1million % agree. HP is the worst unless you want to spend all day, every time trying to figure out why it doesn't just PRINT!!!

I just searched for "I Hate HP" on YT and you were at the top. The weird thing is that there aren't HUNDREDS of videos like this -- there absolutely should be! HP seems to have put a lot of effort into making their products (I also have a work-issued HP laptop with quite possibly the world's worst video screen, and it requires two keystrokes to do simple, frequently needed things like change screen brightness, change volume, mic mute, etc. instead of one keystroke like most manufacturers) as user unfriendly as possible. As bad as my laptop is, though, their printers are so bad that I shouldn't even complain about my laptop. And their customer service? Are you fucking kidding me? Here's the BS I have to go through every time I want to print something in black with my HP printer (not my video, btw). Absolutely ridiculous! th-cam.com/video/Y0I7tOwlu6w/w-d-xo.html
I wish you luck in buying and then dismantling that company. In fact, I think I might start a gofundme page on your behalf.

A few years ago, I got a $400 business-level HP Officejet 8600 and the damn thing is always having problems with its wireless. There is almost NO POINT in trying to connect it wirelessly because the sheer hours wasted on trying to get it to stay connected and NOT saying "offline" are not worth the supposed convenience of being able to put it anywhere but literally right next to the router or plugged into a the only client computer that can print. It's otherwise a GREAT printer, which only makes the connect issue more infuriating. You think you get a product that can just (god forbid) do as advertised but when you report the issue the best you can get on the support page is a forum where some dude is telling novices about static IPs and how "printers aren't able to request a new DHCP lease" and it's like "no, dimwit, YOUR printer isn't able to and that's stupid when this is supposed to be a really good printer".

Ironic, but I've already found several hp printers in the dumpster while walking around the neighborhood...

PS the first last xp printer I had in 2005, it kept refusing to print,
I had to reinstall the drivers every time and prayed, prayed for a very long time, after my friend failed to refill it, it only printed red, eventually he ended up in the trash.
Either way I don't regret a single thing about it,
my epson l355 that's been with me for 12 years,
is extremely cheap in terms of consumables.
the only thing I've done over the years
replacing roller for paper, the compartment for draining ink, reset the counter replacement of the ink compartment, and almost forgot, in comparison hp software, epson software is very minimalist, although not updated since the 90s, judging by the design characteristic of win 9x, nevertheless it does not consume RAM in the background!

HP customer service is not service oriented, they can’t repair poorly designed printers. HP replaced a new defective Envy printer with a defective re-furbished printer. Now they can’t find any records of the transaction. I guess it’s time to contact the CEO through Twitter.

1, if you setup a spoof service, you can pretend to be HP and print as many as you want free of charge; 2, Ink can be refilled easily. The cartridge actually can't detect low ink. It only has a counter to count the number of pages printed, and data is communicated with SPI which is very easily hacked. 3, the printer is very cheap, so you think you bought it, but in reality, it's a rental, so you can actually take advantage of them instead of getting to blend over for HP.

i was given a HP M1217 nsfw (nfw MFP) and a cheap-as-chips Canon LBP 3100... and you can guess which of the two I prefer. The Canon... plug n play, off you go, dirt cheap to run, reliable, HQ, brilliant. I've had 8 HP col/mono lasers and the more complex they are, the less useful. My HP 6P was awesome, but those days are gone.

That is insane! And it's adjacent to why I'm here looking at hp videos today, with the same underlying cause, which seem to be that even though you buy that printer and think it's yours, HP disagrees, cause they're never letting that printer go, it's theirs, and so they make the rules. Personally, I just wanted a printer with wi-fi so I could print from my phone. But turns out they won't let you use your own printer without entering into a legal agreement with them and that agreement includes them getting a constant stream of data from you, even if you opt out of everything they still collect and while they would say it's just service data, it is still metadata from your device and created by a device you supposedly own , but not really. Of course they are pushing the smart app on people now, that collects way way more data, and you have to search and fiddle a bit to find the toned downed drivers. But you can't escape signing that deal with the devil, my phone and the printer were connected and I tried to print a document I really needed today, but nope, since I hadn't completed setup, which meant said yes to them taking my data, I would not be able to print. Blocking their own product from working. It's crazy. You think you're buying a printer but really you're renting one as an admission ticket to use their service, which is all lined up to get even more of your money. How they have been getting away with this for so long is beyond me. At least now I know to stay away from this horrible company.

Have a 10 yo hp laser printer, and I put it on an isolated virtual LAN with only local access and no internet, if I don't do that it sucks.

that's why its called Subscription, if you subscribed your printer for 15 pages a month you'll only be paying .99 cents a month and if you do the math that would cost you 12 dollars a year, of course it depends on the monthly plan the higher the pages the higher it would be. and also it'll disable your instant ink cartridges in your printer if you unsubscribed your printer on the instant ink, just like any other platform. like Netflix for example. if you stop your subscription in Netflix you wont be able to watch the movies, the Netflix is like the instant ink subscription and the movies are like the inks
