Thank you for posting a new video. I was checking your channel frequently looking for new content. You inspired me to get into Amazon and after 1 year of study, I finally got an offer for SDE II. I hope you help more people to accomplish this.
I thought your comments on accounting are extremely accurate. I have worked on IBM's ledger application in the past as a software engineer and can tell you the amount of times issues that were brought to our attention that we investigated, were not cause by my team, but were actually caused by some upstream system not owed by us. It is frustrating when the spotlight is shown on you or your team for an issue that you or your team did not cause.
Yes, absolutely! In the video I’m explaining it in a very simplified way but these investigations can involve a lot of work, sometimes it’s tricky to be the downstream system :)
Good to see you back but you should take all the personal time you need. I truly hope all is well 🙂! I'm sure next week will get better for you. Enjoy your weekend!
Glad to see you back, but don't ever feel pressured to upload. Duuuude event sourcing is giving me massive flashbacks... Once upon a time, I was a junior who tried to implement event sourcing by myself for handling approvals/branched changes to entities. Hindsight, I would have just used a mutex on modification. But I spend 6 months working through (no joke) >100 bug tickets for issues reconstructing state and merging events. Bleh... For accounting, it can work well because you have limited fields and they're naturally additive. Not so with other data types. Very cool concept, but I'll never touch it again for anything other than accounting.
That scenario sounds familiar - I feel your pain. Ha ha I have been to your office on a day when they let customers in - they have a nice restaurant but it did not feel so glamorous and techie as I was expecting! Nice video, thanks for sharing.
welcome back Jackie 😊 could you please share what setup (especially laptop and monitor) does your company provide? or are they all your personal items?
Hey Jackie👩 how are you good to see you after a while.✌Jackie, I have a question, what do you think is the best first laptop brand (other than Apple) for a software engineer to get for a good price?🧐🤓
