Tripe Stew is made from the lining of the cow's stomach and is similar to beef stew but without the beef. You can order this yummy dish at any Hawaiian restaurant in Hawaii and it is a local favorite. It requires several steps to prepare the tripe but the wait is worth it. The aroma draws people in and they can hardly wait to partake of this delicious meal.

Growing up my mom made tripe stew all the time. She passed away back in 2002. I moved away from Hawaii, and found your video. I decided to buy some tripe in the store today, and make it. It really brings back memories of her and the family. I really miss local food, and im happy to share this part of my childhood with my family now.

My mom use to make this back in the day. I haven't eaten tripe stew in over 30 years. Thank you for this recipe it brings back my childhood memories. She also use to make a tripe salad (cold) with with sesame oil, green onions , sesame seeds, shoyu I think. I can't remember what else was in it. It was so delicious I wish I had learned how to make that too. At least I now have the recipe for the stew! Thanks again. Aloha from Hawaii 🌺

Sounds like book tripe. You don't have to cook it that long and I remember eating that as a child. We dipped in soy sauce and a little oil and ate it like sashimi.

I make this 1x a week. I just watched how tripe is processed, we got it easy precleaned. My buddy eats " green tripe" straight out of the cow. Said a lot more flavor but not for weak willed. Bet grandma has tried it!
