You can tell how much Greg loves Twin Peaks from the amazing homage you guys did. Thank you for doing justice to my favorite television show of all time. Fantastic episode!
Came here to say the very same. This and Halloween have inspired me to rewatch some of the series. I own every copy on every format since the show aired. Great video.
“Hot new show Gulf War coverage” got me. Haven’t laughed that hard in a long time. I loved the whole thing, the care and love in this one is obvious. Well done!
This video took a *lot* of effort, a lot of ducks somehow falling in line, a lot of sourcing, etc - because productions like this just DO. I'm so glad it all came through for you; it turned out so well!
I've loved this since I was 11. It's as nostalgic as any cartoon you've covered. I still remember when I was away on a school trip as a kid, sharing a hotel room, we were supposed to be asleep and got caught watching TV, but when our teacher saw it was Twin Peaks, he said that was cool, but just to turn it off straight after. What a legend.
I love watching these histories every Thursday, but man, I really love the extra treat when y'all stretch your creative legs and make something like this. To be honest, I've never gotten into Twin Peaks (it's hard enough for me to concentrate on a whole series, let alone a seemingly incomprehensible one from David Lynch), but I can tell how much care and effort went into invoking that spirit. Thanks for a fun ride!
The minute I hear someone start reciting "This is the water, and this is the well..." I get shivers. Those damn terrifying woodsmen! This was so well done! Great job, everybody! I'll see you again in 25 years for a rundown on The Return.
I just recently watched all of Twin Peaks for the first time, the first two seasons, the movie and The Return. Despite being a huge Lynch fan, I’d never seen it. Now I can’t stop thinking about it.
In other hands this could have been dodgy but the homage was remarkably well done. Very well acted, edited, and scored. Logs and owls everywhere are pleased.
wow was not expecting this level of production and care. It doesn't just show love for the source material, but a deep appreciation to the craft of film-making. Bravo
Big fan of both Twin Peaks and Cheers. My go-to all-time TV favorites, like choosing between a delicious pie and perfectly prepared NY strip. Thanks for the awesome homage. Love the channel.
Easily your most creative entry yet. This is amazing and I am here for it. I don’t know that every video should go this deep, but I would be far from upset to see you guys flex again like this in the future. You did Lynch proud.
This episode, because of the subject matter, requires something more than Dan in front of his wall of toys and flashes of cartoons and commercials. I'm just waiting for the facts to come in.
@@genomstudios2159 We do get Dan and his wall eventually. But this episode is refreshingly different from what he usually does. And yet, it is also the same. Go figure.

Thanks! I just wanted to say this is your best video to date, and while I did not see Twin Peaks till the mid 00's after finding it "online" as an adult, I loved every minute of it!!
It was surreal, as a kid watching Desert Storm coverage AND this in real time. Also, I liked the Lynch version of Dune, it's what got me to read the Herbert book.
MY GOD GUYS. WOW. Just WOW. This hit me on a VISCERAL level man. I became a fan of Twin Peaks and watched both entire series and the movie, in proper order, about a year or two ago, and never forgot it, to the point I can still recall how I felt physically in vivid detail, while watching many of the iconic scenes. So of course when the guy starts reciting the Woodsman's chant, I felt a jerk in my body and my jaw dropping to the floor just as it had when I first saw that episode, and i started involuntarily RECITING THE CHANT WITH HIM... ... so I guess you could say Twin Peaks made an impression on me. Also, PLEASE tell me that what the lady says in the Red Room means that you will be doing another one of these about The Return. Thank you guys, this was a nice surprise. Also, it's scary how well Dan cleans up, and how well he can channel his inner "Coop!"
This show was ahead of is time too bad if it had been made today, it probably would’ve been hailed as one of the greatest shows ever and had more episodes
As a native of the Pacific Northwest this show really did do a lot to establish the rest of the nation’s perception of us that still lingers so many years later. (For better and for worse) It made obscure regional references and really got how underdeveloped this region was during the timber industry years. It also rode on the coat tails of Stand By Me and River’s Edge which were also northwest themed “you wanna see a dead body?” kind of stories.
