U can do varre's quest in the 1st patch offline by doing the volcano manor invasions and the yura invasion and talking to him later.

so essentially the updates that came after were downgrades ,bosses were made easier,one armor set removed,an entire moveset of malenia removed.

They never should have nerfed Godfrey or Radhan in my opinion. One was supposed to be as strong as Millenia and and the other the greatest warrior to ever live so yeah, they deserved to be monsters.

Crazy to think people used the serpent spear for Rykard my first 2 playthroughs I didn’t know it had a special move like that so I just used my normal build to kill him…fuckin hell

It's crazy how without disc versions of games there would be almost no legitimate way to do this. Aside from people on day one saving the files in a different folder before the first patch and figuring out how to launch them later; but even then, often the first patch will come at the moment it launches, so in many cases it literally would be impossible. I've seen so many discoveries in old games made from seemingly innocuous differences between day one versions and final versions of the game.

its super interesting that there's so many differences in names, I think its due to translation but its interesting that the translations weren't finalized on release.

I would really love an unnerfed version of the bosses. Started playing it a year ago and got ready for Malenia and Radahn whoop my ass only to beat them after like 5 tries. A kinda disapointing experience.

You're at least better than most : ) I have no lifed about 4000 hours into the game unpatched on my modded ps4 pro with a 4tb ssd. I can one shot many bosses like Margit. I can beat melania like nothing. I can beat the game from start to fin in 30 mins. And it's because after allll this messing around with the unpatched version... I learned 2 SUPER OVER POWERED methods of combat. And when I say OP i mean OOOOOHHHHH PEEEE! It's the lion bow and the mimic tear. Lion bows L2 move........ BUT! only use those big greyish gollem arrows. For some reason on the unpatched version these arrows often hit the target more than once as they rip through enemies. The damage is massive! 4 shot kill on saxy boy the 2 headed dragon with one missing head, it's insane! 3 shot for the elden beast. You can buy more arrows fairly cheap from the merchant at the end of the collapsed bridge when you first get into atlus. The bridge end opposite of that glorious golden mask guy. Now for the mimic tear. Get it to plus ten. And have a blast! But if you want to know what I know and not many others know.... listen up. Mimic spawns up with whatever weapons you had in each hand. Tends to use the right hand weapon the most. If you buff yourself and then summon, mimic will not be buffed so don't bother... No need anyways the mimic is plenty op. Not only is it just plain harder to kill in the unpatched version in terms of health. But the mimic heals for as many healing flasks you have. It has unlimited magic use and arrow use. Status effects barely do anything to the mimic. Just pretend that it can take 10 times the abuse that you can. It's that strong at taking damage! Equip warming stones. Chaos warming stones. Healing flasks. And those poison clump things. And even a catalyst if you want for healing spells which it can also abuse. Then summon. There lol... your mimic can pretty much insta heal about 50 times. Should be more than enough unless you're in some kind of insane 30 minute battle lololol. Lastly... put that bow in the mimics right hand. And only have gollem arrows equipped and no other arrow type. That way the mimic only abuses those op arrows. Game is on easy mode for ya if you follow these rules. Also the fallen star jaw beast is pretty OP and so is horefrost stomp. But frost stomp is only good up close and jaw beast is a boring spam weapon so I prefer the bow and maybe a slender noble sword. Just funner to use. Game is actually harder than the patched version in many areas. UNLESS you abuse that bow and mimic. Then it's pretty easy haha. I hope more folks try it unpatched. I love it a lot! I got the patched version on pc so I can get the best of both worlds depending on my mood : )

I remember the Halo Scythe in this version getting bleeds from the weapon skill, they also did so much damage from what I remembered

I have my day one disc still, I could play this version. I got to Leyndell with no updates cause my wifi was horrible at the time and would take weeks to updats ER

It's not VERY different at all...

I completed the game on V1 and just recently started playing again and feels a bit different. Looking forward to the dlc.

Dark Souls 2 is the best of the trilogy, i'm not even joking about that.

Ds2 is really not that bad at all. But whoever is going to dog on it... to be fair it has the worst PvE. Like the 1st vs the 2nd, the 1st game's PvE is way better. And the humanity and soul memory system sucks. Along with a lot of enemies designed around ganking and after a while despawning because of either over farming or dying way too much. The PvP though, easily top notch.

This area was awesome in dark souls 2. This is dark souls 2 sotfs the whole game in sotfs is awful.

I half expected Malenia to have perilous attack symbols from Sekiro... she has all 3 types... and she's clearly a recycled Sekiro boss in some capacity or another.

Some if these shortcuts slash glitches like the lyndell skip shouldn't have been patched i say leave it in cause most people will still use the regular way

i feel most people play ds2 “wrong” (there is no wrong way just have fun idk) but basically i played this game like tarkov or smt just checking every corner and lureing enemies to places i would have an easier time fighting them.doing that this game was really enjoyable tho i will say i may have gotten lucky and first tried the raindeer area.
