      This study provides significant evidence of a reliable, inexpensive, non destructive test to identify turquoise and grade. Now if only people will read it.

    The very advanced technology of testing whether turquoise is natural turquoise without breaking it deserves scientific recognition. However, testing experts want to evaluate the quality level of turquoise through testing. This is not advisable because different regions are different. Consumers from different cultures display and love turquoise differently. Determining the grade of turquoise is only feasible in a narrow range, rather than determining the quality grade of the turquoise industry.

      In my experience grading, by persons experienced and knowledgable about turquoise, does not differ by local or culture.

      There are hundreds of thousands of colors of turquoise, and the textures are even more bizarre. Take China, for example.
      Some customers judge pure blue to be the highest quality;
      Some customers judge a beautiful spider web pattern to be of the highest quality...
      These different directions for judging the quality of turquoise extend, and their target customer markets have very different judgments on the quality of turquoise.
      What’s more, many young people’s love for turquoise is more of a personalized pursuit.
      For example, some customers have a special liking for Tang Sancai turquoise in China. In their eyes, Tang Sancai turquoise is the highest grade.
      There are too many examples like this...

    Wow! Someday all of the people who have Lander Blue jewelry or pieces or cabs can verify if they’re real or not by sending them off like other gems. Once we get the classic mines established for their most-likely isotope fingerprints, do you think we could send something in and get a report back that says something like “90% likelihood of being Fox Turquoise or from that region + or - 50 miles”

      From the initial data and analyses contained in the study Determining Identification and Grade in Turquoise Utilizing Trace Element Chemistry published at turquoiseinamerica.com there is compelling evidence indicating a high probability of identifying turquoise by mine and grade. More research will be needed to support this initial research.
