By the way, handing over the microphone to the interviewer is not about leadership but about being concerned that the people hear the question too. Also, making the interviewer feel equal. There is just one microphone and sharing was a nice thing. As a well known politician, he could have kept the microphone to himself and let that guy continue. It wasn’t like how Modi pulls away people who come in the way of his camera. There are likely hundreds of millions who it would seem believe the country started on a path of development only on 16 May 2014, when their Living God took the reins of Governance. His party has abysmally failed to counter that belief with facts and figures - a truly astonishing level of complacency and criminal negligence for which they will pay a very heavy price soon. Equally, the current rulers have successfully implanted the belief in their vast support community that the myriad problems and failures past 75 years are directly attributable to one family's rule and loot, and here too his party has not even attempted to challenge that narrative with their own drumbeat. The same people believe huge strides have been made by the nation, symbolized by a road network which most of the 1.4 billion citizens never traverse, while the towns and cities are huge slums, and the education levels are such that most of those holding certificates will fail to make any useful contribution to the economic well-being of the nation, and the condition of the over 1 billion who are counted among the poor will not leave that quagmire if "poor" is properly described and computed, by 2047, when magic is supposed to be unveiled, yet no one cares and certainly no one ascribes blame, despite the national clean-up campaign that has had almost nil impact, among others, to the person commonly believed by so many to be a gift from the Almighty Himself to the nation. It looks almost a certainty that post the general elections Rahul will see his movements restricted and his time spread across various cities where a series of court cases will find him sitting in aircraft seats as he scrambles from one case to another and acclimatise himself to a new residence that will be placed at his disposal where there is a brief let-out in the open air for a paltry few minutes, before back in and the metal doors clang shut. Whether he is wishing exactly for such to happen and thereby earn his martyrdom, only he can answer, but it does look his 20 years in politics may soon be arriving to a swift and shuddering conclusion and not one he would have designed for himself. His opponents, meanwhile, have their plans thought out for another decade with the current incumbent at the helm, and then another decade or two with his chosen successor.

Watching RG was a revelation. He’s definitely not the guy BJP IT cell tries to project with its heavily edited videos. Infact I’ve seen PM videos with world leaders saying something that didn’t make sense. But this man has to be clear, more vocal, accept defeats, step back in real sense. In a way RG family is responsible for Modi s rise. Opposition strategy is barely visible, if they’ve won it’s not because of RG, it’s Siddaramaiah in Karnataka or people fed up of BRS in Telangana.
