Erm what about the XJ-S! Now I know things got of to a dodgy start because the car was misunderstood, but a 21 year production run that outsold the e-type and help save Jaguar in the 1980s. I think it’s about time the XJ-S was remembered with rather more affection than it receives.
No Jaguar list is complete without the X300/X308 XJ. One of the most unique and stunning cars ever made. Sleek, elegant and simply gorgeous. It looks like nothing else on the road and it drives incredibly well. A true automotive masterpiece!
That V12 thing is a boat anchor for a garbage scow. In Ft Huachucha Az in c.1963-65 was an SS100 Jag. Officers quarters housing. In 1966 in Los Altos around the corner from me was beautiful XKC, it was in R&T. In 1970 I drove a 1965 XKE thru Big Sur. Some little car got on my butt, I thought it was a 356 I had passed earlier. It was sunset, for maybe 30 miles we screamed the down twisty part Hwy1. He would get close going into turns but lose coming out .... The brakes on the E gave up and a P1800 went by!
Okay, I haven't read all of the comments but two very special, lovely Jaguars you left out are - firstly my late Mum's favorite, a 19600 Mk 9 Saloon and secondly, MY favorite, the subsequent (after the Mk 10), the 420G Saloon. Both are lovely cars, space, pace and grace, there's just something about these cars that captures me. I've driven a collection of Mk Vs in my younger days and enjoyed them immensely, gently cruising around and so on, but the 420G Saloon is definitely my personal favorite.
'59 Mk1 3.4L, 4 spd OD, 1st car I ever drove & unforgettable. '59.5 XK150 3.8S OTS, either could pull from 25MPH in 4th then shift OD @100, w/o a stutter. The 5 others I've owned didn't disappoint either, E-Types SType & XKR
I am lucky enough to have the XFR, saloon, not sportbrake. That 5l s/c V8 is in a league of its own. Big gentle pussycat when you want it be, and when you dont, it is insane.
@@funkysquirrel3120 I remember when they were planning to offer with the v12 and when they pulled back to the v6 the pre-orders were canceled by the truck load. Buyers wanted the 12 and the music it makes. I think they would have sold with a v8, but much like the Ford GT some customers got turn off by the sound of the v6. Personally I like the sound of the SC v6 and loved the sound of the inline 6 in my XKE. The 220 was well balanced and if offered to today's market would probably sell well enough especially with the advancement in engine tech.
The Ill-fated XJ 13 definitely has a place in the list. Gorgeous❣️And talk about rarity... Otherwise an XJC 12 with deleted Vinyl roof ticks all the boxes ☑️
@@ЯШоколадка-р5ц It's about the visual purity of a sleek sports car, that was way ahead of anything else at the time, in terms of aesthetics. Try to imagine the impact it had on people in 1961. The technology under the bonnet is now old, for sure, but there is nothing else that looks like this car. It is truly iconic.
How you can have a top 8 and miss the D Type, i'm not sure. That thing was thunderous to behold and beautiful to gaze upon. I'd also suggest you chose the least likeable generation of XJR.
Chinese and Indian company Ford internals assembled in UK at a twice the price of a mustang. Prior to 1997 there were proper Jaguars. XK120, MK10, XJ6, XJS V12, XJ12.
XK8 X100 has to be in it first to use the new v8 which is still in use, beautiful looking sleek body and more importantly it saved Jaguar from bankruptcy and is better looking and faster than the DB7 that uses the same chassis.
I would have taken both the XE-SV & the XJR off this list, and added the XK-SS & S-Type (1950's Mk1 with 3.4L). Literally any S-Type from 1955-1967 with the 3.4 or 3.8 over the XJR. Since the C & D Types were race cars and not intended for the street any more than the XE-SV, none of those 3 should be here either, just road going Jaguars.
The e type that everyone could buy from a dealer would not achieve 150 mph. The only e type that could was a highly tuned factory special. This is a clever bit of marketing spin.
Where’s the XJ15? Sure it was in combination with TWR but it still was a Jag. (I’m betting that 99% of people here have never heard or know of it, check it out)
Had me until XFR-S and beyond… meh…. Even the F-Type put me on the fence, though I had to give kudos to the design which is a fabulous reimagining of the E-Type; that said, it should’ve only been manufactured with a proper manual transmission. To call any automatic transmission with their silly paddles (you’re not a Formula One driver, give it up) a “sports car”, is a travesty. And enough with the digitally produced exhaust noise loud enough to wake up polar bears in Antarctica…. that’s you too lil peepee pick-up-truck owner… 😁
Yawn! another arm chair expert pouring water on the XJ220. Sorry mate - I owned one for 10 years and it is everything Jaguar wanted it to be and so much more. You can keep your modern day supercars all electronic aids and PAS. a XJ220 once driven is seldom forgotten
I wish someone would re-mod an XJ220, and chop about 6 inches off that rear. It's such a pretty car, but that loooong rear overhang just ruins it for me. Maybe when I get that lottery win....
OK, how many As are there in Jaaaag?
If we are going by way of Jeremy Clarkson, probably a million As
The jag XE has been very underrated especially here in the states. One of the best well-packaged and looking cars for a reasonable price.
The XJ220 is the sleekest car ever designed! Just bad timing when it was released!
In my book - the XKJ12C should have been on the list…
With the vinyl top removed… one of the best looking, best performing GT cars built.

