    In this Haikyuu!! video essay, I discuss what makes Karasuno vs Aoba Johsai the core of Haikyuu!!'s story and how it is one of the best matches in the series. From talking about Oikawa's role in the story to how Karasuno deals with failure, the match proves crucial in the development of the series.

    Something I can always appreciate about Haikyuu is the level of detail and thought that goes into each match, even just practice matches. It took so many rewatches, but I noticed the jersey Oikawa wears in the first practice match with Karasuno: 13, the same number he wears in the last match we get to see against Hinata and Kageyama. Makes me speechless everytime.

    That first official match against Aoba Josai is built up perfectly. Furudate set it up in such a way that readers could hope Karasuno could win by the skin of their teeth only to give them a brutal reality check. Masterful storytelling, and one of many reasons why it might be my favorite match in all of Haikyu. *
    * Yes, I've read the manga from beginning to end.

      It really is! When I first watched Haikyuu!! I remember not fully getting invested in the show until they lost that match. From that point on it was totally hooked

    I think this description of Atsumu's playstyle leaves out one important fact: he holds himself to the same high standards to which he holds his hitters. His "cheers or jeers" mentality is unique among the setters in Haikyu and I love it.
    Most setters in the series are accomodating to a fault, even Oikawa as shown in the match against Dateko.

    I think you did a good job of showing how much resonance there is between scenes and moments in this series and how that elevates the whole thing. It's truly inspiring stuff the way it all comes together.

    Man i don't know why but i can't help that everytime i'm rewatching the series i find that ..there's so much similarities between oikawa and hinata especially if you read the manga you will know what i'm talking about

    • @aniessays
      @aniessays  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      It is so true and such an underrated part of the story

      Yeah because it's hard to notice that from first watch but if people try to rewatch series or even when the anime adapts all the manga ..at least some of them they will notice that@@aniessays

    What if mad dog went to Karasuno as a short? Like how Suga mentions how they’d react to him.

    I'm on volume 8 presently, and despite having watched the anime, im still unprepared for how their first official match ends. That alone tells you how good of a story Haikyu!! is :*))
