I fully enjoy watching your videos because you don't use a text to voice program. Makes it so much nicer to listen to.
Far classier than the float houses I grew up on and around. It was the middle of no where, the Broughton archipelago and yes, some were actually double wide trailers mounted on rafts made of one to one and a half meter thick fir logs. Fishing off the float before the school boat came around to pick us up was the norm... It was a great place to grow up back in the day.
Number 2 is intriguing, I'd love to tour that in person. I envision good times, and great adventures aboard that vessel.

#23 I enjoyed watching the video of the 10 House Boats. Number 1, which I liked the best for open water comfort and low wave action. However I would install hand rail on the staircase. Having the ability to secure a tender is a plus. I designed a 50 foot schooner which has been built by a local company. Anchors Away!

Great Video. I always enjoy seeing the newer houseboats coming on the market. When I fully retire I plan to live on the Mississippi River, North during warm months and go south when it gets cold.
I've been thinking a trip up and down the Mississippi on a houseboat would enjoyable. Although, I don't know about living full time on the river. Isn't it too dirty for swimming?

Re the Thai house, I can tell you that the prices are going to vary greatly depending on a myriad of variables. If you are buying directly from an owner, you might do well. However, most of the time there are at least one (if not several) "layers" of "agents" who will add up to 50% to the costs (I've actually seen deals that were up to 150% added). I have purchased many properties/boats in SE Asia .. it's pretty much the same where ever you go. I once paid 4x the going price for a beach front property .... but that had been the first 6 months after my initial arrival.
Number 2 = definitely the best.

Great vid , it was helpful & practical right up to the the LAGOOON beautiful but that is next level. A mid class family may be able to attempt $250k - $400k when you hit $500k-$800k upper mid class when you hit $1.1 million & up thats next level houseboat.

@@mindseyedesign $50,000 (or less!) to 80,000. - I have an idea for a sea worthy houseboat but don't have a clue who I could take it to in order to get it built!
I always like when designers turn large hardtops into solar generating platforms. Granted, they're not much use at higher latitudes, when it's raining, or at night. But, 3kw solar@peak capacity will make it a far quieter experience because of all the things a diesel/gas generator won't have to supply.
The Lagoon is not a houseboat it is a Yacht. It has offshore capability as well but I would have to inspect it and do a little research before I would take it very far offshore. I think it is easily capable of going out far enough to transport it say from Florida to Texas or Southeast Florida to the mid atlantic states anyway if you prefer not to use the Intercoastal or just want a break for a leg of the journey. A lot of that area can be run via Intercoastal Waterway but in cases when protected waterways are not available it is classified as offshore capable Yacht. I would like any vessel do research on it and talk to the company if I were going to Deliver a new one to a customer but usually they have their own Delivery Captains who will spend a brief period with the buyers showing them how everything works. If not the Delivery Captain they have people who will do that from the Dealership or the builder.

Thanks for the suggestion. Ive done a couple vids on shipping container homes. It's been a while I'm curious what's out there now. I live right next to a shipping container facility of offices, stores and restaurants/bars. I can hear the live music from the roof top stage as I type this. It's pretty cool what people have come up with making use of shipping containers. 👍

I like no 10 for the ability to walk around the sides of the vessel even though you do lose a bit of space in the cabin..
Those barges in Thailand were constructed for hotel rooms barges and are not for sale.

Is there a specific reason houseboats aren’t built with second levels? Because if I could design and build my own houseboat I’d want the cabins to be on a separate level from the living room, kitchen, dining room, etc. if it’s possible.
