Awesome video, definitely given me ideas for getting wires to roof. One point, running wires across the back can be done quite easy by going up and pulling the roof trim down a bit. Just a case of pulling the seal back a little and pulling trim down. Saves unbolting all of that.
Good info. I used to work as an electrician building emergency vehicles (police fire ambulance)and tradie vans, utes and some campervan stuff. We used to drill holes and install grommet or glands. Whilst that is definitely an effective way to get cables through the body of a car its never been something i would want to do to my own car. Sika flex 521 UV is an awesome product we used to use for all sealing of penetrations. Either white or black depending on the application. Use metholated spirits or any form of strong alcohol for working with silicone of sika flex. Dip your finger in alcohol and silicones etc wont stick to you so you can get a super tidy finish Its probably excessive on a personal car but we used to run dual 240 and 12v set ups in certain emergency vehicles, mostly vehicles that had lots of communications equipment in them. This was done through a Marechal power point installed on the exterior of the vehicle that had a contact that you run through the ignition so the vehicle couldn't when it was plugged in to 240v . For any powered site camping whilst in more urban parts of Australia I've always thought it would be cool to be able to plug in, charge all the batteries plus run everything off of main power rather than the inverter. Admittedly ive never seen anyone go that crazy on a touring rig, maybe ill be the first haha
Great video - answered all questions and provided good examples. This allows me to mount a root top antenna with minimal effect on the vehicle. Thank you!
