    Thank you for this tutorial. While it's clear this series was prepared for architectural students who are in need of instruction in the rudiments of model making, the clear presentation of these basic elements has allowed me to take advantage of numerous other online tutorials more effectively.

    Architectural Models: Construction Techniques by Wolfgang Knoll and Martin Hechinger is a good book. It goes into a variety of model making techniques and presents them in a clear & concise way.
    Thanks for watching! :)

    Plexiglas is a good material to consider but may be a bit rigid; also look into thinner more flexible plastics like cellophane sheets are more affordable and can purchased a art supplies stores like Dick Blick

    A foam core board model is good for constructing and studying the basic shape of the structure. But, if you want to see the actual building materials including siding, roofing and details, I recommend building with the 3-D Home Kit, which can be found online. You can also combine the foam core board and material sheets from the kit.

    I'm not for sure how loud this is but I'm deaf and can lip read. But it looks like you're mumbling and I can't stand mumblers!

    plexiglas is preferable and you can get it in varying thicknesses, but another option could be the clear plastic that's used to window some envelopes and commercial products

  • @g-lurk

    another issue with foam core is not recyclable, and is banned from my college.
    chipboard (grey) and cardboard are my favorite!

    I used to use matchsticks to build model houses, then I went over to make them from plaster and later on a mixture of cement with plaster. For the walls I used to make molds with layed in openings for windows and doors, for this I used a rubber mat, to pop them out easier, after they were dry. I also have made some houses with "Billing Boat" wooden strips, etc. and Birch triplex of 1, 2 and 3 mm thickness. Now I would like to use Foamboard, which is mostly used by Architects, it's easy to cut.

    @ChicagoArchToday  13 ปีที่แล้ว

    I would suggest foam because its easier to carve out the shapes you may need for this and would require cheaper,simpler tools

    Actually it was composed by Thomas Newman and it's from the movie American Beauty...it is called 'Arose' you know architecture is a serious intellectual thing i'm surprised an intern and/or a firm would claim it as theirs...

    thanks for writing! you can make a model of any structure that interests you especially if its just for you but if its for a class you might be limited by what your teacher or classmates want to do.

    @Justin it depends what kind of curve you are going for? I made a curved bridge out of wood by laser cutting pieces from a side view until it was the right thickness.

  • @TheSubject000

    what materials to use if i want to make a curved transparent bridge? using acrylic plastic would be hard and was hoping for anything more flexible
