    Great video, CB! I have a Primeweld MIG-285 and love it. A few months ago Primeweld came out with a TIG-325, which I’ve only heard good things about. You are correct about the super customer service with Primeweld. Some of the best I’ve ever experienced. They were easier to deal with than Miller was on My Multimatic 215, which they basically rebuilt with a new main circuit board and wind tunnel. They did me right but it took nearly a month to get it repaired and back to me. Thanks for sharing your honest experiences with PW and AC.

    280V is actually high which is 16%. 240V service from your utility into a dwelling normally maxes at +5% (252V). As much as I want to blame the Arccaptain, the issue in my opinion in this case is the poor regulated output of the Trailbalzer. A genset regulates the voltage by adjusting the voltage in the stator coil rather and the output voltage directly. I checked the schematic of the Trailbrazer 302 and nothing immediately sticks out to check. I also checked the manual for the 240V tolerance and it’s not specified. Is it worth asking Miller if the large voltage swings are normal for a Trailblazer? Since both your Trailblazers do I guess it is.
    On your friend going through gearboxes faster than a teenager goes through tissues, the gearbox company needs to revise the base with a tapered design. Or the carwash machine company needs to add a bottom arm because it looks like the gearboxes boxes are under a huge amount of side torque. Being a keyboard warrior I know 😉

    It seems to me that Arc Captain might work with you to develop a voltage regulator to make their machine work on your device.

    I will tell you another use for bees wax along time ago when I was a machinist we would use it for drill wax before drilling with the drill going stick the drill in the wax and while you are drilling the wax will melt and work just as well as oil.

    CB, I’m not familiar with the prime weld or the arc captain ,on my welders, I can turn the frequency up, I would weld that at about 200 hertz,If you can turn your frequency up, you’ll put a lot less heat into the part, Also a 25/75 mix of argon and helium really helps you weld aluminum much faster and it’ll come up to temperature much quicker. 👍

    Great video CB- Really appreciated your explanation of the issue; at that voltage, it's a Trailblazer problem and not ArcCaptain.
    While I generally prefer TIG, (& it was mentioned by someone else) you could also MIG 200 the aluminum mobile.
    You should still give 4943 a chance on the cast....the increase in strength is notable.

    Also, I ran my first set up with a generator and did a lot of research. Inverter welders either require an inverter generator or a boatload of power. Usually, you will need double the watts of whatever you're running if you're using a regular generator. The average running watts for a welder is 6000, so i bought a 13000 watt gen and had zero issues running two different inverter welders (primeweld mig 180 and HF 80 amp arc) and a Hynade inverter plasma. I think most generator/welders might do anout 9000 peak watts and if that's not clean, it won't carry an inverter welder.... for long. Some people say they have no problems with smaller generators but two months later they're wondering why the inverter is fried. Inverters are lightweight and great, but they have to have soooo much protection that's what takes up most of the circuit board. I hope some of this made sense.

      Nothing wrong with it…brushes are in spec and all components working correctly…nothing can be done that would guarantee that the ARCCAPTAIN would run off of it.
      I got an email back from Miller about it and they have ran into this with many of the budget priced inverter machines…nothing can be done that will guarantee that you can run a budget price inverter off of the 240V outlet on a Trailblazer 302…no matter how you adjust anything

    That serial number did not come up.
    I believe the numbers should be between 61 and 62.5 Hz or 3675 and 3750 rpm’s.
    Which engine do you have?
    It tells in the manual how to set the Hz or rpm’s.

    • @NBSWELDING
      @NBSWELDING  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Kohler engine
      And honestly I wouldn't try to adjust it...both my Trailblazers weld great and they both are capable of running my entire building as a generator....used them many times to run the whole place when power went out...Tina is gonna email Miller and see if we get an answer from them but I doubt I'll try to adjust anything.
      If I need to take a TIG welder somewhere and run it off the Trailblazer I know I can use the Primeweld.

    • @kelleypack1000
      @kelleypack1000 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I wouldn’t adjust it unless the Hz was way out of spec, maybe miller will know something.
      I checked my bobcat yesterday and it’s running 62.5 hz and 242 volts, I didn’t see a spike but didn’t throw a big load on it, just checked from idle to weld speed.

    Man, I look forward to your videos because i learn at least 5 lessons per video. I use a yellow paint marker from HF and it's ok, but i always scribe over whatever I'm using with my razor blade knife. I don't normally cut anything with the tip of my knife so it works out. I noticed you have a Kobalt bucket bag.. i love those things! I have two buckets set up as what i call "fvckit buckets", so when i have a small job that doesn't require the trailer, i just grab the buckets and say: "fvckit, let's go".😂 Aluminum is great for trailers and truck beds but when it comes to friction and heat, I'm not a fan.

      I'm remodeling a house I own in Virginia also so that bag & bucket got alot of miles on them from the 13 trips I've made over the mountains to work on that house...no telling when I'll get that done

    I seem to remember someone cooked his Tig torch on his Prime weld because the torch was only rated for 150 amps on a 225 amp machine and Prime weld told you to bad you fried it to go to their web site and buy a new one … you seem to have completely forgiven them for selling you a machine with an under rated torch … that would have been the end of Prime weld for me… your a better man than me 😊

    • @NBSWELDING

      Dunno...the CK17 torch they put on the 225X is a good torch...I was pissed about it being underrated for the machine but for 99.9% of what people are gonna use the 225X for it probably is the best choice....the bigger WP26 torch that is rated higher is really heavy and cumbersome in comparison to that CK17....like another guy said "A 26 torch feels like your holding a claw hammer"
      Yea...I forgive Primeweld...they are a great company with great customer service....ARCCAPTAIN is too...and we are seeing they each have some advantages and disadvantages
