That groove and phrasing is utterly insane. His playing is incredibly clean and sometimes it sounds as if a keyboard is playing those licks but its the sound coming out from his guitar. If you haven't bought his Album you should get it now. No Regrets for sure !

This is an excellent piece of work! Your playing is outrageously good and although your technical command is off the charts, your melodic sensibility is just as developed. Insane to think that it's actually difficult to distinguish between Marco and yourself. You are clearly influenced by him in your other tracks too, but it wasn't until seeing this video that I finally knew who played what part. You win the TH-cam guitar video section for today.

Yes I 100% know what you mean haha 😆 I’ve learnt his sections myself, in case I needed to play them and to be honest, there is one section even now I’m not 100% confident with, basically the last 4 bars of his first solo section. It’s just a case of getting the muscle memory mastered I think, to the point where the movements themselves at a relatively slow speed are second nature, easier said than done though! 😂

Recently I was hoping you'd do a playthrough of this tune and do the rhythms over Sfgoli's solos as expected - magnificent bingo! Man what a cool riff and cool it is to see you jam it out. I just discovered this video today Monday, but on Sunday when it was published, I got back into the tabs and was doing review work on the chorus and verse parts prior to the solos, my Boxer Beagle was moving excitedly to every fricking beat, it was fluid movement, I wish I could've filmed it! LMFAO I guess as my dog demonstrated, if you can't feel this tune you are simply not alive! HAHAHA!

When I first wrote ‘Star Scream’ I immediately felt some sort of stellar vibe to it, and had these images in my mind of nebulae and colossal supernovae, and I did my best to translate that to music, whilst having a cool vibe to it. There is also a ‘story’ that the track follows in terms of how it progresses, which I have continued to do in my new tracks and I live working like that now 👍🏻

Thank you very much! 🙏🏻yes I’ve had some setbacks due to having technical issues (which will be resolved shortly), but I’m very close to having the writing virtually finished 👍🏻 And I messaged him via Facebook back in 2016 about it and he said he would consider it. Then we met before he had a show in the UK, I showed him some tracks afterwards and he agreed! So yes it was an honour to have him part of the album, and a big confidence booster for me as an artist.

I appreciate the kind words man 🤘🏼in my experience, the more I’ve liked the backing track, the better I do in a contest, which is why I hardly ever do any lol! But the contests I’ve won, I’ve always been ridiculously inspired by the backing tracks. I had so many ideas for the Mayones contest, but chose the ideas I felt were the most balanced. I was also away from home so had to compose it in my head and hope I remembered it when I had a spare hour on Xmas day to record it lol. But I’ve noticed people who were frustrated with the result wanted to see more shred, which is (imo) sport not music. I always shred but there’s a time and a place for it, and the entries that placed lower had too much or too little in my opinion, I think I got the balance just right which led to me winning. Let’s not forget it’s always down to the judges opinion too. I was most flattered that Rabea who made the track put me first, which was awesome! I can’t remember the name of second place, but he was definitely an awesome player. I just think the track wasn’t 100% his style, but the licks he had were incredible. But regardless of how great the kicks are, if they don’t compliment the track and tell a story, they’re pointless in my opinion. So I always try to tel a story and have people wanting to come back to listen to the music rather than come back to watch the licks (if that makes sense). Jon, my brother, I freaking can’t get enough of this beautiful track.. I don’t see many players utilizing an extended range instrument like you have in this gem.. it’s mostly deathcore bands just so it sounds super heavy and crushing.. well there’s a few bands that are great musicians and know their instruments and can be heavy asf and beautiful at the same time utilizing an 8 string. But this track is my favorite 8 string jam.. it’s groovy, heavy, technical, etc. I can’t get enough of the opening 2 minutes or so
I swear every Italian guitarist I come across is an incredibly amazing musician and composer.. being an Italian/Irish American I’m blessed to have Italian blood coursing through my veins.. Italians just are naturally talented people in whatever is their craft in their lives.. DaVinci was a genius in everything that he did, some of the most famous historical figures were Italian. Archimedes, was born in Sicily, Leonardo Fibonacci, Michelangelo, Dante Alighieri, and my favorite composer I have ever heard, Antonio Vivaldi. All those guys were born in some region in Italy.. So my point of Italy always having people who are incredibly dedicated and extremely talented and skilled in their chosen craft is still true to this day.. Ex: Jon Tramaine of course, Marco Sfogli, Daniele Gottardo, ETC.. there’s a ton of Italian American guitarists as well. Tell me I’m wrong about it??? Lol
I’ve been wondering the same thing, although I am not Italian lol (I wish I was sometimes!) I’m actually from Wales 🏴 in UK 🇬🇧, but I do agree with you 100% - I don’t know what the reasons are, maybe with it being well placed geographically in Roman era or something, and having a lot of Greek influence (who were also great innovators) but whatever it is, it’s hard to ignore the almost divine talent that Italy has produced and continues to do so.

Thank you very much! I’m sure there is a way, this tone is a Mesa tone (unsure about the model), which is from a Marco Sfogli Kemper pack which you can get on Live Play Rock’s website. I’m not sure if they do Axe Fx profiles yet but I’m sure you can find a similar preset with Fractal. I think it maybe a dual rectifier with a Mesa Cab 🙏🏻👍🏻 no overdrives or boosts used.
Yes, although this model did seem to differ to a more recent model I bought. I felt the more recent ones where a lot flimsier in the neck, and felt a bit harder. But nonetheless, a great guitar for the value, simply replacing the pickups with some high end ones results in an awesome guitar 👌🏼
Where can you get the thing he has on the neck that is being used? Is there a name for it? The string dampener was very cool but I am looking for one just because of the aesthetic appeal.
With great difficulty lol I had to bodge it in a bit, and the battery is basically hanging out of the back 🤣 but I do plan on trying to add some new holes for the electrics and widen then cavities a bit when I’m confident enough.

