A slice of Coffee Cake with a steaming cup of coffee is one of life's little pleasures. This is your classic 'crumb' Coffee Cake recipe. It has a rich and buttery flavor with a soft and moist texture. But what makes this Coffee Cake so unique is the grainy crumb mixture that sits on top of the cake and runs through its center. You can serve this cake while it's still warm from the oven, at room temperature, or even cold. Leftovers can be covered and stored for a few days at room temperature.

When I was a boy my mother made a coffee cake from a recipe on the side of a Special K cereal box. One year we moved and the recipe was lost. She tried to find it again but never did. It's 50-plus years later and I'm still looking for that recipe. Along the way I have, however, found many other excellent coffee cakes... like yours!

This has to be the most universally loved snack/dessert. Switch out the vanilla for almond; change the nuts; add cardamon -- a guaranteed crowd pleaser. We like to slice them up into individual pieces and freeze them to take to work.

Hi Steph, I love this coffee Yogurt Cake and baked one for my family and one for my niece to bring home. We love this cake and it's beautiful with a centre layer line and with lots of pecan nuts toppings and cinnamon goes very well.

Fun fact - in U.K. a Coffee Cake is a cake made with coffee in the ingredients - hah, you know that already! One of my favourites has a coffee cream in the middle.

Good Day Steph, as a kid my only exposure to Coffee Cake was the packaged Aunt Jemima coffee cake mix that you mixed all the ingredients in a plastic bag and poured into an oven proof paper type pan topped with packaged crumb topping. I agree ,u r the best baker....I love u....I m waiting for rainy season so I can tr your recipe....since we r in lockdown in India.....It’s too sunny &I do bake in a huge utensil with salt spread in it.....covering it with a lid.....it’s becoz I have a microwave not a oven....but then the cake comes out amazing

It is like in the UK we have tea cakes that do not contain tea. They are are more of a bun that can be eaten with butter or toasted. I love them toasted. There is a boiled tea cake, which is a fruit cake that has had the dried fruit soaked in hot tea over night prior to adding to the rest of the mixture.Yum!!!
Remember seeing a recipe for "coffee cake" in an American cookbook and fell into the same trap thinking it was a coffee flavored cake.
I baked this yesterday and when I was about to pour the batter into the spring form pan I was a bit worried because it seemed a lot more doughy than yours. I was thinking I had overmixed it and developed the gluten, but that doesn't seem to have been the case because the cake ended up really soft and fluffy.

Coffee cake was my favorite when I was young 😋 still is. I remember when my mom would give us a slice of coffee cake with coffee😅 I was about 8 years old 😂 and yes everyone in my household are coffee addicts

I had low expectations because we didn't have walnuts, we didn't have chocolate chips, we didn't even have sour cream, only 2/3 cup of some organic cream cheese with a softer texture, but decided to go for it anyway. Then to top it off I realized I was using a 10" springform pan instead of a 9" one so I was worried it would be flat and crispy. Well, it came out delicious anyway! Half the cake eaten in one day by 2 people! Great recipe!
