  • It is evident Kova has disbursed from the natal area along with Brit and Rey. Kova hasn't been seen since Thursday, August 15th, at 1:32 pm. Brit and Rey's young eagle was 104 days old on this day. Kova, as he typically does, came to the nest early morning and perched on the little perch before flying off, squeeing. Kova returned to the nest at 12:36 pm and spent time on the right support perch before flying off, squeeing all the way. Did Kova see mom or dad out and about? That we do not know. However, it would seem their migration has begun to possibly the salmon runs or other places with good food resources. Kova will learn the ways to survive from his parents, other adults and other young birds along the way to becoming a majestic eagle.
Brit was last seen on the afternoon August 14th when she brought in some food for Kova. Possibly Rey brought in food for Kova early on that same morning. Of course, Kova was quick to the nest to grab the food and shove the parents from the nest.
Now we will wait for Brit and Rey to return in the fall to began again with another successful season. Wishing Kova a long and healthy life as a magnificent eagle. Stay safe, eagle family, with your travels.
Thank you, Hancock Wildlife Foundation for allowing us the privilege to follow Brit and Rey throughout their nesting season. Join us as we follow this magnificent eagle pair this year. hancockwildlif...
