  • Tesla Model 3 Review: Best & most fun car I've ever driven! Model 3 is currently the most affordable Tesla. In the US it's the best-selling all-electric car & mid-size premium sedan.

    I've been a #Tesla fan for a long time but now I realize how far ahead Tesla is technologically.
    I can use the Tesla app to manage many different things on my #Model3 from anywhere - see its location, interior temperature, check if it's charging, view the battery range, turn on heat or AC, remotely unlock or lock the doors, open the frunk/trunk, honk the horn and flash the lights.
    As long as I have my smartphone with Bluetooth enabled, the Model 3 senses when I'm near the car and it will automatically unlock when I press to open the door, and it's ready to drive when I sit.
    Windshield wipers can be set to Auto which will enable the wipers to automatically turn themselves on and off based on off it's raining or not.
    The Trip Planner is great because when you type in a destination that is more distance than your current battery range, it will show you which Superchargers you need to stop at and how long you need to charge in order to get to your destination without running out of battery.
    It allows music playback through Bluetooth from a smartphone but what I really love is that the Model 3 has built-in LTE connection with music streaming via Slacker Radio. When playing via Bluetooth is does display what you're playing on the touch screen and you're able to control the playback from the steering wheel and on-screen buttons.
    Besides the two stalks on either side that have controls like windshield wipers, brights, turn signals, parking button, cruise control and autopilot: the wheel has two scroll buttons that can be scrolled up or down, pressed left or right, and clicked in the middle. My hope is that Tesla can continue to push software updates that will enable more sophisticated voice controls because that's where many of our devices are moving towards and it would be great to say things like "set cruise control to 70 mph" or "open glovebox".
    Tesla claims this is still beta but you've probably heard of Tesla Autopilot which, on certain roads, will automatically steer, accelerate, and brake as needed to stay within the lane at whatever speed you set. To enable Autopilot while driving, double tap down on the right stalk and if it's available it will pop a message saying to keep your hands on the wheel and be ready to take over at any time.
    On roads when Autopilot isn't available or when it's limited to a certain speed, I will enable normal cruise control with one tap down of the right stalk and it maintains that speed like any other car but if the car ahead slows down, the Model 3 will brake and speed up again to maintain that speed.
    Even though it's fun to enjoy the quick acceleration, there's an ironic phenomenon that comes with owning a Tesla because I've found it to be a fun challenge to see if I can achieve better range efficiency than my previous drive.
    In the Model 3 if you need to come to a complete stop while driving like at a red light for example, all you have to do is press the brake pedal until the "Hold" icon appears and then you can take your foot off the brake and the car will stay stopped.
    When cruise control is enabled it keeps a steady speed even if you're going up or down a steep hill, there's no delay in acceleration compared to my old Pontiac.
    It's attractive while being fully electric with zero emissions, it's quick yet quiet, it's fast yet safe, it's compact yet comfortable, it's fun yet relaxing, it can travel over 300 miles on a single charge yet has a nationwide network of Supercharger stations for a quick charge when needed, and most of all: the Model 3 is the future, and it's here now.
    Tesla Model 3 is like the flagship smartphone to the electric vehicle & autonomous car revolution, and once you experience it you may get a little sad & nostalgic for antiquated gasoline cars because they'll soon be forgotten in the rear view mirror of what is the #TeslaModel3

      Andy if your Model 3 saves you $10 every 100 miles on fuel and does not need its oil changed every three months like your gas car, then you will save $34000 in 300,000 miles by driving a Model 3. $34,000 in fuel and oil savings would make an entry level $35,000 Model 3 virtually free.

    • @aslye
      @aslye  6 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      But you also have to factor in the added electricity cost to your already existing electricity bill plus any Supercharger fees. And for many people a higher cost of car insurance.

    • @js-tv1mn
      @js-tv1mn 6 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Andy, I do not understand the point because you already factored $1.48 per 100 miles in electricity cost for home charging your Model 3, and you said gas for your G6 cost $11.50 ($10.00 more) per 100 miles. So $10 savings every 100 miles in your Model 3 will save $30,000 every 300,000 miles.
      Oil changes and other necessary maintenance for a gas engine and transmission would cost at least $4,000 over 300,000 miles, and those costs will be much higher if the gas engine and transmission need to be rebuilt to reach 300,000 miles of service. Teslas, by comparison, only require one gear oil change every 15 years. And the Model 3 motors in Tesla Semis have million mile warranties, so these motors should last a very long time in Model 3s.
      The Model 3 body is mostly made of steel that should not be any more difficult to repair than other cars in the same price range. And Tesla is setting up body shops in its service centers to speed repairs, reduce cost, and lower insurance rates.
      Supercharger use would vary greatly from driver to driver and Supercharger rates vary State by State. These costs, if any, should be calculated by each individual.

      I absolutely love my Model 3. Best car I've ever driven.

      @Tomas-qn5im 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      It doesn't require oil changes and has less potential parts that can brake, but it's not perfect by any means. You still have to pay for the maintenance occasionally.

      Because we have free thinking minds? Because we pay attention? Because we watch and read things other than fan-boy materials, such as Consumer Reports? Because we're not going to hype every square inch of a device while ignoring reality, the issues with and short coming of the device and it's production? I have no idea.

    Andy, where have you been hiding? Your Model 3 review is by far the best I've seen. You speak very fast, very clear, no ugh's, hence I don't get bored. Don't know if you use a teleprompter, if you do then it shows foresight. I've watched several other Tesla-heads and after a couple of videos I can't watch them anymore. Two come to mind: Ben Sullins and E for Electric. Neither is competition for your tight style. Keep up the good work and don't limit yourself to Tesla.

