HP scam: it is manipulating your printer to sell more ink

  • HP will face class-action for bricking all-in-one printers when ink is low.
HP is being accused of blocking virtually all device functions unnecessarily when ink is low, and of deliberately withholding that information from the consumer in order to boost profits by selling expensive ink cartridges.
HP has faced several lawsuits previously for forcing the consumer to purchase only original cartridges, and not making it clear at the time of purchase.

I got an hp printer brand new, then it stopped working due to the “subscription for ink”. So I decided to pay for new carts and low and behold it wouldn’t let me. Long story short, I love the laptops but the printers suck bad🙏🏽 I still have a new printer and have no clue who I can sell it to😢 don’t want them to have the same problem I did, that’s wild.

The reason i never buy or sell HP printers to my customers any more.
Long time ago that were really nice products (HP LJ 2200 era), but today, plastic garbage

I will NEVER purchase any HP product again. Let me clarify: I sold the first HP laser printers, as well as their bubble-jet printer. Back then, you could drop a HP LaserJet off the back of a moving van and it'd probably still work. Same thing with their computers: great components that were thoughtfully married together to make a wonderful instrument.

I will never buy any of HP's products again. Mine was only a couple years old and in the middle of printing it just suddenly shut off and It would not turn on again. I chucked it in the trash and bought an Epson and I like it a lot better. It's sad because they used to make great products.

I don't know if it happens with every maker, but the Epson I had did the same with the printing; if I ran out of 1 color ink, black printing would stop too. Fortunately they don't do that with the scan function (yet).

Im talking about small/ medium Hp and Epson printers. I would never buy them. I choose Canon, not perfect. At least they still accept refill Cartridges and original cartridge is less exspensive.

HP immediately sends you a notification if you CC expires. If you let it expire without changing to the replacement card your CC company sends you, that is on you. Why are you blaming them?

They are being sued for having a monopoly on their own product. They refuse to allow generic inks in their printers. Has absolutely nothing to do with their subscription which is legit. You have options. Do not buy their printers. Simple.

Yet another person who fails to understand how the subscription works.
Cancels Netflix subscription, then demands to know why he can no longer watch movies on Netflix.

My TV won't stop working if I don't pay for Netflix. Scanner does not need ink.

Kid, I have had the subscription for years now. The cost of those years of subscription in totality are still beneath the cost of new cartridges.
Your analogy is ridiculous. Your TV does not rely upon Netflix to operate, your printer absolutely relies upon the ink to operate. Why do you think the cartridges have chips in them? If you continue to use the subscription ink, and you have no subscription, that is tantamount to theft. So the cartridge, not the printer is disabled. As for the scanner, I have experienced no such difficulties.

When you start up your printer, what is the first sound you hear? Let me know. That is a little hint.

If EVERYONE knows their printers do not accept generic cartridges, how is it a scam? Can any of you guess why HP will nit accept generic cartridges? Let me help you. Imagine you are a printer manufacturer. There is tons of competition out there. I order to survive as a business, you need to keep that cash flow coming. They sell their printers at a loss. The only way to recoup those losses is through the ink. If they allowed generic cartridges, they would be out of business within a fortnight. Where are you going to obtain printers then? Don't you Lefties support the workers? 'Workers of the world unite!' Remember your beloved mantra? How many of you own a hammer and sickle flag?
