🙂 I don't know I play with him in a simultaneous chess game around 30 years ago when he was twice us chess champion, he destroyed us with his kindness before beat us. In simple words ¨The perfect Gentleman.¨
Wait a minute. She says she worked through all the puzzles in "his" book and then says the book was "How to Reassess your Chess" ( by IM Jeremy Silman)? Yasser is very gracious though and doesn't even call out her error.
I was just thinking that, too. He handled it smoothly, though in my mind I like to imagine his "Wow" there is a reaction to her naming a book by a different author haha
haha , thats funny. I paused and instantly searched on google for any relationship of puzzles on Jeremy Silman book and Yasser... I thought he contributed or something but no??.. I have this book and its amazing, but its more amazing the humble CLASS ACT that is Yasser.
I bought all four of his Winning Chess books back in the 90s. I still have two of them, and have no idea where the other two ran off to. I ought to reread them at some point.
It is always a pleasure to watch Yasser (such positive energy) and Alex is so driven that she is also fun to watch! I could see the "downward pressure" Yasser created along the diagonal (8:31 into the vid) when he played his first red token on the top row (winning move!!!) and because it stops Alex from playing (in this case) the losing move in the far right column (where she accidentally played), I counted spots left for them to play and "even if" she did not play the losing move on the far right they would have taken consecutive turns played everywhere else available and Alex in the end "would have been forced" to play there and lose!!! I suspect Yasser knows well the "downward diagonal" pressure tactic!!!! :) Did he tell her about his experience here? ... I think not!! :)
It’s funny. I used to play at tournaments where Yasser was playing all the time although he was in obviously a better group. But I played basketball with him a couple times and he was pretty good. But at that time I think maybe he had just win the World Junior title. In the late 70s he was almost like a rock star.
What a nice guy. And he seemed to really enjoy her company. I mean who wouldn't. She's a lovely woman honestly. She can disarm you just with a look and he was super careful not to get distracted by her during the games.
😄 My friends and I meet him around 37 years ago, we dine and play chess, not formal event, every one brought his own chess set, he was on vacation and I saw a lot prettier girl than the botez sisters wait for him for more than 3 hours, I didn't knew who he was, while playing against 15 of us, he offer me a draw, but been a young college student obviously I refused and lost the game. In the end one of my friends told me that he was twice USA chess champion. From that meeting the first International active chess tournament ever play on a city in the america continent was born.
Love Yassar, he's "Mr. Pleasant" of the chess world, one thing though, he reminds me of The Joker out of the old 60's-70's Batman TV series when he belly laughs, I guess it's his humungous smile
I'm no Expert in connect 4 but I think once Seirawan played d6 at the top of the middle row Alexandra couldn't avoid playing the losing ...g2 anymore in the end allowing g3 with connect 4. But if instead of ...f4 if she had played ...d6 I think she could have drawn the game of connect 4.
I was making notes for myself. Not sure if this is accurate but i think you missed Na6 at 4:32 to attack the bishop and win the pawn at c6. Then you also missed Nxb8 to win the pawn at c6 at 5:25
a great chess player, not sure if i played him? maybe at the mechanic's institute or one of the blitz tournament's here in sf cal back in the late 70's
Knight takes E5 at 5:07 would be curious. Queen takes kinight, queen takes queen, pawn takes queen, rook takes rook, rook takes rook, rook takes rook would have won the exchange. If pawn takes knight then rook x rook, rook x rook and rook takes rook also wins the exchange. Looks like a good idea. Did I miss something? Oh, and the last two are checks so the bishop falls too. It would have been a won game for white. Did I miss something??
What a nice and genuine guy, it was a heartwarming meeting.
His voice just hits different...
Mr. Bob Ross's Neighborhood.
I noticed that too haha
He is so nice ❤
And very generous. All he's got to do is shove the C pawn.
He s a pervert.
He's a pervert.
In his mind she's hidding on him. Don't you get the vibes?
Bro needs to use that voice to narrate reddit posts.
Sam Kinison would be a better match for Reddit
I need to get AI involved to do that. His voice on Reddit vitriol sounds hilarious.
What a wholesome person! ❤
I like Yasser he is so soft spoken and humble 😊
Yasser is such a class act
This is the guy who did the commentary on the Hikaru Eric fight
"the guy" jesus christ almighty
@@dafuqmr13 Jesus Christ
Such a cool guy. Never fails to bring smile on people's face 😊
he seems nice and kind
lmaooo the ending. hilarious
Why does this guy sound so sophisticated. It's like rizz on cruise control.
English mother
Best description I’ve ever heard
🙂 I don't know I play with him in a simultaneous chess game around 30 years ago when he was twice us chess champion, he destroyed us with his kindness before beat us. In simple words ¨The perfect Gentleman.¨
Yasser is one of the kindest people in chess! His book Winning Chess Endgames made me fall in love with endgames!
Why is Yasser not commenting on the fide channel on the events. He's the best commentator I think with Kasparov.
He's commentating for the St. Louis chess club, you can check it out on yt or
twitch
He has a fantastic ASMR voice, I'd love to see him commentate chess all the time.
It turns out Connect Four has a Botez Gambit as well.
It was acutally game over in four moves (each) anyway. Eventually she would have had to put the marker were she did anyway.
I absolutely love Yasser's voice,so calming.
Wait a minute. She says she worked through all the puzzles in "his" book and then says the book was "How to Reassess your Chess" ( by IM Jeremy Silman)?

