      Hey! You do what you can. I think some people put guidelines out on the Internet for best sustainable practices, and since jars can be abundant second-hand, thats why they say that. But you are absolutely correct that sometimes these lines of thought do not consider the differently abled. If you are not "canning" and just doing dry storage like these, then you could reuse old pasta jars or whichever you may already have at home. I am excited for your new journey. Thank you for taking the time to watch my video and chatting with me. ♡

    Will the baking powder still be good? When a box cake is expired it does not rise?

    • @TheExperimentalHomestead
      @TheExperimentalHomestead  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      This is a really good question. I personally don't have an issue with using baking soda past its expiration but I would probably get a bit weird about it as it approached a year. Alas, these baking mixes would never last a year for me so I dont have to worry. I do believe the expiration does start to impact the rising ability. So, there are options here. You could freeze your mixes if you have lots of freezer spaces, you could just note to use them sooner or write the expiration on the baking mix for your comfort. You could also omit the baking soda and then add it with the wet ingredients.
      I hope this was helpful!

    • @susieramick7202
      @susieramick7202 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi, any mixes that are past expiration date I add baking powder. I judge how much baking powder (using a half to one teaspoon) by how long the product has expired.
      Just made a 11 month expired box of blueberry muffin mix turned out great. Also add the baking power little extra liquid and you'll have great pancakes😊
      Rainy day I'm going to jar your mixed today. Thanks😊

      Hi, I am trying to find the cookbooks you talk about, however I am having trouble finding them. Could you please help?

      @jackiewilson-hp5pj (used copies) of "MAKE A MIX COOKERY" & "MORE MAKE A MIX COOKERY" can be found online by using the Google search bar.
      I'm not seeing the "COMPLETE MAKE A MIX," However, that one, simply combined some of the more popular recipes from the first two books into one book. Only a few additional recipes are included.

      @jackiewilson-hp5pj If you have a used book store, or a thrift store that sells used books, that might be a good place to look, or you possibly may find copies at your local library.

      @jackiewilson-hp5pj I found the first two books, available as used copies. I left you a message telling you where I found them, but my message got removed. I did not find the third book, but it is simply a combination of the more popular recipes from the first two books, with just a few new recipes, not found in books one and two added to it.

      Thank you kindly. If you happened to miss the recipe they are posted in the description as well. All the jars are quarts. Hope that helps for now :)
