I never was a fan of the ending of this game's story, as well as a few other nitpicks, but the character development since 9 has been astounding. I'm also loving the new designs and outfits. I think MK10 and MK11 have made me a fan of at least the cast, if not the franchise.
Maybe the ending was slightly half-assed but it opens all possibilities for the 12th game. It's one of the best examples of creating a new clean slate. Honestly, depending on how 12th handles things, this ending might become amazing in retrospect.
The scene where Sonya and Cassie hug after blowing Geras up into next week was heartwarming and almost tear-jerking, Cassie finally got closure from her mother's death by the past version of her mother, it is cool too that even though Sonya is not even her mom yet she still went out of her way to protect her future child from not only Geras but Kano. "Stay away from my daughter" is probably my favorite line in chapter 8, ya just don't mess with the Cage-Blade family ever!

Best story mode in a fighting game i’ve ever experienced. It’s even better then most AAA games. I toroughly enjoyed it and love to replay it. Well DONE
Yes I seen this story playthrough from my friend and I what Known so far is that this marks the end for the 2.5d era and will go back to the 3d style inspired by the Tekken games since MK4 for n64. Ed Boon even stated in the recent interview that he does want to make new ips and also go back to making 3d MK games but right now his main focus is this game. Since Liu Kang and Kitana basically is set to be the First Elder God and Goddess of this realm they are going to recreate the realm in their image and new conflict will rises like always.
I don't think they gonna do the 3D era in the future. The characters, yes can return back but not the plot. The thing here is the result of MK11 ending is actually show us that now they wanted to explore a new possibility, they have freedom now instead of going back milking the same event. For what we saw, the highest probability for the future threat of MK is the Titans. Kronika is not the only one. Now that Liu Kang beat her and take her position, I have a feeling the other Titans will come out from their hiding now. Hence the New Era. Finger cross MK12 will have of course Liu Kang, Kitana and Raiden, then the classic iconic like Scorpion, Sub-Zero, Kung Lao, Sonya and the rest, then a bunch of new characters.
1.Sonya died in front of Cassies eyes. 2.Timelines merged. 3.Raiden lost his power. 4.Who knows when Mortal Kombat 12 gonna come out. This four thing are worst.
It's like I'm watching infinity war and this is endgame were they go over all the possible timeline to defeat the villain. Maybe the movie will be like this guess just a few more days to find out.
I have never been this happy after just watching a fighting game playthrough. This both looks good, and appears to play well too. And the plot is an excellent one. Bravo, NetherRealm. You hit a home run.