    • @aslye
      @aslye  6 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      Thanks for the kind words, Roger! I dedicate a lot of my spare time to making these videos and it's good to hear this kind of positive feedback. I usually script my videos but I don't use a teleprompter. I memorize/speak a few lines at a time.

      They are already (kind off) hiring him: he won 2 roadsters worth 500k usd with his referral code and still getting 1000’s of miles of free supercharging and additional chances to win cars.
      Good thing the refferal program is back. There is an obvious increase in youtubers videos on the model 3 again. Seen them all, never hear anything new, but still watch them as the fan boy I am.
      I am super jaleous. Scraping every penny I can find since I reserved one in 2017 to be able to buy one. And hoping the afforable model comes out soon in the Netherlands.

    Loved your review. The Millennium generation is a lot different than my baby boom generation. I can see that you instantly “get” the Model 3, where so many of my generation really are fighting it. Some quick observations on my part, after owning the Model 3 ( the same as yours, red with aero wheels) for 3 months : yes, I have owned 30+ vehicles in my time ; this is by far the best, hands down, you are driving the future. The M3 is efficient; I love to drive it every day for the fun of it, but it is efficient, you walk up, enter, click the stalk and you are under way. Reach your destination; push Park, get out and go. In day to day driving, it may be me but I almost feel the M3 is a efficient “tool”. The quietness and acceleration: nothing like I have ever experienced; merging is a joke, just put your foot in it you are instantaneously at speed of any existing traffic. My favorite muscle car, the 1969 442. It was relatively quiet and fast, take the M3 and multiply it by 2. I owned a Ferrari F355, the M3 is faster. Regenerative braking ; most of the time I don’t use the brake pedal; I primarily accelerate and decelerate with the right pedal, very efficient, I love it ! Components: the more I ponder it, the more I feel Tesla has built a million mile vehicle, this car will go on and on and will be updated OTA. I could go on and on about this car. When economy of scale of the batteries bring the price down to 35k, this car will bring modern innovation to the masses, it will change the world.

      I just hope big oil and the traditional auto industry don’t kill it before Tesla becomes profitable. It’s going to be a difficult 12 to 24 months for Tesla. Hope they weather their Finacial crisis.

      The Alpha Male , all Tesla has to do is execute. They have a great lineup of products; Model 3, Model Y, Pickup, Semi, Powerwalls, slate solar roofs and a battery factory to supply them. A Supercharger network to charge them and people waiting in line to buy them. Don’t even mention the Roadster, that will embarrass everything else, battery power systems for municipalities, a revenue stream from the Superchargers and the competition that is largely getting out of the sedan/coupe business.

    I love the look of this car, inside and out. I call it 'The Spaceship'. It's beautiful, and my favorite car right now that I have a chance of buying. I prefer it in white with the aero wheels you have here. This car feels like it's from the future, especially if you're like me and the last car you bought was in 2013. I love the back-up camera too, the 15" display, the Tesla supercharger network, the longer range, etc. The speed of the Model 3 (even in its slowest trim) is awesome. The one I rented for two days was the 0-60 in 4.5 second variant, with 310 miles range and AWD. I love the seats too, and the minimalist interior is amazing (especially combined with the super quiet ride at-speed in the HOV lane).
    The Tesla Model 3 is the reason I bought my first EV (2018 Nissan LEAF) until I can get a Model 3. :D Great choice, great review!

    Hey Andy, excellent review! I took delivery of my Model 3 up in Toronto on May 31st and love it. Mine is the identical colour and wheel choice as yours. The most comprehensive review I’ve seen. It took me almost 5 hours to look up how hourly power rates work and read reviews, see what type of outlet would be required etc when I was considering a chevy volt. I just happened upon this vehicle as a Tesla is not in my price range or practical in my rural area but just had to give you props for being so detailed. Even down to the cost comparison to gas and the watt hour efficiency. Just a really good video!

      The sound is like watching an action movie on low volume or louder volume (given you have a good sound system). The latter will be more immersive. Same with fast cars, you get more feeling of speed if the car also sounds fast and not only feels fast.

    You mention you would like better blind spot detection because although the car has 360 degree views, there is a car icon with a yellow shadow blinking on your 15" screen to show cars approaching in blind spot. My resolve is to leave the rear facing camera 'on' while driving because its my understanding its a 180 degree view and this works beautifully as you see cars in multiple lanes or motorcycles zooming up from quite a ways. I leave my Navigation "voice on" so that she tells me when I'm approaching an exit or which lane I should be in. The Tesla is more than a car. It's a marvel of science and technology and a path to a clean more economical future. Thank u. I loved your comprehensive video. Kids love being dropped off at school in a Tesla! They are our future!

    It's been a long hard road - service and logistics nightmare! I have had my T3 for a few days now and I have to say that I absolutely LOVE this car. I have owned a lot of cars over the years, including high performance BMW's, but this absolutely takes the cake!
    It is a hoot to drive. It's fast, and comfortable! The handling is amazing!
    Let's see how it holds up? I hope that it is reliable?

    One of the best reviews of the Model 3. Excellent comprehensive footage, well presented. I've got a reservation here in Australia where the car is still ~2 years away from being released. We will be the last country to receive it I guess. At least, as you said, the car gets better over time and we will also have all features and options available including maybe even some new batteries.
    Thanks, Andy (from Andy)

    I like the way you conduct your evaluations. Quite an honest and enthusiastic TH-cam creator. Thanks!

      Do you guys realize Andy is being compensated by Tesla and that he's just making Tesla commercials?

    I really really wanna see Tesla starting their sells in India , People are so hyped up for them here but we have to pay enormous import duties just to get them here.. Total Cost reaches upto 90k for the exact same model..