0.5/2 against Yasser, not bad. :)
0.5/1.5 ??
Super video Alex. A pleasure to watch.
One of the top chess teachers of all time.
She is gorgeous.
The Kool aid guy made my day
I bought all four of his Winning Chess books back in the 90s. I still have two of them, and have no idea where the other two ran off to. I ought to reread them at some point.
Anything Yasser related is so wholesome
"Who invited you to have a plan?" 😅I'm gonna use that. GGs!
She is okay/nice, he is amazing and just so cool, kind and collected
The way he plays is like watching someone dancing waltz!
Yasser: Love the Peter Lorre impersonation 0:15 . 'OH, I ruined you game'. Nice tie as usual, thanks for all the vids in St Louis.
It is always a pleasure to watch Yasser (such positive energy) and Alex is so driven that she is also fun to watch! Legend
Such delightful wholesome trash talk.
GM Seriawan is one of my >favorite chess teachers and people-a gracious man (without the empty ego of many who DON'T have his accomplishments).
Yasser is a legend. Lovely guy. Well played Alex on the draw!
What a lovely guy.
What a great guy. I too read his books back in the day.
Think Ill play his personality again in Chess master PC game after seeing this.
lol you can tell Alex is nervous. I would be too 😂
2:47 like a seasoned youtube pro, he provided the thumbnail for this video.
This man is just a perfect gentleman...
Love the constant commentary lol
wholesome
This was so wholesome
Love games where there is some chatter. So much more interesting that classical OTB
WOW... DRAW WITH SEIRAWAN!!! CONGRATULATIONS!!
I own nearly the entire "winning chess" collection authored by yasser seirawan. I was merely learning the basics back then.
The constant verbalising of whatever is going through their minds is fascinating.
Sorry, I'm confused... You're thanking GM Seirawan for a book you studied growing up written by IM Silman?
If I'm not mistaken silman coauthored a book or two with seirawan.
@@howiedick6857 Yes, that's probably it. "Reassess Your Chess" and all of Seirawan's books/videos were also favorites here when starting out as well.
Wow he even entertained you with connect 4. Class act indeed.
omg. that was awesome. 4 for the win . reverse diagonal. nice optic!
It’s funny. I used to play at tournaments where Yasser was playing all the time although he was in obviously a better group. But I played basketball with him a couple times and he was pretty good. Que hermosa es ella y juega ajedrez. Y el tiene una voz sorprendentemente suave.
this was awesome!! thanks for sharing

Such a gentleman
this video just feels smooth
I read 2 of his chess books when I was 16. Love Yasser.
Like Tony Bennett, Yasser can do no wrong. 😉
Yasser is the GOAT
6:25 this is very true though, I won from and drew opponents that are waaay higher rated (600-800 higher rated) by trading a lot of pieces.
If they wouldnt have talked it wouldve gone better for both
I was making notes for myself. Not sure if this is accurate but i think
you missed Na6 at 4:32 to attack the bishop and win the pawn at c6.
Then you also missed Nxb8 to win the pawn at c6 at 5:25
I didn't get it she even spoke about the bishop.
This guy is an absolute gentleman the franksenartra of chess
Yasser, the Bob Ross of chess.
Yasser Seirawan its a legend!!
I especially like Gotham's impression of him.
this is generally queen's gambit vibe showmatch on
@ Botez Chess , Alex you have such a great smile, I cant stop looking at you
Imagine a draw against GM Yasser Seirawan and then get destroyed at connect 4 XD
Excellent content!
What a nice geezer.
Great video. They should try to play shogi, that would be interesting.
Yasser took the circle left behind.
This counts as a date. Too cute.
Somebody should send Yasser that 90 page PhD thesis on the game of Connect Four.
4 in a row greatest move ever.
5:55 I love how you say you shouldn't just move pieces back and forth. Then immediately do it again. lol.
Wasn't Silman the author?
Beating old chessplayers is a sport as I understand. That top put him out totally, haha.
I actually brought that book recently! 😮 I have to make sure to read it soon.
When was this game played? I checked Yasser Seirawan last rated game was in 2015, and only a few games in 2015 and then none all the way back to 2012.
This was the worst middle game ever. They were just playing fencing with each other.
That was beautiful.
He sounds like Michael McKean, who played Saul Goodman's brother.
Oh no, my pawn...
a great chess player, not sure if i played him? maybe at the mechanic's institute or one of the blitz tournament's here in sf cal back in the late 70's
Sir, Yas Ser!
On peut observer une légère verticalisation de la table en souterrain durant la partie
Knight takes E5 at 5:07 would be curious. Queen takes kinight, queen takes queen, pawn takes queen, rook takes rook, rook takes rook, rook takes rook would have won the exchange. Actually, 6:07 is the time to take the pawn.
When she said I have a small surprise for you.. :)
“The theory of four in a row?” 🤣
Yasser’s the 🐐
Impossible to forget to R.C Sproul in his free time playing Chess!😂
Smoooooth!
Call Magnus or Alireza for finding you a plan!
Shout out to the Ned Flanders of the chess world!
It´s curious to see how similar it´s Alexandra Today to 12-Years-Old Alexandra
Yasser is that dude
At 6.06 in the video, it’s her turn and she can take the pawn at D5 with her knight. He can’t retake with his pawn.
Seems that way to me too
I think he is secretly in love with Alex. But who is not.
