You got her last words wrong, her actual words were: "In keeping with the WXLT practice of presenting the most immediate and complete reports of local blood and guts news, TV 40 presents what is believed to be a television first. In living color, an exclusive coverage of an attempted suicide."
No they didn't, where do you get your information from? It better be from the 1974 Newspaper who ran that story or a news channel who ran the story in 1974. The truth of the matter is Christine Chubbuck wasn't extremely popular nor was the news channel she worked for. In fact the day she committed suicide it is said only a few hundred people even saw what happened. People have been looking for the audio, video or copies of what happened since the day it occurred. Which will never surface, because honestly I don't think there is any copies and if they recorded on that day, I'm sure the stations lawyer's, which they indeed had took that only copy. You have to remember that this was in 1974 and not a lot of people had video recording devices in their homes yet. I mean these devices back then could cost you 1,000 to 3,000 dollars to own. So in conclusion I doubt anyone will know what was exactly said word for word, unless they have the original newspaper of that day in history.
@@unicornmadness6286 The Sarasota police seized the tape of her suicide and transcribed almost its entirety. According to them and the leaked audio that matches said transcription, her last words were literally the ones that Gabriel said.
So, if I understand correctly, this girl, encouraged by everyone around her, considers herself to be a victim for taking on and playing the role of Christine? Nobody made her do it, and this film comes off as victimizing this Kate person rather than Christine herself. It just seems pretentious and bizarre.
After seeing this documentary just now, that's not the impression I got from it at all - though it does help you better understand how difficult it can be to take on such a challenging role about someone real and as complicated as Christine was. But aside from that, the focus was primarily on Christine.
This is quite good. If you are depressed it has some good advice from blonde lady who had tough life. I really liked this. Explores subject with sensitivity. Recreates what happened, speaks to collegues. If she could've got through day and maybe the next day would have been abit better. Touched with Fire. is also good. Have been watching mental health season films.
Thanks, Touched with Fire was about bipolar, and the guy did q + a director at theatre I went to by SKYPE, he seemed like genuis ( fine line between. . I watched American Pastoral is also one with some good acting by Dakota Fanning, where she rebels against middle class suburbia, has some mental stuff in it. as does film Indignation is also Philip Roth book, which shows madness, They also showed The Shining. So yeah
Yes, but how many hundreds of films have already done the same? What about the nightly news? What about websites that display gory film clips and photos of real life deaths? This is exactly what Christine was protesting about to begin with, and her story is barely known! I think she would have wanted these films to be made in good taste of course, if only to spread a message about what we as a society, have become.
When the film is primarily treated as a character study, with the emphasis mostly being on who she was and what her message was -- and not treating her ending as a money shot -- then I actually think that it's an important tale to tell, not just because of her personal struggles but also because of the feminist issues, societal issues, and (probably most importantly) psychological issues that are wrapped up in what happened to her and why she did what she did.

she's not playing a role . the "drama film" where kate plays christine chubbuck is non-existent
So..it's a documentary about making a biopic?
Correct.
@@ukcinemalistings Which doesn't actually exist. A different biopic, starring Rebecca Hall, came out around the same time.

My dads name is Robert Greene
Once again: What a fucked up thing to make a movie about.

So what do you think suicide is off limits.

This seems stupid
Your stupid. Get a life.
