    Yes! That abalone pen is absolute perfection! Love all the others and an Estie is my next “reward” pen. So glad you put out these videos! Abalone and the one where you created the color palette are my favorites. 😍

      I had been looking at Abalone for a while and I knew it had been out of stock so when I saw Zodiac had it, I jumped on the chance. And thanks for the feedback on my custom blank - I was really nervous about this one!

    Thanks for sharing Karyna! I figured you would have the Laban Rosa and an Esterbrook Estie in there. It’s always interesting seeing how people’s preferences are different. I’ve pared down some this year but my tastes are still changing and evolving!

      I totally agree - our tastes are always changing and evolving. I don't know if my selections would have been the same this time last year since I was still so new to the hobby (I still feel new - just under two years in!).

    Like you Karyna, I would definitely repurchase my Just Turnings pens, not just because they are beautiful bespoke pens but dealing with Stephen and Michelle makes the buying experience such a pleasurable one. I think I would definitely want to repurchase an Esterbrook Estie with a medium nib, I love my Pilot Decimo, a Sailor PGS with a medium nib and possibly a Lamy Al Star because I love that their nibs are interchangeable hence giving you one pen but with different nib options and give you different writing experiences. I think I would also want my Pelikan M400 Tortoise in there too, its just such a beautiful pen to write with. Thank you for sharing this, its interesting to hear what other pen enthusiasts gravitate to and why :) Have a lovely day!

      You are so right about JustTurnings - these won't be my last pens with them and am thinking of asking Stephen and Michelle to do a custom blank! Thank you for sharing your choices of what you would repurchase - you have a gorgeous collection and I'm sure it would have been difficult to choose!

    I didn't realize that they made the blank to your specifications. That is so amazing and it turnt (LOL, pun intended) out so well! I have been inspired by your video to think about my picks and I find it really hard to choose. I find that many of the ones I wouldn't repurchase were instrumental in figuring out what I like and what I don't like ... hm. We'll see.

    • @KarynaLovesToPlan
      @KarynaLovesToPlan  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, completely custom blank for me! I went to Tim with colours I wanted and he let me choose the exact pink as well as amounts of each colour.
      As for my picks - I based it on where I am today with my collection, knowing what I know now. Not on if I were to start completely over again, without the knowledge I have today. Because I know if I started over again, there are pens I would repurchase that are not on this list because those pens helped shape my experiences.

    1. That's a beautiful selection. Laban for the win.
    2. I would repurchase my Sailor Pro Gears (full size) and my full set of Pilot Parallels. Then I would buy MORE Pro Gears till I had ever nib size. I know what I like, and what is most useful to me.

    I LOVE my Pilot VP, but also love your Gunmetal Gray one; I think the color is just beautiful. I would purchase another Pilot VP if I had the funds, as well as my Pilot E95s. I would also again purchase my Pineider Full Metal Jacket with the medium steel nib; my Esterbrook Oversized with the medium nib (they were out of the Joutnaler nibs); my tiny Pelikan M120 or 140 (?) with a broad nib; and my Kaweco pens; I haven’t yet had a bad Kaweco pen! I would purchase two of my three Benu pens, just not the Sceptor pen because of its size as it doesn’t fit in any of my pen cases. I loved seeing your pens!

    Hi Karyna! How did you get into primary manipulation/turned pens? And also how to get your nibs to be custom ground? I’m interested in getting a new fountain pen with these things but have no idea how to do it or where to start.
    Would you consider doing a video educating us newbies on your tips and tricks? And recommendations on who the best experts are to go to for particular things.

    • @KarynaLovesToPlan
      @KarynaLovesToPlan  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Great questions! My first hand turned pen was by Ranga, from Peyton Street Pens. Which were relatively inexpensive. From there, I discovered a lot of smaller shops for hand turned pens, mostly on Instagram. My first primary manipulation was from Pens By Casey. There are so many great pen turners on Instagram - a few are: PensByCasey, Hogtown Pens, TurntPenCo, ZodiacPenCo, JustTurnings, LondonPenCo, to name a few.
      My first ever custom grind was from Dan of Nibsmith.com, who ground my Pelikan M605 for me. I then discovered Mark Bacas of NibGrinder who did a couple of grinds as well. I discovered them mostly via Instagram and TH-cam but pen shows are the best place to try out different nibs and get nibs ground.
      This is a video I could consider doing!

    I have the Pelikan M600 in the violet and white color and I absolutely love it. 10/10, would buy again. I have the stock fine nib and have played with the idea of getting a custom grind, but I'm a bit skittish with my gold nibs because they're so expensive to replace if the grind doesn't turn out like I'd originally hoped.

    • @KarynaLovesToPlan
      @KarynaLovesToPlan  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I was afraid of custom grinds, too. I do recommend going to a pen show to actually get a pen done in person so that the nibmeister can see how you hold your pen, how you write, and you can give instant feedback on how you feel about the grind!

  • @coletteadcock
    @coletteadcock ปีที่แล้ว

    I’m very new! I’m up to 7!! I think I do have a problem 🥴 I love all your pens!!💕🙈😱
    Can you talk about where you get nibs modified? And prices? It would have to be a high end pen, right ? What is the reason, instead of ordering a new nib?

    • @KarynaLovesToPlan
      @KarynaLovesToPlan  ปีที่แล้ว

      A nib grind is VERY different from just purchasing a new nib. Replacement nibs come in extra fine, fine, medium, broad, stub. Nib grinds mean that extra work is done to change the shape of the tipping material on the nib. You can look up nibmeisters on Instagram - there are a few. Nibtailor, PenRealm, Custom Nib Factory, Nibgrinder, etc. Prices can vary depending on the type of grind. And you can do any type of nib - steel or gold.
