the only place this thing will even get a chance to drop its bombs will be in night battles. Otherwise it’s a waste of spawn points.
I fly up to 16000ft/5000m off spawn and throttle to 0% when I start my run, I've yet to be shot down flying said profile

The F-117 can carry weapons with a total weight of 2300 kg in two weapon bays. The F-117 has no radar, no on-board cannon and is not equipped to engage flying targets. Therefore, the designation as ‘F-117’ according to the designation system for aircraft of the US armed forces is completely irregular.

The missile is IR, I should have "lower IR" signature as Gaijin told us in WT website. The missile launched at me at non-rear aspect and I was 8km distance before even I open my bomb bay at 19:12, it is nonsense in my opinion. It should be 4km instead of 8km, they should reduce IR lock distance on F-117 by 50% in my opinion.
@@Hunter_i86 Well im telling that Strela missle itself is capable of locking not by IR signature, but by optical tracking. So the missle doesnt cares about heat signature, only how visible you are on the sky

I'm gonna guess that if the bomb bay doors are open, as is in real life, you have a more prominent loss of stealth signature. You weren't locked on until you opened the bomb bay doors
It was an infra-red missile and doesn't care if you have open bomb bays or not; only engine heat

@@Kraztecit works for rear aspects, yes it decreases detection range from side and rear aspects (not significantly though) from which its exhaust can be seen by IR seeker. Besides that fact it can be locked from any aspect from the same range as any other aircraft due to friction heating (basically it’s the only way how all-aspects IR missiles can lock any plane from any aspect) and because it was developed with RCS reduction in mind (in “old” way of implementing stealth) - its fuselage has a ton of sharp edges and weirdly angled surfaces thus this jet produces a ton of drag which means that its surfaces are way hotter than those of the let say F-16 so it can be locked from further range from front aspect than F-16 but from side and rear aspects the F-16 can be locked from further away cause of hot asf engine with no heat-reduction systems