So okay, Kronika is a Titan, which came out of nowhere (maybe hinted a bit in MK9), but fine. Elder Gods are Titans' children. But why would Kronika care about realms balance if there were no realms in the first place? Why does she care at all about anything if she was fine (I assume) before the realms and exists outside them? Elder Gods created realms when they 'divided' the One Being, who had been feeding off them, but the realms are more like a by-product, so what were the Titans doing before the Realms and what was their, eh, opinion I guess on the One Being? Where are the other Titans for that matter? Why is every Elder God is now a god of something like in the 2nd MK movie? They have lesser gods to be gods of thunder, wind, fire and whatever. Why did Kronika wipe out the Elder Gods if theу were the ones caring about the balance? Why is this blamed on Raiden if he's the one who actually fought against the uncontrolable realm-merging? Why didn't she stopped Shinnok when his victory could bring back the One Being thus destroying the balance? How is realms fighting each other brings balance if it leads to merging? Also what about the 3rd (or rather the very first one) timeline - the original one - where Shao Kahn defeated the Blaze? Just a quick Raiden vs LK montage and that's it? I'm so fucking confused, help me, people.
@Eclipse538 No you weren't listening to anything and are justifying the stupidity of the story let us all break down your post: The realms were undone as we knew them by Kronika's omission, which could mean that she just reset Time to the very beginning of the realm's existence, which is the most plausible explanation, because the realms are merely the dream of the one being and do not technically exist. She is the one, who merely supervises and crafts the destiny of the realms, not the ones that made them, this was the elder God's doing. Also the realms did not came later in her plan, the realms in balance are her goal, but her balance is not well defined and makes no sense whatsoever, since no one understands why she wants endless wars. No there is no evidence for it, the Titans did not destroy the one being nor was her role in it's defeat explained, not to mention that it also ruins the Character of the Elder Gods and the One Being, since apparently they do not matter anymore. So IDK where you get that bullshit, not from the story, because it explains nothing. That's a false dilemma, The Elder Gods are not sorely earthrealms gods, they care for the existence of all realms in some level and want to keep them balanced like Kronika, but she killed them for some reason because they don't think endless wars will stop the balance of the realms, which is hard to believe, I mean why are the elder gods against her?what's their side in the story? None, they were disposable tools no one cared about,a o they were squashed. Yeah and her plans are not explained by her, but by Raiden and Cetrion, she never makes a case for the balance and she never explains why we need a balance between Good and evil beyond buzzwords. Can't she just say that it's all there to prevent the one being? Also Shinnok's conquest was sorely focused on Earthrealm, until he decided to take edenia instead, so why was he banished and not protected by Kronika, what purpose did his banishment had, when her goal was that he would rule forever as lord of Darkness, while Cerion is the Lady of Light? Yet again no info why this balance is needed? If shinnok tries to bring back the one being, there will be no realms to balance, since they are all the one being, ergo making him too dangerous for her plans and prove how stupid she is, with her believe in balance. It's as Liu Kang said, her balance is folly. Merging IS THE end goal of the One being and the main driving force behind Shao Khan and Onaga and ultimately the reason why they merge of realms is such abig deal for the elder gods, because Good is the force that encourages the separation of the realms while Evil any form of consolidating in the MKverse(Though I as a one being fan do think it's the opposite) . All the other nonsense like slavery and evil and death are all but secondary and not really that bad, since no one in the Realms actually exist, Kronika's balance seems more interested in preventing the One being's return, so that no one can bring it back, when everyone is occupied in endless wars, but she never expoused the idea and forced me to do it and as such is a terrible villian and you defended due to your nostalgia being in the way of logic and reason.
1:49 How ironic that Shinnok was right with what he told Dark Raiden-- Dark Raiden was not able to see Kronika manipulating him and amplifying his anger, due to his arrogance and rage being amped up by her. His past self was fortunate enough in Chapter 11 after his fight with Liu Kang to see what his future self was too blind to see. Since I'm sure Shinnok was well aware of his mother's plans for the realms, and what his inevitable destiny of being the darkness to Cetrion's light was to be, even as he sought to end life on a massive scale.

Seeing as how there are past and present versions of some characters, wouldnt it also make sense that they have different Fatal Blows? Also im finding myself really liking Jade and Kotal.
While that will be cool, is a lot of work they have to do. NRS has done a good job here. The only thing that saddest me is the Fire God Liu Kang is just a skin for Liu Kang. For me it will be cool if Fire God Liu Kang is a stand alone character with original moveset, kinda like Evil Ryu, Devil Jin and Shadow Jago. I mean hell finally we have a proper transformation power up for Liu Kang. The Zombie and Revenant form is just a downgrade for Liu Kang instead of power up.

One thing that is upsetting is Kabals story. Why are the heroes referring to him as a criminal, yet he died as a good guy in mk9?
Kabal was part of the black dragon in MK2. Some time later in MK3 is when he reforms and tries to be better.

Yes I seen this story playthrough from my friend and I what Known so far is that this marks the end for the 2.5d era and will go back to the 3d style inspired by the Tekken games since MK4 for n64. Ed Boon even stated in the recent interview that he does want to make new ips and also go back to making 3d MK games but right now his main focus is this game. Since Liu Kang and Kitana basically is set to be the First Elder God and Goddess of this realm they are going to recreate the realm in their image and new conflict will rises like always.

I don't think they gonna do the 3D era in the future. The characters, yes can return back but not the plot. The thing here is the result of MK11 ending is actually show us that now they wanted to explore a new possibility, they have freedom now instead of going back milking the same event. For what we saw, the highest probability for the future threat of MK is the Titans. Kronika is not the only one. Now that Liu Kang beat her and take her position, I have a feeling the other Titans will come out from their hiding now. Hence the New Era. Finger cross MK12 will have of course Liu Kang, Kitana and Raiden, then the classic iconic like Scorpion, Sub-Zero, Kung Lao, Sonya and the rest, then a bunch of new characters.
1.Sonya died in front of Cassies eyes.
2.Timelines merged.
3.Raiden lost his power.
4.Who knows when Mortal Kombat 12 gonna come out.

