  • THEY TASTE JUST LIKE POTATO CHIPS! Seriously - these dehydrated zucchini chips taste just like Lays! You'll be switching out those unhealthy snacks for these awesome ones!
    NOTE: If you don't have a dehydrator, do these in an oven at the lowest setting. You might want to do them at 1/4" instead of 1/8" so that they don't burn. Place on parchment paper, and dry until crispy - but be careful to watch so that they don't burn.

    Just finished slicing & coating my zucchini chips with the pizza seasoning. Can’t wait to try them out tomorrow. I’m so grateful for your channel. When I looked at the recipe, I was like..”What?? Tomato 🍅 powder? Celery powder? Onion powder??”
    Then I remembered that I dehydrated my tomato skins, onions & celery last summer. Went to the pantry & put them in my ninja to make my powders. Woohoo!!
    Just printed your ‘10 beginner foods to dehydrate’ that you emailed to me. ❤️❤️❤️
    Sooo excited!! Who says a 72 yr old grandma can’t learn NEW techniques for food preservation.

      "With the price of potato chips now"
      A bag of store-purchased chips is far less of an expense than dehydrating. The point is that you are not eating, feeding to other people, shite.
      Moreover, it's not about the cost for a bag of chips; it's about minimizing the risk of eating very, very, very... unhealthy foods purchased at most grocery stores. You will begin to notice that you, your family, etc. are more resilient to sickness as a result of eating healthier foods. Imagine all the savings on doctor bills.
      Be well!

    I can attest to these being addictive... they are SO good. I have been making zucchini, yellow squash and cucumber chips like crazy. They don't last..lol. I slice mine into a bowl of salty water so they are seasoned, lay them out on a lightly buttered dehydrator sheet, then sprinkle them with Parmesan cheese. YUM. Thanks for sharing this!

      Glad you find it helpful! Dehydrating has its drawbacks like not really being able to do meats effectively for the shelf if you want to keep to the safest/optimal guidelines, and that's where I still rely on canning, but for almost everything else, I love the walk away-ness of dehydrating. Prep and done.

      My Grandpa was a huge fan before, and a diehard fan after. Even though he never spoke to him again - just would see him now and again, it meant a lot to him for George to say hi. And the fact that they were 'neighbors' was also something for him to brag about :D

    Can u please tell me if I can dehydrate zucchinis just with a sprinkling of salt - without the mesh inserts for the trays?
    I don't have the mesh inserts.

      I got them from Amazon two years ago. I can't find the brand any longer but these are as close as I can find to them: amzn.to/3aMDJUr without sending you to the more expensive Stasher bags or Zips. There are some that come with a closer top instead of the zipper top you might look at as well.

      @@ThePurposefulPantry thank you for letting me know so quickly. I had ordered some time ago 2 of the stasher brand but they are expensive. I do like the size you had on your video so I’ll check out the link you sent and see if I can find something that will work. Thanks again and have a great weekend.

    Hi Darcy. This is my second year trying your chips . Delish! Question. I dehydrated kale and it turned out fine. I put them in canning jars and left them open for a couple of hours. I think I even gave them a shake every now and then. After I stored them, I noticed they were no longer crispy or crunchy. Rather they are soft. Suggestions to avoid this? (I have done this successfully before. First time fail) Thx

    • @ThePurposefulPantry
      @ThePurposefulPantry  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Stop leaving them open for a few hours. They are absorbing all the moisture in the air when you do so.

    Grrear video as usual . May I ask what brand of grated Parmesan cheese you are using on the pizza topping one. The one I gave says to refrigerate after opening . I believe I have many years ago that you did not have to (say for camping: that I would use but dob.t remember the brand. Tuia🙂

    This video got me wondering if you could cut the zucchini long ways and either bake it and freeze it or dehydrate it and use it as lasagna noodles. As soon as you said eggplant Parmesan it sparked me because I have made zucchini Parmesan before with the 8 ball zucchini that are round. Which do you think might be a better choice? Baking and freezing or dehydrating and then just using them as a dehydrated noodle?

    • @ThePurposefulPantry
      @ThePurposefulPantry  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes - I show you how in my how to dehydrate zucchini video :) I can't say it's a better choice, but yes - you can do it.

    Do the mats you use help for your wire racks so you don’t have to clean the racks every time or is that to keep things from sticking? Also was that just a coffee grinder you used for the seasonings? I want to buy both if so

    • @ThePurposefulPantry
      @ThePurposefulPantry  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I don't use anything when not necessary - but if I feel it is, I use mesh or fruit leather sheets depending on the food. Yes, a coffee grinder for small quantities and a bullet blender for larger quantities. I have the items I use and recommend here in my Amazon store: amzn.to/3K3Cxu1

    QUESTION. I started to dehydrate bottled salsa per one of your videos. It was about halfway done when a family emergency happened. I turned off my dryer and put the trays in the frig. Next day I returned to dehydrator to finish. After thinking about this I wonder if this powder safe to eat?

    I recently bought one of those mandolins also. How do you wash it? It seems like can’t really submerge it or scrub it. Do you just mostly rinse it off? Also thank you so much for your informational videos

    • @ThePurposefulPantry
      @ThePurposefulPantry  ปีที่แล้ว

      You can scrub it with a brush, push the blade partway down to get anything that might stick, and you can toss it into the dishwasher.

    I would like to ask you a question I've been dehydrating food for awhile now but the last of it that I dehydrated was frozen frozen vegetables it was dehydrated just fine the way it was supposed to be I let it set out overnight to dry to make sure that it was cool I do that to all my dehydrated stuff then the next morning it was like it wasn't dehydrated anymore I don't have that trouble in the winter why do I have that trouble now in this kind of weather thank you

    • @ThePurposefulPantry
      @ThePurposefulPantry  2 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Never leave it sitting out overnight - it just reabsorbs whatever moisture is in the air, plus collects whatever dust, dander, bacteria and mold is floating in the air. You may not have had trouble in the winter with reabsorption either because you're using a heater or you have very low humidity.
