It has been reported by tacomabeast that they ran 35's on a new tacoma which caused the turbo to overheat. So 35's on a stock tacoma would burn out the turbo. Maybe re gearing or just run 33's and hope that your 60K dollar truck doesn't blow a ball bearing or worse.
I believe that is Jace’s Tacoma you’re referring to. (Ghosted_trd). His transmission was over heating and he said his turbo runs at max boost for extended periods of time when going up a grade. All that to say he is worried about the long term reliability of the 35s on these non hybrid models.
Would re-gearing help? I just got a 24 taco and was thinking of doing some bigger tires, but I don’t wanna fry my motor! I have a MT too, which has a lower gear ratio I believe
I know it was sick! I just couldn’t do it anymore with how limiting it was which would ruin the fun sometimes but man I’ve always wanted to do a show truck build so that was a fun run
Mark - Trying to compare the Trailhunter and TRD Off-road to see if the Trailhunter is worth the extra cost. Was curious how much you paid for your tire upgrade with the rims? Also, what was the cost of the bumper you got?
The TRD OR would have motored right thru that hill climb. Whenever I see people buying Sport's to build out 4 Wheel rigs I literally roll my eyes. Yes I know Mark's truck isn't a Sport, but it shares the same handicap.
Depends what you need. I’m not normally in need of drive modes that OR comes equipped with as I don’t do technical trails too often but when I do I always find my way out of any predicament I’m in with either technique, traction boards or in this case a friend standing on my rock slider 😂
There is also the option for 35x11.5x17 but in my opinion the wider tire looks so good and really adds an aggressive look to the truck along with better traction
Maybe something to consider for the long term if running a heavy load tire. Throwing a Load C on it to keep the tire weight down would be better off then something like a load E for example
Does anybody know what is the largest size tire for the 2024 Taco that will actually fit in the allotted spare tire compartment??? 33 or 35, thx in advance
According to Icon, 33's are the best tire size for the new Tacoma. I say it's your truck do what you want. However if it's between TH-cam content creators and Icon, I'm going to listen to the guys that actually design lifts and suspensions.
I gave my input based on experience I have with my setup not rubbing in the slightest. I can’t speak for Icon but there are some factors to consider such as allignment and the fact they chose not to remove the inner fender bracket to clear the 35s Westcott Designs has their own allignment specs for their lifts which I have installed and everything clears perfect.
What would you estimate the power loss and mpg loss to be at? How's the spool on your turbo while driving around town and on the freeway?
About 1/8th power loss, about 1-2 mpg per gallon on average, maybe not depending
When I detail a truck I usually clean the tires also, but hey that’s just me I guess lol

What were they doing when it overheated? I’ll check it out, Is there a video?

So the moral of the story is.... Bring a spare person with you when you go offroading for traction.
Lol right
Does the Wescott designs collar lift effect your Toyota warranty?
Very Cool Mark. It’s impressive to fit 35’s on a Tacoma. And it’s a 4-cylinder. Cool buddy 😎
So what do you prefer? The new tundra or Tacoma, having driven/modified both
I really liked the set up with 37x13.5 and -44 offset on your SR5. I wanted to get that my 2021 Tundra
I know it was sick! I just couldn’t do it anymore with how limiting it was which would ruin the fun sometimes but man I’ve always wanted to do a show truck build so that was a fun run
@@MarkBrenner Agreed! The functionality is definitely not the best but it certainly looks bad ass😎
@@erandyperez2452 haha love it 😂
damn... that is one cool red/green truck
🤣🤣
With 35s do you think this truck would be good as a daily driver or stick with 33s?
Love how the 35s look
🤘
Mark for your Tundra TRD Pro did you replace the rear coil springs. What is the height for both front and rear? thank you and loved your video.
I didn’t replace the rear I just have a spacer in it bring it up almost and inch in the rear and 2.5” in front with the preload collar
That square body Chevy kick butt
It’s so sick in person
What kind of tires are those bro they look bad ass hella beefy?
How do you find the sr5 without the locker for off roading? Is it good enough? Why didn't you get the off road taco?
It’s more then good enough. I never use the locker on my Pro Tundra so i just didn’t see any value in the TRD OR package
What trim is this?

Beautiful truck
Thank u!
Nate needs to roll them
Wheels when doing tire shine to get the bottom edges
I’ll let him know!
No rubbing or body mount chop putting 35s on 17s for the 24 Tacoma?
Didn’t cut a single thing

@@MarkBrennerI’ll let you borrow my ORP for a video if you are ever on my side of the US.
Nice looking truck
Thanks!🙏
Depends on what you’re doing. All rounder -315/70r17. More sand and mud - 285/75r17 or 295/70r18 unless you want to order pizza cutters

Looks good, but I think the tires are too wide, and the truck looks like it needs a bit more lift to look more proportionate.
you worried about the extra stress on the axeles and vehicle with bigger tires?
Maybe something to consider for the long term if running a heavy load tire. Throwing a Load C on it to keep the tire weight down would be better off then something like a load E for example
The stock rear diff usually gives up pretty easily with 35's, so most guys know they're going to be replacing the ring and pinion sooner than later.
I went 285/65, 34.5x11.2” but my wheels are 9” wide 20’s with a +20 offset
Does anybody know what is the largest size tire for the 2024 Taco that will actually fit in the allotted spare tire compartment??? 33 or 35, thx in advance
I have this same question - waiting for the Pro trim
That first obstacle was the spotter’s fault…that wasn’t the right line to take obviously
slap on some portals and run 40s, then it would look perfect 😉
Offloading allows so much fun sometimes
That’s right 😁
so 33's and a front leveling kit in Dallas' daily traffic would probably work just fine
Can’t say for sure but probably without even lifting it
so the chevy at 16k is better than the 50 to 60 k Tacoma.
you're going to burn out the turbo lmao!! good luck with that bro.

LOOK GREAT NO REAR LOCKER ?
No rear locker
35s on Turdbo
that truck needs regear
Tacoma needs a much higher lift bro
4 cylinders……
CRAP
More articulation with optional sway bar disconnect.
Yeah
