Hi Kent, I’m thinking of purchasing your timing chain kit for my 1984 300D, it’s got a non turbo engine in it if that makes any difference. How difficult would you say the job is? I know how to do a lot on my car but I’ve never done anything like a timing chain before. I have 232k miles and no record of the chain being changed before so I’m a little bit concerned.
Dylan, you can pull the valve cover and check it for stretch. I would say it is an intermediate job. It is more about the care and critical thinking needed than it is about hard work. To guarantee success it is a two man job and the other person should be mechanically inclined to help prevent the chain from "jumping or jamming" when installing it. Hope that helps. Kent
@@Mercedessource Thank you very much Kent. I appreciate your feedback. I need to do a valve adjustment soon so i will also be purchasing your kit for that. While the valve cover is off I’ll check the chain stretch. Thank you for the response! - Dylan.
