Personal opinion is the Mariners don’t need another strikeout heavy hitter in the lineup. They need a guy more like Guerrero that will make contact, work pitch counts, get on base and can hit for power.. another strikeout guy in that lineup doesn’t help them that much.
I know it is a hot take, but I don’t really want Robert. He is very iffy with his health and he hit a bunch of home runs this series, but his only hits were the home runs. And I would say he is super good at a premium position defensively, but that doesn’t help the M’s with Julio in center already and it makes the cost more regardless.
I get the worry here, I'm kind of worried myself about it. However... the whole "doesn't bring as much value in the field" thing is highly overblown in my opinion. Robert in CF is a huge part of the reason he has been injured so much early on in his career and you are basically getting him off of having to cover so much ground while still upgrading the outfield defense by a wide margin. Robert, Julio, Raley left to right or vice versa is not just elite, it's unmatched OF coverage and you would have it for years to come. Now your pitchers become even better than they were. And as far as batting goes, he is still finding his stride cause he's just now getting healthy. Plus you have to factor in the pitching in Seattle is some of the best in the league and allows less hits than average. We pitched around him all series and he still bombed 3. Who's doing that on our roster right now?
I want him plenty, I just want our farm more. We don't need A bat, we need several. He is not the missing piece. We have a very good farm system that we wont be able to restock. Roberts is not Castillo, he is not Soto.
"Part of the Ship, part of the Crew" I'm out on Roberts. The moment he gets into an M's uniform. He gets injured because that's our organization's luck. lol
I feel that, but I just don't think we are one bat away. It all depends on the deal. If we only give up one top ten prospect Im all about it. If the WS actually want a Soto-deal, Robert is just not even close to as good as Soto. I dont want to overpay and give up a bunch of cheap impact players for a maybe-healthy guy. We need the cheap good players, cause our owners won't spend.
1 healthy season am I correct? We don’t need a body to take up a spot on the IL. And we’d be giving up a lot to get a guy that cannot stay healthy. I’d be pissed if they gave up a ton of
Nah, postseason pitching will destroy the M’s strikeout heavy offense. Need someone in the lineup that can be more of a grinder and work the pitch count up and get on base. Guerrero is more fitting in my opinion.
You’re absolutely right. It’s also not guaranteed Robert gets traded. Reports say they want a bigger package than SD gave up for Soto a few years ago… so, the White Sox GM will probably need to lower his asking price. I’m just saying Guerrero or a similar low strikeout hitter is the type of hitter they need in that lineup. If they can work a deal for Robert of course he’s a great addition also.
I believe the questions come from a place of relativity. Of course Alonso is better than France 1-to-1, but Alonso has to be be other worldly for the rest of the year for to you win a trade that essentially swaps a year + of France for 2 months of Alonso. Based on the past couple of years, it seems batters take a while to settle in here, so it's a fair question to ask "how much are we really improving here"
I'm looking for bats who don't require 2 of the top 5 prospects. I only trade two of them if I'm getting a leverage reliever too. That's what I think at the moment anyways.
Love the show. With so much youth readying to ascend; Young Emerson Montes Ford Farmelo etc… could management be looking to move the AAA talent rather than the single & double A guys? For example if Young Emerson Peete or Celestin are to make an opening day roster eventually Bliss will be moved anyways. The same is true for Farmelo Rodriguez & Montes, Marlowe & Clase would be expendable. What price could be had for trading Marlowe, Bliss, Clase, and Locklear this year?
I would like to see an trade with the White Sox. Mariners get Eloy Jimenez(Sox pick up his contract) and Jario Iriarte for Lazaro Montes. What the Mariners could be catching lightning in an bottle with Jimenez and you get an could pitching prospect back for an good young hitter that will be an DH.
Give the Angels nothing for their rentals. Leave them in pergatory. We have Polo coming back soon and while he hasn't been good so far, I anticipate him getting going in the second half. Also Garver has heated up (and he is typically a second-half and postseason monster). Robert, Arozarena or Jazz would cost the most but also have the most impact and be around for multiple years.
Julio is really a right fielder so get a center fielder but don't trade Ford. He's the ONLY catcher in the pipeline and Cal is gone, probably, as soon as he becomes a free agent.
What are you talking about? Julio’s a plus defensive center fielder. By like every metric, too. DRS, UZR, and OAA all have him as a plus fielder in center this year. He’s not “really a right fielder”, he’s a good center fielder.

Unfortunately, he is probably the best hitter available at the deadline so I don't see them trading for anyone else.
Canzone has been terrible though, and Robert at least is an above average hitter when healthy

Where can we leave a trade for future consideration? Thanks, and love the show
I would take the Robert Jr trade, it's risky, but this is the year to go all in. I don't wanna wait another 23 years.

Would the phillies trade bohm, sosa, and or strahm? I think any of those guys would help win games and perry hill could fix bohm just like he did JP

Rooker Miller would be a good trade if we can pull it off
Bryce miller? Tf u talking about
He’s talking about miller the closer for the a’s
Rooker and Adams is far more likely
How about Ryan Bliss and Jhonathan Diaz for Tanner Scott
Fire servais please!!
The fraley one is a way over pay jake fraley not even that good
Factual
We get robert and crochet we win the world series

The problem is there is no other OF bat available close to Robert, and OF bat is the biggest need.

Hoooorible trade. Just terrible
We aren’t trading montes
Montes is not being traded
Instead of trading for 1 bat let's trade to fill the actual 3 holes in our offense
2nd base, Corner OF, And Dh
With rengifo,ward,and rooker

Haniger is hitting second tonight wtf Scott…
Look at his numbers against Heaney
Fair I’m just wary about old dude with his injury history in the lineup night after night but hey they know match ups better than I do 🤷🏼♂️

?? He will be a perennial gold glove contender in center every year he’s healthy until his athletic prime is decline 😂
Julio USED to be a right fielder, before he blossomed and turned himself into an elite defender. He covers as much ground as anybody in the game.