Expected to see the early 2000s XKR in here, and I did, but not the way I expected. That was the coolest modern Jag, hands down.
I had a stunning XKR softop 380 bhp and adaptive suspension etc way more than you need to have a superb driving experience on UK roads. Loved it.
In truth there shouldn't be an elite list as they are all special
The Brand is Elite
I now own a 2016 jaguar xj, with the big screaming v8. Couldn't be more happy.
For me it's the X308 XJR from the turn of the millenium, the last classic looking XJ with enough performance but not too much.
I'd definitely have added the XKR to the list. Love it to bits... Also, would've added the MK 2 and the XJR-15 instead of those Project things...

I love my Jag!)
Great video.
Just one question, where was the XKSS?
S type R, XKR 5.0, 2017+ XJR, XJ220, and XJR15 are my favs
Surely the Mk2 should be here!
Modern Jag V8 engines sound so sweet
Does the JaguarSport XJR 15 count? honorable mention :D
I preferred (and owned) the XKR 100. For nearly 20 years.
I've had an XKE roadster, an XKRS and now looking for an F TYPE. Would love to have a XK120 but they out reach my pocketbook.
lucky man though!
You can buy mine if you’re interested.
A 59-67 Mark II should be on this list somewhere that was a mean sedan...
iI maybe in the minority but i love the E type series 3.
Literally shocked that the XKSS isn't in this
I’d throw a 3.4 MK1 on the list, after all, it is the grandfather of all modern super saloons!
Oh yes!
Harry Metcalf has a Project 7 and a Project 8....luck geezer.
How was the mk2 3.8S not in there? It was as defining of its era as the e type was
I think you’re gonna need a longer list!
If I had coin, the XJ220 would be sitting in my garage next to the XJ13. ;-)
No Mark 2?
I was thinking the same thing!

Saw a V12 xj220 at donington park before. Looked mega. Chassis 001 according to a engraving on the fuel cap
Not possible since it only came with the v6
@@jorgendahl5024 There were protypes built with a v12, but would never have been sold to public. If true it must have been a factory heritage car.

My mark 2 was amazing for its day
E-Type is the most beautiful car ever made.
Why?

In my controversial opinion the Jaguar XJ-S is the most underrated car ever!
I have an xfrs. It’s a great car.
Have a feeling that the person who wrote this script, knows very little about cars 🚗
I absolutely love my F-Type R…
XJR-15 !
My neighbour had one in bordeaux red. Always loved the shape of that thing and the V6 didn‘t sound that bad. Turbo spool was great 👌🙌

The 97-03 XJ8 is the last real Jag!
xk120, Mk VIII, XKE series 1, Mk II, series 1 Xj6, XJS, x305 6.0 v12, x300 supercharged

exactly
I would add the xj 13

Xf Supercharged Fully loaded
Only 300 x2 sv project 8 have been made and I’ve seen 2 in a dealership

F-Type R!😁🛠️

XJ Series 3 range.