That was a DAMN FINE cup o'Homage there, guys. Captured the uneasy WTFery of Lynch's work really well. I was a teenager when Twin Peaks was on, and I don't think my attention span could handle it at the time because I didn't sit down and watch it fully, but I loved the style of it all. Love the channel and love your work!!
What an excellent episode! For anyone who never saw the show, you captured the atmosphere perfectly. Well done! I'll never forget sitting down with a friend to watch the first episode (although I didn't remember the date or year -- thanks for the reminder!). We were expecting something wacky and weird - it's David Lynch! -- but we were unprepared for how shaken, disturbed and, frankly, depressed we were afterwards; the final scene of Sarah Palmer waking up screaming from a dream really left us both unnerved. Soon, figuring out what was really happening on this very enigmatic show became a pastime for my circle of friends. It was truly unlike anything made for TV at the time. Thanks for the great video tribute!
I love watching David Lynch's daily weather report. He also has a lot of good short films and some Q and A videos too. On his TH-cam channel David Lynch Theater.
One thing that really shows how much TV has changed is that Twin Peaks was cancelled when it was getting 7-10 million viewers per episode. The Return was hailed as a success when Showtime estimated 2 million viewers per episode between first-run TV, repeats during the first week, and streaming.
FYI. Twin Peaks pilot aired on Sunday April 8, 1990. After that the episode ran on Thursdays at the same time as Cheers. As mentioned, the season finale, aired on Wednesday May 23, 1990 to stay away from Cheers.

Amazing homage - you nailed SOOO much of this, but especially the sound design!! What really make Twin Peaks work, in it's strange 'nightmare you just can't wake up from' aesthetic was the unrelenting background white noise, and you guys had it down perfectly. I could say a lot more in praise of this ep, as TP was quite an important moment in my life for various reasons, but I'd just end up rambling more than I am now. Just really, really glad you guys did this. Thank you.
Hats off to Greg, Dan, and the whole cast and crew! Love the homage to Twin Peaks! I still remember watching it for the first time when it aired on ABC.

My son and I saw most of the cast of Twin Peaks at Spooky Empire in Orlando, FL this past weekend. It was pretty awesome. We spoke with Ray Wise. He was really nice. I loved the show from inception. My 15 year old learned about it from Psych. He now loves Twin Peaks as well. You guys did a great job on this episode.

The best episode of TG yet! Thank your to Greg for doing such an amazing job, and Dan was fantastic as Coop. This series means a great deal to me, in the U.K. it was equally as ground breaking. Thank you.
Visited "Twin Peaks" (I live near North Bend, WA) many times. Very cool place to visit and to eat at the RR Diner (they have it still dressed up externally) as the RR and have a ton of memorbeila from the show inside. Decent food and good cherry pie. The diner (set) on the show is a spitting image of the real diner. The actual "Twin Peaks" sign shown on the show is in the visitors center.
I always knew of Twin Peaks but I had never actually seen it. I watched this early via Patreon and it really peaked my interest. Started streaming it on Paramount that same day :)
It *piqued* your interest. :) And it's great that it did! "If something piques your interest, it gets your attention in a way you just can't ignore. When your interest is piqued, you want to follow up and learn more about whatever excited you."
Wow! This sets a new bar for episodes! What an excellent homage to Twin Peaks and history on the series. I live in Washington State and traveled several times to the actual diner in North Bend. Fantastic work Dan, Greg and crew. So much love put into every bit. Bravo!
I always love watching someone on TH-cam that inspires & entertains me and then finding out they share some of my most crucial interests. As a mega TP fan from the time it aired, I could tell you guys had a blast doing this heartfelt tribute, and I was applauding the entire way through. Kudos!
