So Aizawa-sensei is saying that Atlantis got spirited away from Midgar’s world and was yeeted into our ocean on earth. That’s why it’s sinking in the legend; it was suddenly teleported into the ocean from another world, and never originated on earth to begin with. You know this author is good when he can casually explain Atlantis’s sudden appearance in our history through his own Light Novel. Also, I’m not sure why the anime’s translator decided to translate the word “魔界･Makai” as “Realm” but it’s not really _just_ a realm. Makai means Netherworld, or Hell. Some place demonic. The cult likely named it as such based on what the first netherworld was like. They even called Ragnarök a Demon Lord, since he’s demonic, but the translator decided that Demon Lord isn’t cool enough so he got called “Archfiend” which is just not an accurate translation. And by the way, this is what I was keeping my mouth shut about. The series doesn’t have a magic system; yet. The thing Mordred mentioned about “magic” flowing into their world 10,000,000 years ago wasn’t magic. Magic is a system; it’s not something that flows. What flowed into the world of Midgar was Mana, a chemical. I think I mentioned this translation issue before but the story never uses the word for “magic” in Japanese. And that’s a big deal, because they evolved naturally to develop mana receptors and manipulate mana naturally; and the reason it’s a big deal is that a netherworld with an _actual_ magic system could invade the world of Midgar and body everyone left and right. To put it simply, in terms of real life equivalencies, magic would be science, since it’s a system that manipulates, abuses, and exploits the laws of physics; the mana system of the world of Midgar is the natural way something is used, like how animals utilize the laws of physics in real life; even if that same nature can get insane. Mana is like an Elephant throwing a rock with its natural strength, while Magic is making a small metal bullet and making it fire from the explosive impact of the mechanism; that being science. Animals use the laws of physics naturally while we exploit it with science. The former is Mana, and the latter is Magic. Magic, or “魔法･Mahou” is a supernatural system that manipulates, abuses, and exploits the energy called Mana, or “魔力･Maryoku”; and Maryoku is what the people of the world of Midgar can use. They don’t have the Magic system yet, so if a netherworld with magic were to invade, that would be big trouble for anyone who isn’t Shadow Garden or The Cult of Diablos.

I’ve been trying to tell this to people before, but there’s so many people who deny everything I say with extreme levels of ad hoc, just because they don’t want to be wrong, so a conversation never gets started in the first place and devolves into a weird game of definitions of what is magic and mana, and most people don’t seem to care that the surface-level definition of Oxford doesn’t apply to conventions. It’s pretty irritating.

My personal theory is that God literally favors Minoru, so he spins fate in a way that he meets everyone he needs to, just as a small push on his back, since he already ascended reality by himself. The reason I don’t think Cid is God is because he doesn’t show any signs of omnipotence, he only has allmight. It’s against his principle, in general, to artificially change anything; i.e. “borrowed power.” He is the type of guy to do everything manually. That is why he doesn’t use any artifacts and literally broke and remade his body several times just so he can use the 99% conductivity rate of slime, +be able to be strong enough to fight even without mana. Oh, and by the way, you might wanna watch the last episode of season 2 of the KageJitsu short for this series. It has crucial info for the movie and what happened during the moment Shadow entered the portal thingy.
for me this is 21 hrs late, but better late than never so here is my opinion (and yes you are allowed to disagree with me cause you have that right): Cid returning to his earth before his reincarnation was one of the best things he could do because he got to save Akane for a second time from the same two people.
