    Very helpful indeed. The Ixil fitting instructions are a joke at best.
    I bought the after market pipe after watching this insightful video.

    FYI - when you want to cut a bolt down, it's best to put the nut on first (further than the cut). Then you'll back the nut off over the cut - thus helping to re-thread the end.

    Hey, I know i am a bit late to the party, but I have a question. Did you notice a dip in performance? I read horror stories about the ixil, that it takes about 10-15hp off of the bike. Right now I have a Leovince, but it's so quiet, that above 80 kph (about 50 mph I guess, I am from Europe) the wind noise is louder, than the exhaust which is a real shame for a 1000cc bike. So I intend to get the ixil, but i am scared by the loss of power

      Hey Raphael, I'm sorry but I really don't know if I lost any power. My days of redlining are well past (65 year-old ex-fighter pilot), but I would recommend that if you have any questions, a good motorcycle tuning shop would probably be able to answer them. If I were concerned, I would have it tuned following installation. It sounds great, and the bike still has enough power to scare the shit out of you, I guarantee... Ride safe!

    Did you put a power commander on the bike after the mod? Just curious as I want to do the same.

      Mark H No, I haven’t put a PC on it... yet. Gonna look for a used one this season. Seems to run well, but I’m sure a PC remap will only help. Also, thanks for the tip on trimming a bolt...

      @@skeeter5377 - Glad to help with the tip (I learned that from another motor head). In fact, when the nut is down on the bolt...and after the cut, you can use a dremel (or a chunk of sandpaper) to further file down the edges of the cut (the burrs)...then back the nut off...screwing it back-and-forth at the end. It makes starting a new nut easy.
      I actually picked up a new 2015 CB100R (holdover) last spring...and I noticed that even the stock bike was running lean right off of idle...classic Honda. It annoys me to no end! So I'm really glad to find your video - as that's the pipe I want (keeping the cat), and power commander actually has a map for this pipe (with the cat). Thanks so much for the video - I really appreciate your efforts!

      @@skeeter5377 - I just installed my IXIL L2X Hyperlow using your video. Thanks to you, the installation went quick and painlessly. You sure were right about the lack of instructions...take off old pipe, mount new pipe with included hardware....yikes!! I'll be installing the power commander this weekend.

      @@skeeter5377 - I did take the cb1000r out today just to get a "before" feel for the bike (after the gasket maker was cured). My thoughts were was it ran about the same (just had a nice exhaust note to it). However, I did notice a smell of richness...unburnt fuel almost. Even after putting 10 miles on it. So I'm pretty sure the stock ECU programming couldn't deal with the extra flow and/or the change in exhaust pressures. I can't be 100%, but by the seat of my pants...it might've been just a tad bit boggy (kinda hard to describe). I really tried paying attention to throttle delivery, even though listening to the exhaust note drew me away. lol
      After the test ride, most of my day was spent installing the tidy tail...it was both straightforward and yet a bit complicated. There's another youtube video for our make/model that really helped the install. There were just a lot of steps (and the instructions weren't much better than our pipe instructions). I got it installed and looks amazing with our pipe. It really shows off the single-sided swing arm - the right side looks like the rear wheel isn't even attached!
      So At any rate, I started the power commander install...I was thinking it would be relatively easy after the tidy tail. Plus, our weather in MN is gonna go to crap tomorrow...like, it's gonna snow (4/12). Today was in the low 60's and I was hoping to give the bike a test after the power commander install.
      I started routing the cables...things went relatively smoothly. Then came the injectors. Each injector plug has to be re-plugged with the PCV harness. You have to take off plastic. I attempted to just unbolt the front of the gas tank to pivot it up to get to the injectors. It worked for injector 1 and 2...but 3 and 4....Yikes!
      I got a bit hangery (at 7pm), and didn't want to start making mistakes (forcing it). So I'll refocus my efforts, get some sleep, read some tips, etc. Sounds like removing the fuel tank is needed. Looks like MN will be in the 30's for the next week...so a test ride will have to wait.

    What is that pipe that slides in the cat first with the holes in?

    • @skeeter5377
      @skeeter5377  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      It took me a while to figure out what you were talking about. I think if you watch the first 20 seconds of the video, you will see the parts laid out on the floor. The end of the new IXIL pipe that goes into the cat has holes all around it. I think the video explains better than I can. I hope this helps.

      @@skeeter5377Hello, "The end of the new IXIL pipe that goes into the cat has holes all around it" yes, thats the pipe i am talking about. what is that pipe for? is it stuck in the ixil muffler? Thanks!

    • @skeeter5377
      @skeeter5377  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Honda_VTI Hey Matt, the part you are talking about is part of the new pipe, it is all ONE PIECE, so the hole-covered pipe is just the end of the new muffler that is inserted into the cat and then secured with the clamp. At :35 the video shows the parts laying on the ground. Sorry if this doesn’t explain it well.

    where is the exhaust sensor?

    • @skeeter5377
      @skeeter5377  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Joseaph, this slip-on exhaust is mounted after the catalytic converter. The cat remains in place. I believe that the sensor is connected to the cat. I tried to find some info about it. This thread may be helpful. www.hondacb1000r.com/forums/modification/10265-cat-removal-disconnecting-lambda-sensor.html Hope this helps...