I'm a long time watcher of toy/secret galaxy. Each week is really well done, but this was so well done I just had to leave a comment to say how much I enjoyed it and how well done it was. The above and beyond effort that went into this is really appreciated. Keep up the good work!
Make more movies! ;) An excellent history (as always!), and a superb tribute to the show itself and its legacy, and fan-feckin'-tastic work on the music, too! The theme song remains one of my favorites of all time, and it puts me right back to 1991! Incidentally: my sister lives in Snoqualmie, and it is both beautiful and...a bit creepy. And just a bit further up I-90 from there is Roslyn, Washington, which is where Northern Exposure was filmed!
This was just staggeringly good. Staggeringly good. The love and passion put into this was clear. Your content is always so, so polished, but with was another level. Greg, Dan this was beautiful. Thank you. 🙌
Who in their right mind is following that “skip the story” notice at the beginning? This is primo gold right here boys. Love it, best one y’all have done so far. Seeing our fearless hero Dan in the Red Room has made 2022 for me.
Well I'm younger than the show, and whilst I won't quite know how big a deal it was, I liked the show very much. Need to watch FWWM and the Return still too
@LJW1912 just wait til season 3 hahaha Makes season 1 and 2 look like Little House on the Prairie Just finished the series last weekend, and it's now my all time fave. Holy mix of themes, character stories, and occult symbolism
Hilarious yet serious coverage and tribute to Twin Peaks. Scared the crap out of me as a kid but it really was a gateway to the future of society and TV. Well done!!!
As an obsessive Twin Peaks fan of around 20 years, just want to say this was a joy! Can tell all the work you put into it, and it's absolutely wonderful!
Not related to the video, but our man Dan Larson was on The History Channel's The Toys That Built America. Just throwing that out there. I see you, Dan. It's weird seeing him in a suit.
Did you know: The composer of Twin Peeks is a name inspiration for Angelo, the controller of the stand Aqua Necklace from Jojo's Bizarre Adventure: Diamonds Is Unbreakable.
"Wow, Greg, wow!" What a fantastic video and a truly loving homage. Well done! I was a kid when Twin Peaks aired and was only semi-aware of it as a cultural phenomena at the time that burned bright but faded fast (at least here in Australia). A few years later I was in highschool on the way to study film and media and a fan of stuff that touted TP as an influence like X-Files, so I decided to rent the Twin Peaks VHS tapes (big clamshell packs of several episodes a piece) and finally watch it. I was blown away and became an instant fan, and have been ever since. The show had a big influence on me as a writer and viewer alike. It really is one of those "lightning in a bottle" pieces of media where everything just aligned for a moment and we got something very special indeed.
I'm not even that into Twin Peaks or Lynch in general, but this was incredibly fun to watch. Phenomenal work as always, congrats to the whole team and Greg especially.
Hats off to the dedication that went into making this video. Twin Peaks is such a unique, beautiful, surreal show. It's an unforgettable show. I'll never forget the first time I watched it. It'll always remain etched in my memory for as long as I live. ♥️🙏
I want to see Twin Peaks at some point partly due to both Snoqualmie and North Bend have leaned into it as tourism, but also to fill out a trilogy of shows that have similar tones to it. Northern Exposure was filmed just on the other side of Snoqualmie Pass in Rosalyn at the same time as Twin Peaks by Universal for CBS, for the exteriors only due to most of the interiors were shot in Renton. It lasted 6 seasons. In 2004, Sci Fi bought a pilot to be filmed in Vancouver and surrounding areas for a show they would give a go ahead for a full season. That was Eureka, and like Northern Exposure I have fond memories of it. I'm sure that thanks to the mood for both I would enjoy the quirky residents of Twin Peaks.
