The definition of happiness including friendships, engagement, and work really broadens the perspective...I think it shows how it's the combination of a factor of things that all contributes to the lasting feelings of happiness
I think happiness can be very personal as well. We can be satisfied with what our lives look like even if it is simple and slow and doesn't look like another persons version of what deserves happiness
Loved the emphasis on friendships. True, friends are magic! Building those connections, especially at work, can make a huge difference in our overall happiness.
Happiness as a habit rather than a fleeting emotion makes so much sense... especially when you think about that translating into something we have control over, that's really uplifting.
Her credentials are impressive, and her practical approach to cultivating happiness through habits is both inspiring and actionable. Who knew happiness could be so systematically approached?
The concept of living in "day-tight compartments" to manage anxiety and focus on the present was a standout for me. That's really clever and solid advice

The joy journal idea is fantastic! A simple practice that could really shift the focus from negativity to positivity. Going to give it a try and see how it impacts my mindset.
The only way to really learn it - is to spread that happiness to other people. So hopefully you learned something and please share it with someone else!
I love the proactive approach towards finding happiness, but I think you also have to find those little niche things that are like secrets for your soul that warm you from the inside.

Thinking of happiness in terms of habits, particularly in the context of work is a pretty amazing perspective and also challenges us to redefine success!
I saw a really cool picture about turning thoughts into words and then actions and how that becomes habits and ultimately what your character is. This talk reminded me of that and also to apply it to happiness is amazing.
The title says it all and my view and experience of the world comes from the inside out. What I'm recognizing are my thoughts about it, the stories I create in my mind and the feelings that arise throughout my body; starting in my brain. Metaphorically my core is like a tree. I have to stand strong and weather the inner storm of my creation. My thoughts. That doesn't mean I don't feel sadness, fear or anger etc. What I have discovered is the need for practicing presence and listening. The backtrack of my mind has default setting looking for the poor me dialogue, or this sounds like this, so it must be that. Joy and happiness, this so true about what the speaker is talking about. Thinking is one thing, its in the doing and the practice.
What she says about our work life is spot on... Also doing a job that adds meaning to your life!! This can be huge in terms of turning the "daily grind" into something that gives you awesome returns for your efforts.

I agree with her that we need to recognize the external factors and life experiences that all contribute to the bigger picture of what happiness is and how to achieve it
I can understand why you would think that. Because we don’t usually think that we can find happiness at work. But the research tells us that if we can find satisfaction and fulfillment from our job it will lead to overall happiness in our lives. Now , how to do it? Start with friends at work. That’s a great place to start. It can be a game changer!

The insight that success at work must be earned and tied to helping others is thought-provoking. It adds a new perspective on finding fulfillment in our careers beyond just financial gain. 💼🤝
I think it’s a really helpful way to think about purpose. So many of us hear about purpose but don’t really know how to “find it.” What I am saying here is your purpose is doing something for someone else that they can’t do for themselves. That’s your purpose. And we can all figure that one out. Thank you for watching!
Building friendships and leveraging strengths - makes sense for a positive workplace culture, if only we had the maturity to ensure the politics weren't so engulfing!
