For those looking for a from scratch tutorial, it starts at 7:20 :) Also, If there are enough of y’all that are on Premier pro, Final Cut Pro, etc., I can work on also selling the LUT by itself and converting my looks into a lut pack. So let me know if that would be something a lot of you all would be interested in! Edit: the LUT pack is now available in my store! partner.shopmoment.com/9gEOeY Best, serr
I’m here for you making this on Premiere Pro, but I’m not against trying it on DaVinci if it’s easier to use. Is it…easier to use…than on Premiere Pro?😓
i haven't skipped any of the ads because this video, and you, fully deserve it. this video has no use for me now except for entertainment, but i'm sure it will in the future. also happy to be a real one :)
This is an unbelievably helpful and well put together video. As someone who just switched to Davinci and was excited about the coloring options you have made my day. I am about to call a friend and spend the day following this video and seeing how well we can do with our first real try at film emulation.
You're the man dude! Was so excited for this video to be published. I'll start experimenting with the free version and maybe get one of the paid ones as well. Since I'm not that experienced with davinci, it was sometimes hard to keep up with what you were doing with the nodes. Luckily this is yt and I can rewatch everything. Incredible work man, loved the footage
I bought your film vision pack with your LUT and the POWERGRADE. I am really happy with my purchase, you did an excellent job on creating this nostalgic 16mm-feeling. Cheers!
Recently got started grading in Resolve and used your powergrade - along with this video, it's really helped in getting me to grips with what the software is capable of! Thanks.
I always keep coming back to this video every so often because it is absolutely the best I've seen on color grading emulation of filmic 16 & 32mm on this platform so far. I wish you would have shown how you made that powergrade from scratch (I already purchased your powergrade but I love seeing stuff where it goes into the thinking behind every step). I have a small audience on my channel that focuses on mostly music production tutorials (if not mostly just sharing my music); but what I've noticed when making sound design tutorials is that people are less interested in how I made it, they just want the preset lol. So even if you made the tutorial on how you made the powergrade, some people (including me sometimes when I'm in a pinch) just want the sound preset, or in your case, the powergrade/LUTs - which, by the way is good for business if you have a store. So it wouldn't affect if people will purchase your powergrade or not because most people are kinda lazy and would just rather have the shortcut.
What an awesome video and PowerGrade. Being French, I'd like to point you towards the correct pronunciation of VIGNETTE. It ends just like you say GET or LET in English. The way you say it is how we'd do it if it was spelled VIGNET.
For anyone watching this after DaVinci Resolve 18 and getting stuck on 11:52 for "Composite Mode", you can now create "Composite Nodes" directly on a regular Node (right click > Composite Mode > Add)
Thanks so much man, I mean it's okey to sell but lately it's just videos of people selling their stuff and not teaching something meaningful. Thank you again.
Thank you serr, I just bought your Filmvision even though much of this is new to me but I find your channel massively entertaining and useful. I can' think of a better way to show my gratitude and thanks than purchasing your hard work.
Beautiful as always. Also, very, very informative. Thanks for breaking it down in so many ways. For someone who’s interested in getting started with coloring in Resolve, where would you recommend someone start?
Definitely download the software and start playing around with it. It wasn’t that hard of a transition coming from premiere. TH-cam videos can help you get comfortable with it :) you’ll build up an eye for color once you start using it more and more. Have fun! 👍
Hey there, a few qestions if you don't mind. 1. Would your powergrade work on the free version of davinci? 2. Would it work if the footage was filmed in HLG rather than a log? CST REC2020 to REC709 i'd assume?
Amazing work! Just one quick question: what about the color management inside Davinci Resolve? I shot with Blackmagic 6k FF and normally would input BM6k as the input color space
Exporting with a higher bitrate does not work all the time (especially when you use GoPro footage or other cameras, where are lots of tiny details in the scene), I found out that the best quality you will get when you exporting with HEVC (h.265) codec, 30mbps is good enough and youtube does not mess it up so much as it does with h.264 codec. PS. good tutorial! :)
I have a question for Davinci users on grading an entire video. I use premiere and make a base color edit on an adjustment layer( Entire sequence), then individually tweak clips if I have to. All the davinci videos I've seen just edit individual clips. What is your workflow to edit an entire video with clips that may have different WB or maybe two different cameras where the setting may have been different? Im trying to move over to davinci for color grading.

You can categories the clips in groups. It will enable the Group Post Clips feature which is similar to laying an adjustment layer on the sequence.
thank u, great luts
