I am a dental hygienist and found out with the yrs that people floss n brush n still come with bleeding gum and deep pockets. After seeing a holistic Dr I changed the way I approach pts and how I started to address the problem.. it's all about the why!!
If the reason is a common sense, people are willing to try..
I think we all use our brain differently. Some of us are more motivated.. thank God I am one of those. I walk 2 miles in the morning, come home and do 20 mns meditation and practice Qigong 30 to 40 mns..I am a single mother of 4 kids. but I can't expect others to be as myself. I always wondered if i am trying to prove to myself that i am worthy, or it's my way to achieve and feel I am in control or I can do it.. I think it's all have to do with our mentality, what energy level we are in, our upbringing..
And most of all , how we handled our traumas of life.
Thank you for all you do 🙏🙏

It's the first time I hear about what you call " mindset" of your three m's. I usually listen to many of these podcast by various doctors and find them interesting and helpful. But they never mentioned reading or art gallery's or museums or theatre or musical concerts not only as a vital source of cognition about the human condition, but also as a behavior rich delight, entertainment and happiness. I personally believe reading literature, art and even philosophy could be a major contributor to your mind and physical life as well.

The '5 minutes' idea is pretty good. I've been doing versions of that off and on for the past year or more.
To just do small amounts of things here and there at different times as a self employed person does add up.

Not sure if it has anything to do with time. You can brush your teeth "mindlessly" so to speak. And many people can't even muster up the mental brainpower to do that. What keeps me from doing all these extra bits is that I feel overwhelmed and can't really put my mind to it. I feel that "doing something for your mental health" should mean you can put your heart and mind into it. I am often so stressed that sitting down for 5 minutes will not do anything to help me recuperate. Brushing my teeth on the other hand is just something I do while I put the kettle on, check my emails, stroke my cat. I am still multi-tasking - which kind of defeats the purpose when you are trying to meditate.

    I LOVE THIS!!!!!!!!
I do yoga the moment my feet hit the floor ,when I wake! and I hate waking up ,because I love to sleep 😴.I also do Andrew Weil 478 breathing.
Then I wash ,get my sunscreen on ,brush teeth, hair up get dressed ,shoes on.
I walk down the hallway and get the meds out ,feed the dogs.
And if I’m lucky with out any hiccups, I take my dogs out for a walk.
I care for three sick seniors, one is my husband ,and my elderly parents.
I do what I can while I can, I used to do two hours walking a day, but I don’t beat myself up if I can’t do it ,as I have full body arthritis., I use a pushchair ( it was my granddaughters ,she’s 12 now)that my little dog sits in.
Most important thing I love is the fresh air, and I LOVE a the birds singing.I will do the weights thing in the morning, an excellent idea, I don’t drink coffee ,but I eat blueberries, and I nook them for 2 minutes, so there’s 2 down & 3 to go! Thank you.
I believe it is all about the connection between the mind and the brain 🧠.

As I understand the psychology of conditioning and learning, motivational variables would feature prominently in a discussion of "principles of behavior change." Whether the behaviors being considered are “large” or “small,” “motivation” would play a role. My interpretation of BJ Fogg's work (cf. "celebratory consequences") suggests that he might agree with my appraisal. Your book sounds quite interesting and I look forward to reading it. My sincere thanks for what you and Mr. Kwik do.

Rangan Chatterjee is such a chatterbox. I only come to his channel (wincingly) because of the guests who agree to come on it.
While he pretends to be talking about other things and other people for the viewers' benefit, really he is talking about himself most of the time. And I think he secretly just revels in the British accent that he has happened to acquire, that's why he keeps talking over his guests. The guests are just a foil. They find themselves reduced to sitting there and listening to him and all they can do is nod and say, 'hmm...', 'wow', etc. wondering why they are there, lol! The guy loves to hear himself talk about his, to him, grand life as a 'medical doctor;, which fact he manages to insert every once in a while, lest someone should forget or not know.
I am so tempted to say, 'Typical' so and so, because it's the truth, but I resist, in the interest of political correctness.
'I put them (dumbell and kettlebell, fyi) down, and I am rewardeddd ... with my beeauthiful cup of haughtt coffai ..'
Looks like his modus operandi is to come prepared with a bunch of random research on a wishy-washy topic (for this episode he seems to have alighted on what somebody had probably said about motivation - something like, 'You don't need motivation - simply go ahead and do it in your pyjamas') and vomit it all out before his poor guest of the day.
He mentions his 'assistant' and his wife in the same breath, and of course, their lives revolve around him.
    Ridiculous person! 😂
But then, even a narcissist has his uses. He does put out useful info himself or through his guests. So, hey, a grudging 👍from me, too.
