      I love coneflowers and blackeyed Susan’s. And so do the Japanese beetles and earwig bugs. I have several plants in my gardens and the bugs devour them every year. I do spray with Neem Oil which helps a little. Your gardens are beautiful!

    You have magnificent plants. Here, in Swizerland, the choice is not so wide. I've collected seeds... but germination is very very difficult. I have tried many ways with very little success. Do you have a tip?

    • @mycarolinagarden
      @mycarolinagarden  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi there! What is the weather like for the most part where you are? I assume you've tried in sunnier locations and shadier ones, so besides weather, I'm wondering if soil could be a problem? I had better luck growing in rich soil than I do in the sandy soil I have now.

    • @muriel7679
      @muriel7679 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @mycarolinagarden my soil is very clayey and heavy. It is like cement. Not ideal texture.

    Can i mix them with Daylillies. My lillies are very well established. I worry that the rhizomes will kill the Cone Flower.

    • @mycarolinagarden
      @mycarolinagarden  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      You really made me think with this question, as that had not occurred to me, and I've never had that problem. My thought is if both plants have room, there shouldn't be competition in that way. I have both flowers NEAR each other, but not super close that this would have been a concern. Thanks for the great question!

    Coneflowers are one of my favorite I have a few types in my garden but I am new to these guys, do you fertilize them ???

    • @mycarolinagarden
      @mycarolinagarden  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, I fertilize them. My black-eyed susans are crazy growers, so I could fertilize them or not, but all the kinds of Echinacea I definitely do. 😄 Good luck, I hope yours look awesome!

    What variety of hosta is that at the beginning of the video? Mine that are supposed to like sun are really struggling. Thanks!

    • @mycarolinagarden
      @mycarolinagarden  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Hi there! Somehow your message slipped through the cracks and I missed it until now - I'm sorry about that! Those Hostas were given to me from my mom, so I'm not sure of the variety, but they are nothing fancy or exotic. They do better in less sun than I have them in and they show heat stress this time of year. I have a lot of them because I always divide and transplant, so I test them in different light conditions. Sorry I wasn't more helpful!

    • @mycarolinagarden
      @mycarolinagarden  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      There are multiple varieties of both native echinacea and hybrids. Native echinacea only comes in purple, pale purple, or yellow.

  • @Trakehner20
    @Trakehner20 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    The seeds if grown, wont back true to type, will they? Figure since theyre not open-pollinated. Like its a hybrid, right?

    • @mycarolinagarden
      @mycarolinagarden  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Open-pollinated seeds (so ones we're currently growing outside) can be saved and grow true to type. When you save the seed from the variety you are growing, and replant the next year, it will grow the same. Unless you mean starting the plants from seeds initially? Which I don't do myself. Sorry if I misunderstood.
