    I removed all of my doubles. Bees like singles so much better. So much fun to see all of the activity. Bonus is the goldfinches that eat the old dried out flower heads.

      This is why I only buy singles, I love watching the bees and other insects on my plants, not to forget the finches and other birds loving the seeds. Nothing better then in winter seeing the stalks sticking out of the snow with birds eating the seeds. Juncos scratching in snow for fallen seed too.

    QUESTION!!! Wow btw, I had no idea there was so many different coneflowers! Thank you for sharing that! I love all coneflowers, they have always been my favorite, but I lost my purple one that I grew from seed last year to some kind of small white worms that invaded the roots. I just bought the most beautiful orangey red one about 3 weeks ago and noticed the color was getting drab. There are vertical cuts in the main stem. Would anyone know what that is and what to do about it? I sprayed it with soap and water but I have no idea if that will save it or kill it. 😢

    I like the combination of Milkshake and Artemesia Powis Castle. I'm attempting a "moon Garden" of drought-resistant plants, so whites, and silver-leafed plants, so those will go well in that.

    • @GardenEvolution
      @GardenEvolution  ปีที่แล้ว

      Sorry for the late reply! It’s a great combo but the artemisia gets really big so best to have it mid part of the border in lean soil or it flops like you see here

    I started a flower garden and went crazy with dahlias but I did plant 4 regular coneflower from seed 2 springs ago. • @GardenEvolution

      When planting new coneflowers I always cut the blooms off after about a week. This helps them concentrate on rooting in and putting more foliage growth at the base before winter

I guess my question is after I cut the spent blooms, are they just done? Or will they bloom again?