So okay, Kronika is a Titan, which came out of nowhere (maybe hinted a bit in MK9), but fine. Elder Gods are Titans' children. But why would Kronika care about realms balance if there were no realms in the first place?
Why does she care at all about anything if she was fine (I assume) before the realms and exists outside them?
Elder Gods created realms when they 'divided' the One Being, who had been feeding off them, but the realms are more like a by-product, so what were the Titans doing before the Realms and what was their, eh, opinion I guess on the One Being? Where are the other Titans for that matter?
Why is every Elder God is now a god of something like in the 2nd MK movie? They have lesser gods to be gods of thunder, wind, fire and whatever.
Why did Kronika wipe out the Elder Gods if theу were the ones caring about the balance?
Why is this blamed on Raiden if he's the one who actually fought against the uncontrolable realm-merging?
Why didn't she stopped Shinnok when his victory could bring back the One Being thus destroying the balance?
How is realms fighting each other brings balance if it leads to merging?
Also what about the 3rd (or rather the very first one) timeline - the original one - where Shao Kahn defeated the Blaze? Just a quick Raiden vs LK montage and that's it?

The realms were undone as we knew them by Kronika's omission, which could mean that she just reset Time to the very beginning of the realm's existence, which is the most plausible explanation, because the realms are merely the dream of the one being and do not technically exist. She is the one, who merely supervises and crafts the destiny of the realms, not the ones that made them, this was the elder God's doing. Also the realms did not came later in her plan, the realms in balance are her goal, but her balance is not well defined and makes no sense whatsoever, since no one understands why she wants endless wars.
No there is no evidence for it, the Titans did not destroy the one being nor was her role in it's defeat explained, not to mention that it also ruins the Character of the Elder Gods and the One Being, since apparently they do not matter anymore. So IDK where you get that bullshit, not from the story, because it explains nothing.
That's a false dilemma, The Elder Gods are not sorely earthrealms gods, they care for the existence of all realms in some level and want to keep them balanced like Kronika, but she killed them for some reason because they don't think endless wars will stop the balance of the realms, which is hard to believe, I mean why are the elder gods against her?what's their side in the story? None, they were disposable tools no one cared about,a o they were squashed.
Yeah and her plans are not explained by her, but by Raiden and Cetrion, she never makes a case for the balance and she never explains why we need a balance between Good and evil beyond buzzwords. Can't she just say that it's all there to prevent the one being? Also Shinnok's conquest was sorely focused on Earthrealm, until he decided to take edenia instead, so why was he banished and not protected by Kronika, what purpose did his banishment had, when her goal was that he would rule forever as lord of Darkness, while Cerion is the Lady of Light? Yet again no info why this balance is needed?
If shinnok tries to bring back the one being, there will be no realms to balance, since they are all the one being, ergo making him too dangerous for her plans and prove how stupid she is, with her believe in balance. It's as Liu Kang said, her balance is folly.
Merging IS THE end goal of the One being and the main driving force behind Shao Khan and Onaga and ultimately the reason why they merge of realms is such abig deal for the elder gods, because Good is the force that encourages the separation of the realms while Evil any form of consolidating in the MKverse(Though I as a one being fan do think it's the opposite) . All the other nonsense like slavery and evil and death are all but secondary and not really that bad, since no one in the Realms actually exist, Kronika's balance seems more interested in preventing the One being's return, so that no one can bring it back, when everyone is occupied in endless wars, but she never expoused the idea and forced me to do it and as such is a terrible villian and you defended due to your nostalgia being in the way of logic and reason.

His past self was fortunate enough in Chapter 11 after his fight with Liu Kang to see what his future self was too blind to see. Since I'm sure Shinnok was well aware of his mother's plans for the realms, and what his inevitable destiny of being the darkness to Cetrion's light was to be, even as he sought to end life on a massive scale.

While that will be cool, is a lot of work they have to do. NRS has done a good job here. The only thing that saddest me is the Fire God Liu Kang is just a skin for Liu Kang. For me it will be cool if Fire God Liu Kang is a stand alone character with original moveset, kinda like Evil Ryu, Devil Jin and Shadow Jago. I mean hell finally we have a proper transformation power up for Liu Kang. The Zombie and Revenant form is just a downgrade for Liu Kang instead of power up.
