Installing Closet Trim

This is the second video in the series of this room renovation. I add new trim around the room and around the closet. All the other closets in the house had trim on them except this one. When I pulled up the floor I noticed that the closet opening was widened at some point.

Do you need a table saw trim the width of the board, or did you have extra hang out the back? I'm measuring my wall thickness at 4.75" wide. Also trying to create durable trim corners while giving up minimum amount of opening width.

I am more confused at what the lumber or trim is called when I go buy it. What do I look for when I go to Home Depot or Menards?

I just used 1”X (Width that you need) X Length that you need. Same trim that would be used around a window but most commonly on the windowsill. You want something that doesn’t have any knots that is very straight. Hope that helps.