No, nothing but the pickups were changed on this, but I think Ibanez must have made some changes to this model at some point, as the necks on both models are different, as well as the finish material and bridge (or so it appears). I am looking to replace the bridge and neck of the older one though, but still in the planning stage at the moment! 😁

@@Tramaineguitar Oh yea that Star Scream break down riff, is quite bad ass! Sets the stage like a nebula gives birth to stars, great riff lead in for that marvelous solo!
When I first wrote ‘Star Scream’ I immediately felt some sort of stellar vibe to it, and had these images in my mind of nebulae and colossal supernovae, and I did my best to translate that to music, whilst having a cool vibe to it. There is also a ‘story’ that the track follows in terms of how it progresses, which I have continued to do in my new tracks and I live working like that now 👍🏻

And I messaged him via Facebook back in 2016 about it and he said he would consider it. Then we met before he had a show in the UK, I showed him some tracks afterwards and he agreed! So yes it was an honour to have him part of the album, and a big confidence booster for me as an artist.

I appreciate the kind words man 🤘🏼in my experience, the more I’ve liked the backing track, the better I do in a contest, which is why I hardly ever do any lol! But the contests I’ve won, I’ve always been ridiculously inspired by the backing tracks. I had so many ideas for the Mayones contest, but chose the ideas I felt were the most balanced. I was also away from home so had to compose it in my head and hope I remembered it when I had a spare hour on Xmas day to record it lol. But I’ve noticed people who were frustrated with the result wanted to see more shred, which is (imo) sport not music. I always shred but there’s a time and a place for it, and the entries that placed lower had too much or too little in my opinion, I think I got the balance just right which led to me winning. Let’s not forget it’s always down to the judges opinion too. I was most flattered that Rabea who made the track put me first, which was awesome!
I can’t remember the name of second place, but he was definitely an awesome player. I just think the track wasn’t 100% his style, but the licks he had were incredible. But regardless of how great the kicks are, if they don’t compliment the track and tell a story, they’re pointless in my opinion. So I always try to tel a story and have people wanting to come back to listen to the music rather than come back to watch the licks (if that makes sense).

Jon, my brother, I freaking can’t get enough of this beautiful track.. I don’t see many players utilizing an extended range instrument like you have in this gem.. it’s mostly deathcore bands just so it sounds super heavy and crushing.. well there’s a few bands that are great musicians and know their instruments and can be heavy asf and beautiful at the same time utilizing an 8 string. But this track is my favorite 8 string jam.. it’s groovy, heavy, technical, etc. I can’t get enough of the opening 2 minutes or so

I swear every Italian guitarist I come across is an incredibly amazing musician and composer.. being an Italian/Irish American I’m blessed to have Italian blood coursing through my veins.. Italians just are naturally talented people in whatever is their craft in their lives.. DaVinci was a genius in everything that he did, some of the most famous historical figures were Italian. Archimedes, was born in Sicily, Leonardo Fibonacci, Michelangelo, Dante Alighieri, and my favorite composer I have ever heard, Antonio Vivaldi. All those guys were born in some region in Italy..
So my point of Italy always having people who are incredibly dedicated and extremely talented and skilled in their chosen craft is still true to this day.. Ex: Jon Tramaine of course, Marco Sfogli, Daniele Gottardo, ETC.. there’s a ton of Italian American guitarists as well.

I’ve been wondering the same thing, although I am not Italian lol (I wish I was sometimes!) I’m actually from Wales 🏴 in UK 🇬🇧, but I do agree with you 100% - I don’t know what the reasons are, maybe with it being well placed geographically in Roman era or something, and having a lot of Greek influence (who were also great innovators) but whatever it is, it’s hard to ignore the almost divine talent that Italy has produced and continues to do so.

Thank you very much! I’m sure there is a way, this tone is a Mesa tone (unsure about the model), which is from a Marco Sfogli Kemper pack which you can get on Live Play Rock’s website. I’m not sure if they do Axe Fx profiles yet but I’m sure you can find a similar preset with Fractal.
I think it maybe a dual rectifier with a Mesa Cab 🙏🏻👍🏻 no overdrives or boosts used.

Yes, although this model did seem to differ to a more recent model I bought. I felt the more recent ones where a lot flimsier in the neck, and felt a bit harder. But nonetheless, a great guitar for the value, simply replacing the pickups with some high end ones results in an awesome guitar 👌🏼

Where can you get the thing he has on the neck that is being used? Is there a name for it? The string dampener was very cool but I am looking for one just because of the aesthetic appeal.
Fret Wraps by GruvGear. They can be quite handy in the studio, especially on 8 string guitars 👍🏼
Love the tone, but how did you put active pups on that guitar, since it's originally a passive instrument?
With great difficulty lol I had to bodge it in a bit, and the battery is basically hanging out of the back 🤣 but I do plan on trying to add some new holes for the electrics and widen then cavities a bit when I’m confident enough.

Did you upgrade your bridge and tuners on your rg8? I'm looking to do so on mine but not sure how to get the right tuners. I did figure out which hipshot bridge to get. I'm thinking emg 808x's are seeing your videos. Thinking I'll also swap the tone knob for a killswitch button. Any help would be awesome! It's so cool to see someone with my guitar killin it like you do, very motivating!
No, nothing but the pickups were changed on this, but I think Ibanez must have made some changes to this model at some point, as the necks on both models are different, as well as the finish material and bridge (or so it appears). I am looking to replace the bridge and neck of the older one though, but still in the planning stage at the moment! 😁

Yeah it was a bit of a struggle, and they weren’t a great fit so I had to kind of force them in 😭