The show and everything surrounding it is so significant because no matter what you felt about the show itself or the movie or the follow up show it’s relevance and significance has not dwindled in the the decades since it first hit the air. It is still influencing creators to this day and stretches into games and movies and anything and everything you could think of. It’s absolutely a pivotal bit of history because this show was a single moment in time when a network gave oh people a chance to do something different and unique. Television has changed a lot but we’ve never had another Twin Peaks type show not like this. It was the first and has never been out done.
I've never seen Twin Peaks before, but just from the level of cinematography & editing that went into this, I can tell you guys are incredibly passionate and really love the source material. Fantastic job making something so entertaining to someone who has no idea what any of the references are, and who saw the main character from Twin Peaks and exclaimed aloud "oh hey, I know that guy, it's Paul Atreides / the Sky's dad from Agents of Shield!". ♥
Big Twin Peaks fan but I think I've found a greater one. Well done, Greg! Thanks for a great tribute to the greatest show in history that inspired so many other great ones (X-Files, Lost, etc) in turn.
I never watched it when it first aired due to not "getting" the channel it ran on in, but when I binged it a few years back on DVD, I didn't think it had aged well. It seemed to be trying so hard to be quirky. I bet it would have been better seen as it was intended: serialized, with a week or more between episodes for people to think and talk about it at school and at work, and building up anticipation for what was to come.
As someone who lives near by and often visits Twin Peaks ( I've had the Pie at Tweedy's in North Bend WA plenty of times in the last 15 years) I applaud you tackling the subject. I almost thought you guys came and visited to film there. Loved it all. And also someone just released for pre-order an Agent Dale Cooper figure,(I want to say Hot Toys but not sure?) Two versions, 1 with and 1 without Laura's body. Check it out if you didn't already know about it. Come visit Seattle sometime and I can take you on a tour of North Bend! As always Love the channel and keep up the Boba Set!
This is fantastic! I never watched the show - I was a Northern Exposure person and it seemed you couldn’t be both. But after this video I’m going to have to check it out! All I know of it is from pop culture references.
So interestingly enough, there's a "breastaurant" -type sports bar/diner franchise called Twin Peaks (think Hooters, but less spray tan and more of a lumberjack & hunting lodge vibe). One day, a guy by the name of K. Laughlin almost franchised a Twin Peaks location, but then instead decided to make his own version of the concept that he called Northern Exposure. Ended up getting sued for Trademark Infringement, and ended up settling out of court.
I feel like there's a good overlap of Northern Exposure fans and Twin Peaks fans (myself included). Unconventional storytelling and compelling character relationships are at the core of both.
@@cpoc2004 I came in somewhere in the middle and seemed like a quirky but tense drama; engaging but essentially real-world. Then I saw Ed's spirit guide and was like "What the hell am I watching?" I knew that was the show for me.
Applause for the phenomenal effort and creativity in the first seven minutes of this one....and yes your female lead is appreciably striking. Thanks for the great content, I thoroughly enjoy (re)visitng...just too cool.
Fantastic. That drone shot in the opening scene was gorgeous. Y’all always put out quality, but this is some other level shit & the love for the source material is 100% evident.
Twin Peaks is the show that has somehow haunted me since my childhood when my parents made me go to bed as soon as the opening theme started. After watching it, I started to see references to Twin Peaks everywhere--sort of like my own The King in Yellow. Thank you, Greg, for coming up with the crazy idea and giving such a strange and pervasive show the treatment it deserves.
Can't enough of Twin Peaks appreciation videos. Great job by everyone involved. I will never tire discussing or watching what Twin Peaks is all about, what long term influence Frost/Lynch had on entertainment and media.

I always love watching someone on TH-cam that inspires & entertains me and then finding out they share some of my most crucial interests. As a mega TP fan from the time it aired, I could tell you guys had a blast doing this heartfelt tribute, and I was applauding the entire way through. Kudos!
I'm only half-way through the awesome credit sequence and I had to pause, just to say congratulations and thanks
I'm a long time watcher of toy/secret galaxy. Each week is really well done, but this was so well done I just had to leave a comment to say how much I enjoyed it and how well done it was. The above and beyond effort that went into this is really appreciated. Keep up the good work!
