It was good cause I was able to get me one. Once everyone doesn’t want an R32 or an R34 anymore, they’ll come for the R33. Realistically it’s the best of the Skyline/GT-R, it’s not too analog like the R32 but it’s not too technologically advanced like the R34, it sits right in the middle and you can’t go wrong with either choice, be it a RWD or a 4WD setup. It’s reliable enough to be driven everyday and parts can be found inexpensively stateside from other Nissans of the era and later to keep costs down. Ironically the R33 is lighter than the R34 and if we count the GT-R it’s the fastest of the 3 around the ‘Ring.
Nobody hated the R33, people just preferred the R32 for having a shorter wheel base and the R34 for simply being better. But a nice R33 definitely deserves respect.
I don't think people hate the NC. I think they just rate it lower than the other Miatas. Basically, still very good but not better. Even though in comparisons with all 4 gens like the one with EverydayDriver and Flywheel Films, the NC won.
Base model lancers get alot of hate for no reason. Just like civic swapping in a K24 you can swap in a 4B11T from the evo and run with it. They get too much hate for no reason
The SC430 easily, ton of flak from top gear then lead it to be just not noticed , no big aftermarket scene just old guys taking care of it indestructible V8 and cruising, get a high mileage one for a decent bit and you’ve got something like a heavier corvette
Let's keep it that way. Old 90s and 2000s lexus are becoming more and more popular and prices are rising. Now you can't find a clean LS or IS anymore because they were slid into a wall or slammed on the ground. Yes aftermarket support grows but I rather just keep those things stock with a few oem+ mods personally
@ heh, keeping them out of impulsive drivers hands is good, but they are still expensive and I doubt it would ever be as appealing as most tuners, or cars like the IS and LS, be nice for them to get more love
You don’t need to get an M car, the new M lite cars like the m240 and m340 are more than enough for most people and dunk on the last gen M cars. Just get an M lite and avoid the look but have an amazing reliable performance platform.

I would say that the last gen Mitsubishi evos get a lot of unnecessary hate even the evo IX gets hate usually from the awd system saying that it assists the driver too much but looking at modern cars I’d say that isn’t true nor do those cars deserve the hate I love them IMO
It's all hurr durr it's not a 4G63 but stock vs stock the 4B11 is just as strong, just doesn't have the same potential as arguably the best 4 cylinder of all time. The 4B11 is totally fine, not every Evo needs to make 80 morbillion HP
The C5 got so much hate for being an old man's midlife crisis car that a good F-body of the same time period is worth about the same in the used market as a good C5. A C5 does everything the catfish does and more. Then again as F-bodies have already been modified into race cars the supply has already dwindled for nice examples.
Ion redline! I wanted a cobalt ss as my first tuner car back in 07 but there was one on every corner so i went with the ion and everyone hated it. Yes it was cheap feeling but the suicide doors and supercharged 2.0 was awesome for a guy in his early 20s.
So all three of those cars got flak by comparison. The OG RX7 was a light, sporty thing and the FC leaned into the american market so it had way more luxury and a softer feel. Think NB miata to NC or much like what BMW is doing right now. The Suzuki looked like a Miata that was already too small, and had power that was slower than an already thought too slow miata. If you wanted something sporty, why get a car with under 70 horsepower? And the Viper was wildy expensive for something that had no traction control, no abs, no airbags, no windows, a roof that was held on with a zipper. All this that was being made by a company who was staring down the gun of bankruptcy just a few years prior until they brought out the K platform and all it's glory. To say yes to a viper meant that you were just outside the territory of a ZR1 Corvette or V12 Jaguar XJS or a Honda NSX
@syaieya the cap never was meant to compete with the mx5 due to being a kei car, tax and reg fee benefits make it make way more sense, the other 2 i can understand but the FC is still a great car
Basically any Mercedes that had the 3.2 liter M112 V6. After losing the buttery smooth M104 and the spectacular M119 engines, we got the seemingly backwards, efficiency based (read cheaper) M112 and M113 engines. They were sohc instead of dohc, needed twice the spark plugs, made often less power, required expensive synthetic oils, and to top it off the 6 cylinder models had harmonic balancer issues instead of being naturally smooth like the I6. It genuinely felt like Mercedes had totally lost it's way, started slumming it with Chrysler, and was just ready to sell out. Now the M113 V8 was pretty quick to draw level with the M119 in respect once the AMG versions came out and doublely so when the supercharger became known. If not for the smaller footprint, who knows how long it would take for a V8 G Wagen to appear. But the jury was out on the M112 V6 for a long time. And while all mercedes have problems to work through, those V6 engines refused to die. I personally have driven one to 300k miles, others in my family have driven them to 400k. And while they may lack in styling, and the build quality of the immediate predecessors, they were still genuinely good cars.
Ill also add another one of my cars, the z31 300zx the z31 is beautiful and so fun especially if you get the whole digital dash and everything but people liked every other Z chasis better
3:44 R33s features were used by the R34. Examples: front bumper turn signals, adjustable spoiler, and S3 models introduced the rear fog light that all 34s have. So who really is the “face lifted” model?
