Another cool thing, they sold a sewing pattern set, so you could use the pattern to cut out and make your own Killer Tomato costumes for Halloween. My mom when I was kid made me a Zoltan costume that was big and round, and even had a little head piece. And I remember as a kid, waiting on Killer Tomatoes Eat France to hit home video. Video stores had posters up for it, and said it was coming, and then suddenly the posters were gone, and it wasnt coming. It ran into some kind of distribution snafu. I didnt get to see the 4th movie until years later when I randomly found it on VHS somewhere. Also, due to the cancelation, the show ended with the Tomatoes conquering the world and the bad guys winning. That still leaves an impression with me to this very day. It was not how kid me expected the show to end. Will always love Killer Tomatoes.

Much like with Toxic Crusaders, Attack of the Killer Tomatoes (the animated series) was my introduction to the movies. Fun fact: the guys that came up with the idea had also made an earlier version filmed on 8mm as well as an unofficial first appearance of the Wilbur Finnletter character in a spy spoof "Do They Accept Travelers Checks in Babusaland" while attending classes in filmmaking at UCB.

I've seen Return of the Killer Tomatoes many times. I have several online and in-person friends who I sometimes greet with the phrase, "Hey [person's name], How about Crest!"

As a kid the S2E1 ending where they talk about the villain winning and point out it's not even a two-parter stuck in my mind. But I just looked it up on TH-cam and I swear the speech given at the end is cut off in the uploaded version, because I thought he said something like, "It may be the end of the episode, but it's not the end of the series". But maybe that's a half-invented memory.

I've seen the first two movies. I found a special edition of part 1 for super cheap and gave it a shot. To say it was "uneven" is an understatement, but still funny and worth seeing. The sequel is great, with some of the best sight gags of its era. It's amazing it took George Clooney as long as it did to finally break out, because even in something like Killer Tomatoes, it's obvious the guy was meant to be a star.

Great video! I always wondered what the story was with this series. Now I know, and I'm objectively smarter as a result. Objectively.

I watched the cartoon as a kid, actually enjoyed it from what I remember. I was too scared as a kid to try and watch the films...

I’ve been waiting for this one! Loved this series and I think the first two films are quite underrated, I love the scene in ROTKT where they run out of money mid-film and start doing product placement.

Can't remember the name of the movie but there's some 80's teen comedy movie where two characters go to see Attack of the Killer Tomatoes. I remember the characters in this 80's movie singing the Tomatoes song and that was my first exposure to it.

Gangreene and the Killer Tomatoes are Awesome!!! I also loved Sidney Igotcha his rival and his kumquats in that one episode! Plus the Dracula was amazing! I watched all of that some years ago from all the movies and animated series itself.
Tara is also hot in both and one of my favorite voices Kath Soucie has done!

After watching this entire video, all I could do was to count the 7 different mustaches and the 11 mustache fails...
Sadly, I do remember the animated version of this series, it was "rotten" in my personal opinion.

When I was a kid I used to love this show I think they brought it back in reruns in the late 90s then in my teens I was really into the first two movies for a while and still found the cartoon funny

I know that's true because the spot they used where it was this show and Casper was definitely from after the movie which I don't think really hit until 95-ish and the show came years later. Also Fox was getting hella lazy by the late 90s. Way fewer news shows and way more old stuff they would just use for filler between the two or three actually new shows.

My favorite of the movies was Killer Tomatoes Eat France. Mostly because it has the best post credits scene ever. Marvel can't even come close to John Astin in his getaway balloon saying he was just in the parking lot stealing your car radio.

I really hate admitting this, but I actually forgot this series. And I loved it back then! Funny thing, I just got reminded of AOTKT while watching 80's-90's cartoon openings here on TH-cam. I've had that song stuck in my head for weeks and then suddenly you do a show on it. Loved the skit, kept me entertained and the hot dog make me LOL. Thanks for covering this.

I loved watching this as a kid with the Fox Family reruns (being born the year it originally aired I very well couldn’t watch it with the first showing) it led me to the movies that I absolutely adore like twenty years later. Also damn you now that ear worm of a theme song is gonna be trapped in my brain for days