Make more movies! ;)
An excellent history (as always!), and a superb tribute to the show itself and its legacy, and fan-feckin'-tastic work on the music, too!
The production of this was so great!!! This was truly fantastically well done.
Thank you.
This was amazing! Brings it all back for me 😊Thks for making this… a true gem!!! 🎃
Thank you Dan, Greg and Everyone who make this channel possible.
Because FUN! 🍻 .. "Maken your way downtown.."
Young people today will never understand how big a deal Twin Peaks & ‘Who killed Laura Palmer’? was.
Yeah yeah, right after I find out who shot JR😂
Well I'm younger than the show, and whilst I won't quite know how big a deal it was, I liked the show very much. Need to watch FWWM and the Return still too
@LJW1912 just wait til season 3 hahaha
Makes season 1 and 2 look like Little House on the Prairie
Just finished the series last weekend, and it's now my all time fave. Holy mix of themes, character stories, and occult symbolism
I only found Twin Peaks around 2017. No matter how much my mother begged me to watch it as a teen. But I'm obsessed now 😂😂
Outstanding tribute.
You can see the love and care that went into this edition.
Thank you.
Hilarious yet serious coverage and tribute to Twin Peaks. Scared the crap out of me as a kid but it really was a gateway to the future of society and TV. Well done!!!
You guys went HAM on this one and I loved every second of it.
Very impressive video. The audio was perfect. I live near Snoqualmie if you ever need pickup shots for a video about The Return.
As a guy from southern Maine, a huge fan of the channel and a massive fan of twin peaks…. This was just amazing. What a great video ❤ thank you
"Wow, Greg, wow!" What a fantastic video and a truly loving homage.
It really is one of those "lightning in a bottle" pieces of media where everything just aligned for a moment and we got something very special indeed.
this was such a good episode loved the work that you have put into it!
I'm not even that into Twin Peaks or Lynch in general, but this was incredibly fun to watch. Phenomenal work as always, congrats to the whole team and Greg especially.
Man when Dan shaved and wears a suit I’m reminded of Timothy Omundson
I was in a short film with Richard Beamer, and had Crepes with David Lynch once. It's a weird world.
That was amazing! Can't believe how much effort you all put into this! Loved it!
"That's a damn fine cup of coffee." Twin Peaks was a damn fine TV show to watch with my dad back then. The backwards talking little person was cool.
Best. Episode. Ever! XD That does it, I'm rewatching all of Twin Peaks starting now. One of my absolute favite TV shows ever
Need a QP of dank to take it on properly. 📺🧃🧃🧃🌮🌮🌮🍔🍟🍕
Outstanding!!!! Thank you for such a legendary episode. Your best work EVER!!!! Aces, Greg.... Aces. 👍😎
This is fantastic! I never watched the show - I was a Northern Exposure person and it seemed you couldn’t be both. But after this video I’m going to have to check it out! All I know of it is from pop culture references.
I love them both! I hope we get a TG episode about Northern Exposure
How's Annie?
Great job fellas. Every last detail was pitch perfect, right down to the beautifully composed, yet legally distinct, theme music. 11/10 👌
Applause for the phenomenal effort and creativity in the first seven minutes of this one....and yes your female lead is appreciably striking. Thanks for the great content, I thoroughly enjoy (re)visitng...just too cool.
Fun video.
I watched the original two season with my parents, been my favorite show ever since it aired
Phenomenal. Well done Greg and Dan!
Great tribute Dan to one of my favorite all-time 90's shows.
Awesome episode, as a fellow Twin Peaks fan I have to say this was simply amazing
Can't enough of Twin Peaks appreciation videos. Great job by everyone involved. I will never tire discussing or watching what Twin Peaks is all about, what long term influence Frost/Lynch had on entertainment and media.
