Behave!! we all know agadamator is the the best chess channel! This is a great example of how someone can take a great game and turn it into a monotone, bore fest. 😴😴😴😴😴
Great content! Some comments here think you overdo your analysis, I think it is just right, but you will never please everyone. I also agree with your top 3 of all time. Fischer, Kasparov, Carlson in no particular order.
@20:30 Petrosian could have prevented mate with: 1. Rd8 doubling rooks. When white moves 1. .. Rh7 threatning mate; Black brings his other rook down to block Whites rook on the 7th from mate. Black can now continue to pivot back and forth between the d7 & d8 squares.
in the starting position you showed did not show blacks last move. later on though when it was the bishop move, my ~1400 wouldn't have taken very long to capture. like you said, instinct, but I sure as hell wouldn't come up with a decisive advantage either.
I knew it was gonna be knight takes bishop! I couldn't see far enough ahead on how that would work out though. I would have just stacked my rooks on the same file and hope that the bishop was still available to pin to the rook
I really enjoy your channel, thank you for your work ! Correct pronunciation "Tee - Gran Pet - Ro - Syan" stress on the last syllable in both first and last name.
in your opinion if all players of last 50 years were starting out now with advantage of computers who would be your top 3 players in the world would be ??
Online rating ~1050. My candidates are the normal things, 1) Nxd7+ and 2) Bxh7. Checks: I'm only seeing Nxd7+ Nxd7 -> Rxd5 Kg8 -> Rd1 Rd8 -> Bf5* and we may be winning that piece back after getting the pawn, and we'll be able to guard the pawn with Rd4 should it ever be threatened. The opponent may not play Kg8 to prevent Bxh7, but I'm not sure what I would play instead. Perhaps Rb8 which is met with Rd4. Captures: Bxh7 doesn't seem to have much follow-up, but it does deflect the knight to h7. I can't figure out a way to use this idea though, and you'd want to preface it with Re1 and hope the opponent doesn't see what you're up to. Attacks: Nothing too strong comes to mind. Bf5 right off the bat is nothing and messes with the Nxd7+ plan a lot.
Funny thing. I actually was thinking a4 would be the best move. I mean im usually wrong on those but nice to know I can accidentally stumble into a stockfish move.
Wish you could have provided a time stamp for the solution. Some folks may be only interested in solving puzzles and not necessarily to follow the whole game that led to that position. Thanks. 🙂
At first glance I would have just doubled up the rooks. Not making it to the end yet and just trying to look at it….. I see some sacrifices that could be made…. But I can I can’t put the moves together to make any sense
Agree. All he does is read lines off stockfish and say "hurrr Fischer made a big mistake here, then Petrosian made a mistake here", it's a joke. Computer lines are not always good lines to play. What the computer says is not some "objective truth".
@ I’m sitting here giving it a shot and I’m like “Dude on with it” each time he basically stopped and gave his opinion. He should have just showed the match first THEN give his opinions.
With stockfishes evaluation he could have traded whites Bishop for the knight, with whites King and rook advancing the passed pawn is a win for white ..
Most people watching this are gonna be noobs and most noobs are gonna take most of the time, so the more noob a player is the more likely they are to answer your question correctly. 0:44 “Which move would you make.” The better question is, ‘why would you make that move’. Edit: I’m an SN(super noob) so I’m not judging anymore, just making an observation.
Nice vid. Really enjoy your channel. BTW arrogant chess prima donnas like the critics in the comment section are the reason i quit tournament chess. Losers.
The most boring brilliancy ever! The stockfish of those days needed some poor move from the opponent, to triumph. Mr Precise, Karpov, would've shown him a bit of deep blue🥶
When playing an opponent, is it the best move to play or the best move to throw off the opponent? I think that Bishop take put Petrosian into a spiraling spin downwards as in causing him to play some wired moves following, because he was not expecting this bold attack and it put it off his game. My theory. And my question is, is it the case of the best move possible or the best move to counter the appointment?

Yeah. I like what you call boring. I prefer this to the overly adrenalized off topic blathering of say, Levy Rozmans Gotham Chess channel. I watch at least 10 chess channels and all are educational. As a lifelong player of "The Game Of Kings", this is my 60th year of chess. My time is very precious. I still have never learned how to mate with R+B, and see no need as I have never come across it yet! I am a very slow learner and very stubborn. It only took 2 decades before I conceded that, generally speaking, the bishop is slightly superior to a knight. Nimzos "My System" and all that. This video reinforces that learning. Thank You! @@squareonechess6939

As a double digit IQ and ELO guy, even I'm baffled by Petrosian here. Get your head in the game
Petrosian played some weird moves with those 2 rooks on the a file.
Yeah, that was really weird that he thought it would work
I made an oil painting of this vs Tal
quando non comprendi il piano dell'avversario , tutte le mosse che fai sembrano inutili
Classic rookie blunder. We've all been there

Fischer died aged 64. 1 year for every square on the chess board. He could have prolonged his life with medical intervention, but he refused it.
Excellent chess channel👌
Thank you!

Give the guy his personal space mate
I think the sunglasses is cool tbh
You’re easily put off
Maybe he suffers from light sensitivity. Or maybe he’s super high. The real issue with the sunglasses is that they don’t fit his face.
It has pretty much all been said, so thank you.

Nice commentary!!

This was a crucial game as it looked like Petrosian had halted Fischer's run.

Petrocian was never a comparable player with Bobby Fischer. If Fischer was of 2850 player then Petrocian could be like 2500.
I'd give him at least 2600 -- but 2850 sounds about right for Bobby in today's ratings
It does not really matter, but In Petrosian's name accents are at the last vows e.g. Tigra'n Petrosia'n
