    JD, after filing for divorce from this club and then reconciling more times than I can count, I'm wary of fully embracing this club for fear they'll pull the rug out from under me again. Yet, I haven't been this optimistic since our 17-game winning streak.
    We're firing on all cylinders DESPITE Goldy and Arenado's vanishing act and w/ holes all over our line-up - poorly constructed to begin w/. Clearly, something's flipped, psychologically, in the clubhouse.
    You're spot on re: Luis Robert. There's no way we tear down our prospect list in the hopes of catching fire w/ Robert, esp. w/ Nootbaar and Edman yet to resurface.
    Here's hoping Liberatore's masterpiece last night is legit. It's possible (knock wood) we've finally solved the Matz issue once and for all. Hope springs eternal!

    Miles Mikolas' total salary this year is $17,666,667. If he starts 32 games, that comes to $552,083 per game. Tonight he gave up 12 hits and 9 earned runs for a total of 21. Therefore, he was paid $26,289 for each hit and run he gave up (let's say the 1 strikeout and 1 walk cancel each other out). Nobody can say he doesn't have a brilliant agent.

We'revwinning games with him in the lineup. So .... No, to Roberts, we don't need outfielders and we don't want to rock the boat with wrong chemistry. Edman will actually be excess right now, the way the outfield is playing. Walker is the guy we need to offer for a front line pitcher like Crochet, not bring in another outfielder.

    JD, Matthew is finally starting to figure it out. He's going to be a good one. We also have several up and coming pitchers in the minor leagues.
    Why trade for anyone?
    I hate to say this but I think the best trades the Cardinals could make would be to trade Nolan Arenado and Paul Goldshmidt to the Yankees and/or the Dodgers.
    Both of them deserve a chance to play in the playoffs and possibly the World Series. The potential haul that the Cardinals could get in young players would be the best reason to trade them now.
    If you look at the last 6 weeks, the Cardinals are making a run for 1st place and Arenado and Goldshmidt are not the ones that are making it happen.
    Let Burly play first and Donovan play third. Then bring up the best 2 hitters from the minor leagues or 2 out of the trades for Nado and Goldy.
    Also trade Carlson.
    Remember, the owner is still Mr Stingy. 😂

    • @aeschafer1
      @aeschafer1 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      The cardinals are not getting a haul of players from either Goldschmidt or Arenado. Neither have much at all the the way of trade value anymore. I agree that dealing Nolan would be a good idea, but only to get his contact off the books. You're not getting much of anything in return.

    • @rayrussell6258
      @rayrussell6258 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I don't see much there in return from either of those teams, due to ages of our two (why do you think the Dodgers would want anyone just hanging around not playing to replace Freeman!!!! (or even Muncy when he returns), the Yankees need pitching like we do, not hitters or defense, and yes Goldy and Arenado ARE making things happen. Goldy's batting average is up 40 points during this winning stretch, with a bunch of rbi's. Arenado has been platinum on defense for about 2 weeks. We don't need anything but pitchers, our team chemistry is the best it's been for two years. Now is not going to be the time to make trades, except with minor league prospects we don't need (like Walker) to get pitching from teams that are not going to be in the playoffs.

      Now, add insult to injury with a sprained ankle.
      I'm not at all impressed with Noot's bat.

    • @aeschafer1
      @aeschafer1 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I find it fascinating that you're trying to imply the cardinals didn't try hard enough this off-season and clearly would be better off if they had, then list three pitchers, two of whom would be disasters, either because they're out for the year (Bieber, elbow), or have just been garbage (Montgomery, 5.71 era). Cease has been very good, yes, but if you're going to low key call out the front office for not making more moves, that's a terrible last to use for that purpose.

    I will pass on Robert. Noot will be back in center. Siani for D late in the game. Are offence could really be good. Need a starter 1 or 2 to match up with Gray. Liberatore!!awsome start!👏👏👍 spotting up with that slider👍👏 with control and more use! He really can attack the righties now inside or out. This could be a game changer for a starting spot..need consistancy with him. Im seeing a change with Paul G barreling the ball up often hopefully hes locked in with consistency. They had Lopez on the ropes and hes a great pitcher ..very positive..let go of my Gallegos looked ok. That second game of the DH was awsome with 2out hits! Donny Burly doing the job. I WOULD NOT put Willson is the 3slot yet after no live pitching and coming back with a broken arm maybe the 6th slot for now. Thanks JD for the pod👏👍⚾️🏆

    If the plan in the offseason is to let Goldschmidt walk with the intent on playing Walker as the primary at 1B moving forward, then this makes sense…If the idea is to bring back Goldschmidt or toy with the idea of Contreras splitting time at the spot so Herrera gets more time behind the plate, then Walker has to play somewhere at some point unless he’s part of the package.
    Cardinals already have a looming OF logjam problem on the horizon and this just further complicates it unless the team is going to clear out depth and start to solidify positions for people.
    I’d much rather they target a number 2 caliber starter to slot behind Sonny Gray and maybe another bullpen arm than adding another OF’er….

      Fact is , you have a washed up 3rd baseman , making like a blind squirrel hoping a nut hits his bat, he can still make great plays, but then he muffs the easy ones too often.
      Have 3 catchers, none of who can throw a runner out stealing bases.
      A 1st baseman , that's nearing his retirement from baseball.
      A manager that is scared to leave a starte
      in beyond 85 pitches unless he's getting hammered .
      Then he'll let him go 94 pitches and give 10ER's up.
      You have only 2 regular position guys worthy of an allstar selection

    So this _____ allows his starter to give up 10 ER over 4 innings.
    But pulls Liberatore at 85 pitches yesterday when he was having probably his best outing ever.
    And pulls Gray after 1 solo HR at i believe 80pitches .
    Pulls Lynn also recently, at 85 and the Lynn can give ya 8 innings and a 100 pitches.

      @roballen8431 that's what other teams want, and it if your trying to win now you treading water if your trading talent from the roster unless you have an abundance of something but you have to find the right trade partner , it's a two way street , we aren't dictating the transaction when you are coming from a buyers perspective and more times than not prospects don't pan out it seems like they do but more times than not they fizzle and the team that receives the proven major league talent wins out on the production side , and prospects are inflated by the more successful organizations for this purpose right now, so unless your going to games in Springfield or Memphis, Peoria, jersey or Florida , we don't know how good or what the upside is or the ceiling is on most of these prospects are and in baseball so much more than physical talent comes into play ,most of these guys crap out bec ause of how much you fail in the and how does a player handle that ,jordan walker has struggled with that and he's full of talent but it might not be enough

      Really..teams playing well and that's where your minds at? That's some straight up Cubby mindset, I guess want to blow the team up too and get some fat guys with shorts and flip flops with a keg at every base and hope Jeff fixes it . Maybe he teach our guys trash can Morse code ,that will help

    What kind of a manager takes guys out when pitching great , at 75 to 85 pitches.
    Then like tonight leaves Mikolas in to give 9 or 10 runs up over 4 innings.
    I hate this guy. I hate the thought of wasting my time tuning in only for this fraud to make a mockery of everyone's time watching.

    No! Why does everyone want white Sox players, they’re bad for a reason, players!
