    This guy knows what he is talking about. His fix worked perfectly on my 2016 ford F150 platinum. Thank you for this video. I hate these ford 2 piece lug nuts. What a joke they are. Ford should be embarrassed to put these lame parts on their vehicles. Replacing mine immediately with the normal 1 piece design. Thanks again for this video.

    You’re a lifesaver. I wasn’t looking forward to peeling those suckers off by hand while they were still on the vehicle. I picked up a 29mm Milwaukee hole dozer with arbor for $14 from Hime Depot. Removed the pilot bit and removed the first cap in 30 seconds.

    Brother, I went to Harbor freight and bought the hole saw bit and it was very HELPFUL. I did the rear tires with a hammer and flathead screwdriver and pliers and it was an annoying, frustrating pain in the butt. Saw your video and went for it and I did both front tires in less than 20 mins. Thank you for this hack. Awesome Job

    Genius, the hole saw works perfect. I took off all 8 out shells on one wheel in about 2 minutes. I suggest you replace all the lug nuts now before you have a flat on the side of the road. Its so much easier to remove and replace them in your driveway that it is on the side of the road. I replaced them on my F-350 today. I bought Gorilla lug nuts to replace them with. $160 for all 32. Depending on your vehicle you can also look at McGard and Dorman for new lug nuts. Just make sure you don't reuse the ones with the cladding on them. Just remember that the pilot bit in the middle has to be pulled back so that none of it protrudes inside the hole saw. Thank you. THANK YOU!

    • @FastFixYouTube
      @FastFixYouTube  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hello. Awesome, I’m glad this video helped! Yes, the cladding Lugnuts are just about the worst design for any individual that has to deal with weather. Then again, not even just the weather, but rotating the tires will eventually bloat and strip these, and they’ll have to be replaced at some point. perhaps planned obsolescence by the manufacturer? Hoping that we will reuse their terribly designed Lugnuts. Good suggestions on alternatives! Thanks for such good advice I appreciate it!

    UPDATE: We tried using a 1 inch Milwaukee Hole Dozer Bi-Metal hole saw (Milwaukee Model # 49-56-9662, Home Depot Internet # 202327732) instead of the 1-1/8 inch and the caps came off in under 30 seconds per tire. Just did another Ford and the whole operation took about 10 minutes for all four tires. I am carrying this in my emergency kit in case I ever come across a stranded Ford owner! Also, used an 18mm socket to remove the underlying steel lug nut and 19mm to put the new lug nuts on (@100 ft/lbs)
    Wow, this worked B-E-A-UTIFUALLY. I tried other techniques on my 2017 Ford Escape and they were tons of work for poor results. I replaced 16 lug nuts in less than an hour (the other four took me close to an hour with the other techniques and scratched the rims a little and destroyed a socket. Thank you Mr. Fast Fix!

    You just saved me. I went to take off the driver's side wheel for the first time on my new to me 2015 F150 and one of the nuts just kept spinning. Before I saw anything online I was thinking that he head part was spinning and not the rest. Sure enough that was the case. I saw where some others use a chisel but this seemed much easier and it was. I just had to take a trip to Lowes since my Harbor Freight hole saw was demolished by the lugnut and barely left a scratch

    I used to chisel them off. Took about 20 minutes per nut. I was doing brakes on Focus with literally all 10 front lug nuts having the issue. What would have taken me probably 3 hours took me 5 minutes. I don't normally give praise to youtubers but I owe you one. Ironically, I had a set of hole saws already but of course, the size I needed, I had to go buy. ha.

    Dude, you honestly saved me so much time. My magnums lugs were like this, and the buldge was so bad that i couldnt just chisel and break them, i had to like flower the whole cover enough to get the right socket on. This way is seriously miles better. Chrysler, ford, and anyone else that made these lugs... not cool

      Completely agree! I have no idea how these lugs passed quality control. I’m sure this happens to everyone eventually. Even without freezing temperatures, simply removing the lugs causes damage to the cap and they loose their edge. Thanks for the comment and I’m glad this helped!

    As someone who does road side assistance and has encountered this situation more than once this is absolutely genius. More than once ive had to take a flat head screw driver and hammer it through the middle of the cap and then hammer the sides of the caps off just enough to be able to get the lugs off. Usually takes around 60 mins per tire. Such a pain in the ass I usually tell em I cant do it if they are rude etc. Regardless I always explain about ford/chryslers stupid lug nut cap design and tell them to get REAL lug nuts put on asap!! I will be purchasing one of these metal bit sets and using them from now on if need be. Ive changed thousands of tires and these are the absolute WORST. Literally to save ford pennies per wheel and make them $$$$$ vs the consumers safety (changing a flat on the highway with these on their wheel!)

But I keep some extra tools in my car so I found the socket that fit the best. Go to turn it and slip. Try another one...slip. immediately Rounded 2 off and barley even put any pressure. Wound up having to get it towed all the way home because some brilliant engineer chose to use these cheap, brittle, plastic material covered lug nuts on their vehicles. So you replace your oem lug nut with some random cheapo ebay one?? Your wheel will probably fly off one day with those cheap lug nuts snapping... Always buy tested brand.... Not some random ebay one that you can't even tell if it a single piece or capped because of poor machining... 🤦‍♂️

      I have zero worries the lug nuts will break and fly off. The price was comparable with prices at the auto parts store. I read through reviews and all were good. And they are not capped. It was tricky to tell, but after further inspection and from directly comparing to a called lug, these are indeed solid as can be. Thanks for the comment 👍
