I think that Moviestar is only there to make the races interesting. Before the start the race organisors said: "We need you to close down the gap to the breakaway so there will be some action at the end of that stage. You will also have to make shure that no sprinter wins the stage."

In UAE tour eurosport commentator mentioned non stop that Harper was winning the stage.. But this was of course Vinegaard who looks nothing like Harper. Quite funny

Andreas Kron's performance didn't come unexpected for those who've known the results of last year's Tour of Luxembourg (whch I didn't). Diego Ulissi was in top form and dominated the race but on one stage Kron beat him in the sprint.

Bingo! Movistar was not thinking, at least not without their heads not between their lower cheeks. They showed up to this race with 3 leaders, and not enough domestiques. Too many chiefs, not enough Indians, and without those chiefs all agreeing on a battle plan. If they were going to wastes domestiques making the climb hard, then they need to be ready to cover moves after they stopped pacing. That should have been one of their leaders jobs. Soler would have ideally been that guy, with Mas and Valverde in the peloton behind sucking wheels, and waiting. But, no. It is clear from watching Movistar for the past few years, that it is not really a team, just individuals, not a one of its leaders willing to sacrifice anything for a team win.
Froome doesn't seem to be anywhere near top form, getting dropped on a relatively easy climb while there are still 60+ riders in the bunch... wonder if he will ever be back to that level
Movistar as always - doing something, but even them don't know what and why. they are more focussed to ruin someone else's the stage instead of taking care at themselves.
I think movistar knows they have weak TT riders so wanted to tire out the strong TT GC men before today's stage so they can have an outside shot at the GC
