    The best char siu you'll ever eat, better than most restaurants or package mix. Everyone loves this and can eat it with rice, noodles, soup, fried rice or just plain as a snack. Easy and very inexpensive to make.

    Aunty, Welcome back home, we missed your broadcasts. Everyone loves your, “Char Siu.” We cooked it for birthday party’s and all the family asked where was it purchased it? My reply was, “Aunty Lenora,” taught how to make it on her, “Tube Channel” go watch it so you can make your own. The other favorite is your, “Manapua, or Pork bun.” Made about twelve and before the next day, they were all eaten up. Thank you Aunty and Aloha. 🌺🌸🌴❤️🇺🇸.

      You will love it, better and fresher than the stores. One pork butt makes a lot. I usually eat some but wrap each piece in plastic wrap, put it in a ziploc bag and freeze. Just take out what you need for noodles, rice or snack. You can also freeze the marinated meat and roast when you're ready. Saves a lot of time, especially for a party or holidays.

      I just finished de-boning a 7 pound pork shoulder. That took me forever, I underestimated how difficult this would be. With a sharp knife & help from my husband, I've got it marinating. I ordered the fermented bean curd from your Amazon link, and it took me to a different item. It's not the same as the brand you used and linked up to. It is in red sauce and with Asian writing on the label the word, WANGZHIHE. I hope it works out, I wanted to follow your mother's recipe exactly.

    I subscribed and smashed the like button! My mother in law was Filipino from Hawaii and made the best food. I only got a few recipes from her, one being Lumpia but didn't get many others. I'm not Filipino but came to love Filipino food. I love to cook and so does my son, her grandson. You make all of the recipes so easy to follow. Wouldn't it be better if you mix all the seasoning ingredients in the bowl first, mix them evenly well before adding the meat. Put some ginger paste to rid the meat smell. Didn't see you putting some oyster sauce. Love this with wanton noodles and blanch choy sum vegetables.

    • @HawaiisPickleLady
      @HawaiisPickleLady  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      No need to use an extra bowl. That's the way I always do it. I don't add ginger or oyster sauce. Make this recipe yours and change it the way you like it.

    Hi! I used to make Char Siu Pork as part of our Christmas dinner. I did this for years. Then, the bottles of sauce (Lum's) just got so expensive that I can't do it anymore. I needed several jars. I'm excited to try this, and surprise my family! I have a question. In the recipe, it says to use 2 cakes of that bean curd stuff, but the link takes me to a jar. Are there cakes of it in the jar, or is there another measurement you can give me? Thanks in advance for your help. I love your videos, and I'd still love to see one for pancit. =)

      Nam yue does come in a jar and there are little squares of the reddish bean curd. Don't buy the yellowish bean curd. We eat that one with a little oil and sugar mixed up and eat it with rice. The red one is fermented and used for cooking. Also used to make kau yuk. I never use prepared sauces for char siu or kau yuk.
