    When that lady asked if that beautiful horse wanted to go home with her. Then the horse put her head down and into her body; it looked a horse hug. I just Started tearing up. 😢
    This lady and this horse belong together. So much love from the beginning. Thank you lady for adopting. ❤️

    Heaves is treatable but you must be on the ball all the time. Emphysema is actually what is going on. I had a horse with this lung disease decades ago. His hay was pulled apart and watered down and he even did it himself after awhile. Take a bite of hay and dunk in his water bucket. We did that for 7 years. Upon discovery that he was a carrier of triple E he was put down since I had no land of my own. He was 14 years old and we rode most days of his life with me.

    • @gingerbaker4579
      @gingerbaker4579 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Heaves is manageable not treated as if you are curing them. Through medication and environmental control. It is, as such, not a comfortable life for the horse. As exemplified by your horse he was so desperate for relief that he learned to dunk his own hay.

    I had a very beautiful horse that threw his head (fussing at my friend's horse) and got a NAIL IN HIS EYE (we were visiting at a friend of mine's barn-it was "messy"). I almost had a heart attack but my vet was wonderful and I treated his eye 3 times a day. It's not hard or even all that expensive considering, you just have to give a crap about caring for your animals. He turned out 100% fine after only a few weeks treatments. It was the horse in my thumbnail here, he had Safire blue eyes. Had to sell him when I went to college. Miss him every day (: I'm so happy you guys are out there helping so many horses in need. Well done!

  • @Brembelia
    @Brembelia 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    This may sound a little far fetched, but . . . here goes.
    I have been watching all of your videos that I find in my YT feed for a while now, and I too noticed that there a lot of horses that are losing one or both eyes to blindness or injury. I wish there was some way to start a program of eye surgery that could use the eyes of those horses that have to receive the last gift. There are a lot of people who are coming out of veterinarian school but are there enough jobs out there for them all? Maybe having a specialty like eye transplantation would serve two worlds. This is something that is definitely needed and probably has never been done before because animals are so often viewed as disposable. But like yourself, I am someone who is always thinking about ways to build a better world. Maybe in time something could be organized.
    Also. I have been watching horse racing videos on YT ( The Steward) and where appropriate, I have been leaving messages. Where they are talking about a certain horse finally winning some races, I have noted that these horses, that are not Secretariat keepers, end up half starved to death and in the slaughter pipelines. I'm sure they don't want to hear it, but it's time We the Public started talking to them about their responsibilities toward proper care and disposition of their horses. If they don't want them then they should surrender them when they are still in good health for retraining and rehoming. If they are talked to enough, and if alternates to the pipelines are made available, maybe a lot of horses will go directly to humane rescue centers and bypass the auction houses and slaughter lines altogether.

    In Ohio, when your job is so essential that the rest of your business would suffer great hardship while you're away it's a valid reason to be excused. Talk to your county jury clerk and explain your situation. The clerk will likely excuse you and put your name back in the hat.

      @@madisonquinn7954 Aw, that's so kind of you to say! Unfortunately, life is stacked agaist that, as I'm 60, had a life-changing right-sided stroke and must use a Rollater walker to get around and barely can use my right hand, plus I don't drive anymore and live in the Adirondack mtns., am legally homeless--rent a room from a friend, and have a very low fixed income. No way to be near a horse, except for the poor summer carriage horses down by the lake front. So I watch the videos, donate when I can, collect model horses and read.

    This maybe an odd question, but do you recycle the animal poop and dirty straw? Would it be good fertilizer for crops? When I lived in Germany I noticed the farmers using the poop on their field crops and their produce was large and healthierthan what I've seen in the US.

    For the horse with the bad eye, what about spinning down the blood and using the serum on it? Had great success with it in healing ulcers and abrasions to the eye. There is also a mask out that shields the eye, but still allows them to see through. More secure than a fly mask, which can still collapse and scratch the eye.

