George Duke's old buddy from Frisco, Al Jarreau, with whom he started out back in 1965 in a little club called the Half Note remembers the good ole days.
Al said 'We're just passing through'. How true. But it is still painful to watch Al sing and eulogize in memory of George Duke, knowing that he has just recently passed from this world also. Now there are two major gaps in our musical lineage. Damn, damn, damn!!! Real tears...
Will never forget that amazing performance of No Rhyme No Reason at the Montreaux Jazz Festival, Mr. Jarreau was in tears from the amazing performance George was putting on!
It hurts so bad that the two greatest musicians in my life are both gone. Since I heard Sweet baby, and We in this love together, the first songs from these two. I own more albums by them, together with George Benson. I hope they are jamming in heaven
My My. What a Great Spirit Brother Al and Sir. George were like Peanut Butter and Jam. Made for Each Other what a. Great Team we Lost a Great Innovator. God Bless George Duke.
it saddens me of all the musicians that I have loved since birth. These people are the reason my life shine. It was the creator who made this possible! I thank you lord for giving these musicians from the wayy back when.. I know that you cant live forever. Thank you for letting their music live on! If r.i.p. Can mean return if possible this would be great! To all the musicians I love ❤ you all rock, soul, funk, new wave. Thank you!
Thank you for posting this...both George & Al make up a beautiful part of the tapestry of my life... Here after attending the 1st Live concert after the pandemic- listening to my classic dusties🎹🎵🎼😘💕

You know what, Sean? I feel the same way, man. Every time they played "missing you" on the radio I feel real sad. I had the pleasure of seeing him and my bass hero Stanley Clarke doing a Duke/Clarke concert and man oh man, George was on fire! Those motif keyboards was steaming when the show was over, and Clarke? What can I say, awesome. He will be truly missed! Him and his wife Corinne are in a better place. May they BOTH R.I.P.
"I love you & I'll always love.you!" A very beautiful & befitting tribute song!! More of need to say this to each other; life is so short & precious!!