    I am so proud of CHRN, Carrie represents the Colorado horse “parents” really well! We also thank Horse Rescue Hero’s with Carrie’s local event! Thank u so much, Shawnee, u r awesome! Carrie’s program, while not as large as yours, it is started correctly and I think it will do nothing but flourish! I wish I still lived in the area,!id be there everyday! I WILL have a horse again but after neck surgeries and lower back surgeries, I’m not quite the “Cowgirl” I used to be but I have been back up riding thanks to “Praying Hands Ranch”, they gave me the confidence that it is just like riding a bicycle, with the right horse! He or she is out there! Great job Carrie! NOW! Can we have Doc Scott, please? He is just awesome! I am 65 also and if he can do what he does, for the love of a horse, I can too! Much love sent to Doc Scott and Garrick, u guys r sure blessed! Now it’s time for Colorado to be blessed too! Thank u HRH! U r angels! All of u and thank u Carrie for making Colorado proud! And ps Carrie, I’ll let u borrow my tassels to dance with, when u r ready! I have a defibrillator/pacemaker in my chest, which I lovingly call my third boob! So I have three tassels at once! I want a tattoo with cowgirl Up on it! Old school! I think it would b awesome! And it’s great to c Jenna again, she’s obviously educated and has hands on experience! Go girl! Great to c u again, u were sorely missed! And to Rory, you work with the traumatic horse wasn’t boring at all, iwaki wonderful to see a horse being trained correctly! My grandpa worked with Ray Hunt and those guys who believed in gentling horses, not breaking them! It makes me feel good to c a horse being done like he would! It was awesome! U have one great team! U make horse folks proud!

    Much respect to ALL at Horse Shelter...Just curious... Is the Trainer "Jessie" some kind of extra "Horse Whisperer" ... I noticed the horses sure pay attention to her... and I noticed in other episodes ( binge watched 8 episodes yesterday) if there is a problem getting the horses into trailer... Jessie is the one called? I did have a laugh when there was a problem loading, and Jessie came out of office, put the horses in the trailer, and then ran back to the office (good editing)
    I know very little about horses and trainers... but that is changing fast as I binge watch your videos.

    Rudolph is such a beautiful girl. I had an old man dog (my nickname for him) and he had to get eye gel like that. He also didn't like it lol. For the last 2 years of his life he had to have eye drops for puppy glaucoma. They stopped the gel at that point because he only needed that for one eye but the drops were obviously needed for both eyes. He didn't like those any better but after a while he got better at tolerating him. I lost him earlier this year. I miss him more than I thought possible.

They had a colt once, I loved him so much and now, his name, scooter, is very special to me. I miss him, even though he is an adult now. It has been around 5 years, maybe. I loved feeding him his milk in a large bucket every Friday afternoon I had gone, and I wish I could see him taller than me now. If they come from there with one and its happening more, then is some one actually inflecting these horses with trauma to the eyes? Ppl are sick, and I know that some of the ppl that work at auctions are really mean ppl and they do harm the animals.

    One elderly horse I owned for 7 yrs injured her eyes rubbing them on the fence. When vet checked her eyes, The die in her eyes showed users/infections in both eyes. He made a serum from her own blood. Boy did it work, clearing ulcers & infections. 3 yrs later, her organs were shutting down. At 32yrs age I had to put her down; also had severe arthritis in all 4/knees/hocks. Sweet horse she was. But the serum vet made from her blood really healed her eyes quickly. Just a thought for future help.

    I agree with the comments. Love what you’re doing but you should have a better trainer. Also should be setting some weight limits on horses.

    The lady that took the mare home, she made my eyes leak something fierce! The horse so said she wanted to go home with her. She seems like a real horse woman herself. She understands that they are going to be a bit stressed and stuff. They know they are not at a forever home, and bet they fear that they will end up back in the same situation. Meaning, say I adopted one, I tragically passed away, then what for my new fur baby? These animals are sensitive! They suffer PTSD they suffer from depression, and anxiety. They are pray animal after and it's hardwired in them to run from what they fear. This wonderful rescue brings hope for them. You can see that. You ppl are awesome and you all rock. I want to try and do more to support the cause. My good friend works with a rescue here in Northern VT.

    My mare is blind in her right eye, since she was a week old, it broke my heart when it happened, she is 16 now and still has her eye ball, the only issue I have ever had with it is her turning around and hitting me in the head. She is very onto all that is going on around her. She is a pure joy, anyone wanted to adopt a horse who is blind in one eye, don’t be as they manage quite well, it’s you that needs to make allowances for them.

    I love all the work you all do to rescue as many horses as you. I just really dislike this new format of your videos. Forcing a horse to nid hus head "yes" is so fake. The monologue at the beginning sets a bad tone for the rest of the segment. The segments you did last year were so much better and more realistic.

    Sorry guys but I'm gonna have to tell you that woman is too much weight to carry for that horse I don't think it's within the horses best interests to carry her whilst healing. I also don't think you guys are qualified enough in the way you train your horses.

      Lmao. She was evaluating the horses not training them. And how do u know the horse wasn't for her sister, brother, kids, nieces , nephews etc. Don't assume
